###Update on issues regarding future of TYWC###
As promised, I'm giving you guys updates/news on what's happening
with TYWC based on what I've just heard from David.
1. TYWC is NOT going down/disappear/taken off from the server.
- I am 100% convinced from responses given to me in David's
lengthy email (I did send him lengthy email to start with...) how
much this site means to him, and how much he
understands/appreciate it means to its old/new members. He did
specifically say that this website means too much for him to let
it just disappear.
2. There will be NO transffer of TYWC to a new management/server
planned at this stage.
- From what I understand, because of the reason I have given
above, there is simply no need for such transffer. Should any
unexpected events/personal circumstances arise where David is
left with no other option than leave TYWC, at least he is 100%
aware that this website is not to be just 'erased' so at that
point some kinds of new plan could be drawn up, but as far as
things stand now, there is no need to talk about possible
transffer of TYWC by me or anybody else.
3. David has NOT given up on TYWC, and it will be worked
on/updated on in due course, although no specific time frame can
be commited at this stage.
- Basically, David has enough desire to see TYWC persist, and as
expected, he's a decent enough man not to just let kids down
irresponsibily. What's happening is that, TYWC is very old and is
based on very old/messy technology, and this makes
keeping/managing the website extremely difficult in his/anybody's
busy life. And as things stand, even if he/anybody wants to see
TYWC on a new server or whatever, it would be nigh impossible to
achieve this without re-building the website with more recent
technology. However, David has been thinking & discussing with
his own personal contacts about re-writing how this website is
run. Once the site gets rebuilt using newer/more manageable
technology, it will become hell of a lot easier to manage this
website and TYWC will be ready to go 'live' again & he reckons
all the maintenance could be covered sufficiently by that point.
There is absolutely no guarantee when this will happen, but when
it does happen, the website should be able to stay free for you
guys as it is now, and should there be any need for $$ in terms
of donation or whatever, he is now fully aware that there are
people like me who's more than willing to donate/go out of their
way to help with this cause.
4. You guys are still recommended to write/post your stories in
other writing websites, but it is NOT because TYWC has no
future/it will be 'deleted' in any sense, but because of the
current maintenance issues mentioned above.
5. For the reasons mentioned so far, at current stage, I believe
David is better left alone in peace without us pestering him
about when he will come back/when the TYWC will be updated. He is
doing enough/what he can in current stage to draw up
plans/discuss with his contacts about what can be done. It's just
that he is very busy in real life, but in no way should we
question his commitment to this club or think that he 'ditched
us'. From the hearty reply email I have just received, that would
just be an insult.
- I am sorry to 'bring up this issue again' on a chatwall that
seems to have 'successfuly moved on', but I thought this was an
encouraging enough news for everyone.
I hope everyone can see now that everything is just matter of
'when', although that 'when' would come in a distant future that
David cannot predict/promise at this stage, but given that his
willingness to keep this website & the proof that he's been
thinking/discussing about these issues despite his other life
duties is more than good enough/what we can reasonably expect
from a busy working man with a career.
- I shall return to my hermitage again now, but I am happy to see
that you guys are still making best use out of this
chatwall/other still available facilities to carry on this great
community that is TYWC. Nothing is definite & nothing is
guaranteed, but I think at least nobody now needs to have any
depressing worries/visions about demise of TYWC.
Take care everyone.

Good to hear it's not going away, but I still have doubts that anyone will be able to post their stories on there ever again. Besides, I always like thinking of YWS as the successor to TYWC as even today, a lot of the active & established members on YWS were active & established members on TYWC back in its heyday.
