Ms. Jerriweather.
Ms. Jerriweather pushed her soft graying hair behind her ear as she listened to Ms. Smytheford.
"Will you help me gather the team?" Ms. Smythford asked with her beautiful shining eyes.
I wish my eyes were still as nice, she thought, remembering her glory years.
"Of course." Ms. Jerriweather nodded. "We should gather them soon. And I mean soon."
Ms. Smythford nodded in agreement. Time to round up the special darlings.

~~~~~
Reiko.
Reiko was lounging in the grass with her nail polish kit, focusing on her nails. She got her index finger nearly perfect. She decided not to mess with it. It looked decent enough! She moved on to her middle fingernail and touched the brush to her nail and swept the brush across the nail. She hoped with all her heart she'd get it right this time. But, alas, the brush got paint all over the skin of her finger and covered her nail unevenly! There were streaks! A twinge of anger and sadness caused her to wipe the paint off with a napkin and put up the paint. Couldn't she do anything right?
Seriously!
Sighing, she decided to head back to her room. On the way she saw Kyo Silver and waved as she passed him. Then she saw that guy Kyle. He didn't seem to be like everyone else. He wasn't like them. Neither was that other girl who she couldn't remember the name of.
She shrugged and tossed her rosy hair back and skipped off.
"Miss MacDarkeVhayne!" A voice caught her attention and she came to a stop gracefully. Reiko turned her attention to Ms. Jerriweather who was approaching quick.
"What?" Reiko called back.
"Come along," Ms. Jerriweather said, motioning her to follow. "There's something important that we need to discuss after we get the others."
Reiko's eyebrow raised in confusion but she shrugged it off and followed.
Kyo
Kyo walked thigh the halls of the old building, his guitar over his back, towards he tree he always plays by. He passed Reiko and waved to her as she carried her little nail kit by her side. Kyo smiled, he was in a super good mood today. He sat at his usual tree and started to play. He started soft and slow and started to sing filling the entire park with sweet smooth music. He finished his song and wrote down some lyrics in his book and looked up to see Ms. jerriweather.
"Kyo, please come with me." She said politely. Kyo nodded and grabbed his book and slung his guitar over his shoulder. He followed Ms. Jerriweather and she stopped at a sign to pick up Reiko too.
"What's going on?" Kyo whispered to her. She shrugged as she kept walking flicking her perfect hair over her shoulder. Kyo sighed as he brushed his long blind bangs out of his eyes.
"Ugh I hope we get this over with quickly, I have to finish doing my nails!" Reiko complains. Kyo couldn't help but to giggle at her for being such a girl. She glared at him but she just stuck out his tongue and kept walking.
Ms.Jerriweather led them around the corner and there sat Matti looking at a fashion magazine. "Hey Matti!" Kyo said waving. She looked up and smiled and joined their group. She talked with Reiko about girl stuff and Kyo didn't really mind. He just kept thinking about where the heck they were going.
Sitting on a swing, I was thinking about what I was going to do today. I didn't really want to hang out with anyone today. "Ugh. What to do?" I ask myself.
I got up and dug in my pocket for my lip gloss, your lips always have to look glossy. I think to myself. I saw Kyo, Matti, and Reiko coming my way with Mrs. Jerriweather. The teacher looked at me with a smile.
"Sylvia, come with me please. We have to go and get others." She says. I stand up a little annoyed and walked with them. "What is this?" I ask Reiko. "I don't know. I just want to get this over with so I can do my nails." she replies.
I was sprawled in the grass reading the Hobbit (again) letting my fears, worries, and all the stress of my classmates being so smart flow out of me into the cool ground. Samwise panted nearby, exhausted after trying to catch a grasshopper, of all things. It was a sweltering day and the sun beat down hard, so when someone stood over me I immediately noticed their shadow.
I scrambled to my feet, brushing the grass off my pants and shirt and flushing over how disheveled I must look. Mrs. Jerriweather raised an eyebrow. "Good book?"
I bookmarked it and asked, "What do you want?" trying not to be rude. She had kind of interrupted me in the middle of the part where Bilbo exchanged riddles with Gollum, and even though I could probably quote it word for word, I always loved to reread it.
"Come with me please. We have to go get the others." She paused for a moment. "Forgive me, your name is..."
I flushed even more in embarrassment. A few of my classmates stood behind her. Kyo, Matti, and Reiko. Bet she didn't forget their names. "Leigh. Leigh Tilson." I turned to my dog. "Sam, sehr." He trotted to my side, ready to heel.
Spoiler
Sehr means heel. She really doesn't know German, she's just memorized a couple words because then she can command her dog in a different language than everyday speech.
Kyle
I was kicking around a soccer ball when a girl passed me. She turned to stare at me before rolling her eyes and focusing on her finger nails again. I groaned. How did I get here! The school forced me to come, my parents forced me to come, I thought it would be fun, but it wasn't. Now I was stuck with a bunch of nuts who thought their greatest plight in life was the lack of new tee shirts! There was something extremely wrong with these people, even the teachers. And what is more, they didn't realize it! They didn't see the absurdity of their distractions and goals. Earlier I met a girl named Matti and had tried to start a conversation. She had just kept complaining how she could never be a gymnast because she couldn't do a cartwheel. She then went on to tell me that she didn't even want to be a gymnast, she wanted to be a veterinarian. But if she did want to be a gymnast, she couldn't. It was ridiculous! From that moment I decided that everyone in this place was insane and that I wouldn't try to talk to anyone else.
Just then one of the teachers called that there was a meeting or gathering of some sort. I dreaded the thought of having to sit in a room with all these nuts, but I guessed it was mandatory, so I followed the teacher.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Matti
I picked up Felix, my grey speckled kitten, and turned to follow the teachers. A little ways away I see Kyle. He was that sweet kid who had talked to me earlier, I remembered. He was kind of funny. When we had talked he had rolled his eyes and laughed. I had joined in because probably those were just normal actions that I didn't know about. It was really nice having someone to listen to all my problems. I was so happy to have a friend like him. Felix scratched my arm and I ruffled his fur. If only people were like animals, they would be a lot more fun.

As I hopped into the the car, I took the seat farthest from the door and looked out of the window as Mom and Dad found the seats on either side of me. Pulling out my phone and look at the time as the we pulled away from the curb. I was starting my first day of school in new place, whether it be in a new, State, City, or Town. Again. They'd promised me this would be the last time, but then again, they'd said that before. I didn't say anything, so they decided to go first. Mom beat Dad to the punch. "So how are you feeling about your first day? Nervous?"

I raise a brow at my mother and look at Dad. He gives her the same look. At least I know where I get it from. She sighs. "Look, i'm sorry. What do you want me to say?"

"You don't have to say anything, Mom." I shrug.

"Honey," Dad's hand swallows mine. "I know you're tired of hearing this, but things'll get better soon. We promise."

"And where has that line been said before?" I tuck a lock of hair back with my free hand.

"Things really will be different this time." Mom touches my cheek. "We'll be discharged soon and finally be able to lay down roots. Just like we said we would."

I wanted to believe them. I really did, but after a while, listening to the same tune got old. I'd believe it when it actually happened. "Alright."

They looked at each other before sitting back, but Dad held onto my hand. It was so big and warm. It felt nice to finally have a little time with him, even if it was just a ten minute ride to school. If they did keep good on their word, then I would get the chance to cuddle up on the couch with them like I so rarely got the chance to do as a little kid. No one spook until the car stopped. The door opens, and we all step out to meet the steadfast sun. The sound of people talk, laughing, and shouting reach my ears, and as my eyes adjust to the light, I watch as kids walk by. Another day, another school.

I turn to face them. "Well, this is my stop."

Mom and Dad both step forward to suck me into a tight bear hug. He kisses me on the forehead, and Mom kisses both of my cheeks.

"I'll miss you, honey." Mom waves before stepping back into the black SUV.

"Place nice, and don't hurt anyone. Understood?" he smiles.

I come to the position of attention and salute. "Yes sir!"

His smile widens. "At ease, soldier. And I love you."

I go on my tip toes to kiss him on his gruffy cheek. "Love you too."

He hands me a set of keys before getting into the black SUV and closing the door. I watch it pull away before turning back to look at what was my new school for the umpteenth time. "Well, here we go. Again."
"What is dead my never die, but rises again, larger and stronger..."

Ms. Arwen Smytheford

In an unused classroom, empty but for the essentials - desks, white board, and what have you - Arwen prepared her presentation to the chosen students. She turned on the projector and stepped away from the computer. She tested the slide show by snapping her slender ivory fingers, advancing it. Of course her work was perfect, but she had to test it just to be sure. She looked around the room. It was bare, for now, but it would do as home base for their mission.

Ms. Jerriweather entered the room, six students in her wake. Reiko, Matti, Kyo, Sylvia,Kyle, and Leigh. "Have a seat, ladies and gentlemen," she said, gesturing to the student desks with a broad sweep of her arm, her short shirt rising up on her perfect midriff. The students sat down as perfectly and quietly as they always did, such good students. Ms. Jerriweather took the teacher's desk.

"I know you're wondering why I gathered you all here today." She paused for effect. The team all looked interested, except for a single glance from Reiko at her unfinished nails. Ms. Smytheford snapped her fingers, making the lights dim and the slides turn on. The first one was a picture of Lady McConnell's. "Our idyllic school is in danger." She snapped again. A picture appeared of an army of robots, each one armed to the teeth. In one corner stood Doom Monger, looking proud of his work. "These robots are coming through secret underground tunnels as we speak, to destroy our happy home." Snap. A grainy, black-and-white yearbook picture of Doom Monger. The name underneath was Travis Wellman. "This man used to go to Lady McConnell's, under his real name. Recently, he has turned evil, an changed his name to Doom Monger. He wants to destroy the school and everyone in it. We cannot figure out why." Snap. In big, red letters, the words "Your job". "You have been selected as an elite team to combat these robots before they get here. We will have to go through the tunnels, check every passage and destroy any robots we find. Ultimately, this team will be responsible for taking down the Doom Monger." With a final snap, the sideshow turned off and the lights came on. "Any questions?"

Ms. Jerriweather.
She smiled inwardly at all the students listening intently to Ms. Smythford. She had taught most of them. Of course, their intelligence would never reach her level. But being near there was just a good.
Then her gaze fell on two particular students. Two very strange students. A boy and a girl. They never really fit in.
Spoiler
This was really to poke the SB alive a little. I will write a longer one soon hopefully.

I chewed my lip as the slideshow played, and when Ms. Smytheford stopped the slideshow, blurted out, "So you want us to fight giant robots created by a genius when we're only in high school? Am I the only one that thinks this idea is absolutely insane?" Everybody turned and stared at me. I whispered to myself, "Guess I am the only one." Sam nuzzled my hand softly.

Ms. Smytheford sighed, and my spirits fell. I felt like she was so disappointed in me. She said, "Any other questions?"

Spoiler
Poked. I hate dead storybooks as much as the next writer.

Thank you, Kay! Come one, people. You know you have another post in you. Feel free to take your characters to other places around the school. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, one of YOU can start our adventure into the tunnels.
