College Courses

I'm a creative writing and English literature double major! (Which, at my uni, is basically a fancy way of saying I took 4 or 5 extra English classes - the majors are almost identical)

I chose it cause I wanted to have two of the least marketable degrees of all time. Except that's a lie, because I'm extremely marketable, just in ways that parents and peers can't seem to grasp.

Computer Science! Which is like programming and maths and stuff, and it's made of awesome.

I chose it because... well, because I decided I didn't want to do maths. But I wanted to do something mathsy. And then I heard about CompSci, and it sounded cool. Three years on, it definitely is cool!

Computer Science, too. And because it is made of awesome. And because that, with web design, and combined with mental acuity and language propensity, makes for many opportunities to provide confusion to the people of the world, and to dazzle them with pretty things -- at the same time.

Beginning at Northwestern University this year, and much excited (and a little apprehensive). Are there any YWSers there, I wonder?

I plan to earn a certificate in creative writing or english or what-have-you, but CS is my main gig.

Anyways, I'm majoring in English Studies and minoring in Anglo-American Literature. At first I thought it was all reading and criticizing novels of time passed but most of our lessons are more on history than actually the literary works. Well, look at that!

After I get my bachelor's degree I'll take up some graduate studies. I won't take English again, though. Rather, I'll take a 6-year Juris Doctorate, a very fancy name for 'Doctorate of Law'. I won't be curing any diseases, though.

Once I graduate, I intend to eventually make my way to one of the accredited schools that offer a graduate degree in genetic counseling. Northwestern, Boston U, etc. Northwestern is my top pick, but I'll have to see if I can get scholarships anywhere else. ^^;

Of course, the middle bit of time, wherein I'll be doing two years undergraduate, I'm trying to decide what to do. I'm going to try to do some shadowing and interviewing, but it's going to be genetics, psychology, or social work.

I may minor in creative writing, but it's not as useful as, you know, what I listed above, so I may want to have a strong focus. Then again, classes wherein I have "break time" would be nice.

I'm doing a lot of thinking on it.
