Hello! I'm new to the site, so i'm probably going to end up doing things wrong. I'd love to write things, and talk to people who like writing things so If your interested in socializing I'm a worthy candidate. I like talking a lot. Mostly about music, books, and art. If you wanted to talk about music though, that would probably be my strong suit. A lot of what I write will probably be unorganized, because I'm really just looking for a place to write down my... unorganized thoughts. So, if you feel like... talking... or explaining things about this website to me... go ahead:)

Welcome to YWS, probablynot! You've certainly come to the right place. The folks around here very friendly, and we all enjoy a good conversation...about most anything (I've seen entire discussions centering around utter nonsense; it's amazing).

You also might want to check out the Art & Photography forum; there's some excellent stuff there, and it's a great place to get feedback on your own work.

There's a lot to see and do around here, so I'll just go over the basics:

User levels:
You might notice that some of the members around here have differently-colored usernames.
Light green = Junior moderators
Dark green = Moderators
Orange = Distinguished members
Red = Administrators
Black = Nate (he's the creator of the site)

Moderators and administrators are generally the people you want to contact if you have a problem with the site or one of the members here; however, with general questions, a lot of the ordinary folks are more than willing to answer.


Reviewing is a big part of this site; a well-written review can greatly help a writer, and most reviews are reciprocated. Reviews also earn you points, which can be used in a number of ways around the site. Posting literary works costs points, though recently I think you get to post two a day for free, and any works posted after that cost 100 points. Not sure on that; I'll have to go check.

Uh...that's sort of the basics of it. If you have any more questions, I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Also, I'm one of the YWS mentors (see: The Buddy System thread in the Welcome Mat, or The Buddy System Club in the Clubs section), so my job is to, among a bunch of other things, to explain stuff about the site to new people. So, if you feel like buddying up, PM me or one of the other mentors, we'll happily jump in.
