Hi... my name is Maddie. I just joined this site today. I'm also on inkpop.com under the same username. I'm thinking about posting part of my novel A Thousand Words Unspoken on this site, but I'd like to get to know some people and putz around the site a bit before doing so. :D What should I do first? lol, I have no idea what to do on this site... does anyone want to be friends or anything?

Hi! And welcome to the YWS! The first thing to do, I would say, would be to write reviews! :) but you can also check out the info forums, the blogs, or go on into the chat.

I hope you enjoy the site! What do you enjoy writing?

Hey Maddie :)

If you don't want to post your story right away, why not review some other people's stuff? That way, you can meet some new people and maybe make some friends! A good way to make friends is to talk on chat, which you can find on the homepage. There's also plenty of other stuff like blogs and forums where you can meet some cool people. 8)

You can be my friend if you want! I'm a bit of a weirdo though... just warning you. If you want to ask any questions about the site, just send me a Private Message or something. I'd be very glad to help!

So, here are some questions to help us guys get to know you!

Who's your favourite author?
What book are you reading at the moment?
What's your favourite TV show?
What music do you like?
Do you have two ankles?

I didn't know what to put here so I put this.

Hi Maddie! Welcome to YWS!

I can understand your feeling of intimidation. A lot of new members feel that way when we first join! No worries, though. After a bit of time passes you'll definitely get used to it. There are a lot of things you can do if you don't want to post your story right away.

-> Blogs

Blogs are a place where you can write posts of various lengths about whatever! If you want to post a recipe, a poem/story(although you won't get as many critiques if you post them there), or something that happened to you in your daily life, go ahead! You can even customize how your blogs look! You can read others and comment on them. It's a whole lot of fun.

-> The Poetry and Short Story Databases

This is really cool. You can read a whole bunch of classic stories and poems by famous authors, make a favorites list of stories you want to continually go back and read, rate them, and leave comments. Soon, when anthologies are introduced, you'll be able to add stories and poems from either database into the anthology.

-> The Knowledge Base

Here is a collection of awesome articles written by YWSers, for YWSers. The articles in here are really informative, and if you ever find the need, you can submit your own! It has to be approved, though. All in all it's just a great place for informative reading and it's got some awesome advice.

-> The Chatroom

If you want to meet new people and just have a good time, come here. It's really where you socialize and have a chance to just relax and meet cool people. If I didn't go into the chat room, I probably wouldn't have met some of my best friends on here.

If you ever have any further questions, there is a Questions and Answers forum where you can go to if you have any questions. There is a really informative FAQ that you'll see right up top that's great and informative.

I really hope you enjoy your time on the site. Don't feel afraid to PM me if you have any questions, need a review, or just want to talk, okay?

All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them.

I personally love to review! It's fun... plus, you get to read a lot of other people's work. There are some really good stuff too. :)
