YWS gets a lot of spam about free courses for writers, and that spam almost seems to inevitably lead to adverts for Nike Air Jordans or knock-off Louis Vuitton purses. But, that's not to say there aren't free online courses out there! Here are just a few that are starting soon:

Berklee College of Music: Songwriting (starts on October 14, 2013!)

University of Edinburgh: Intro To Philosophy (starts on October 14, 2013)

University of Virginia: Plagues, Witches, and War: The Worlds of Historical Fiction (starts on October 15)

A couple others:

Khan Academy: Art History (anytime)

Great collection of free online literature courses covering everything from Homer to Stephen King (mostly free podcasts via iTunes)

Websites with free courses:
https://www.khanacademy.org/
https://www.coursera.org/
http://www.openculture.com/
http://www.duolingo.com/

Coursera is one site you want to check constantly. I really wish I had checked it a couple months ago, otherwise I would've signed up for this:

I just signed up for the songwriters class! I'm really hoping I'll have time to commit because I'd love to be able to write lyrics.

Well, not literary at all, but I'm taking the Intro to Marketing on Coursera.

There was a writing course, the title contained Writing and Rhetoric or something similar which I did last year. It's intense and really fun. It teaches you how to write an argument and frame essays. Id highly recommend that.
It was on coursera. If I find the link, I'll put it up here.

I've taken some science courses, one on thinking critically.

This one is just like coursera and has some great courses as well.

And, I've found the best way to keep track of this is to check every second week for new courses; and treat the ones you're currently enrolled in quite seriously.
One of the biology courses my friend is taking, gives out goodies for scoring above 60% in the midterm to a few people.
