I nod and smile lightly. "Yep."

I stand and sit on the side of the bed. "I know more about you that anyone else does. I do not think it is possible for someone to care about a person more than I care about you, Jo." I say. I lean in and gently kiss her. I do not know what is going to happen now, but ready to handle anything.

I gasp and slap him, "Pervert!"

I scream and the doctor runs in, "What happened? You didn't tell her anything yet did you?"

Not blinking once, I breathe heavily and start crying, flipping over and burying my face in a pillow.

I somewhat expected the slap. The doctor takes me out of the room and looks at me. "Chris, why did you tell her?"

"She asked me some things and could not lie to her. I did not know what else to prove to her. I just thought she might..." Tears begin to flow,

"That she would remember." The doctor finishes my sentence and I nod.

I stay there, scared, and stand before rushing out, not even sure where I'm going before I run straight into a wall. My eyes focus before I run the other way, finding my way out and looking around. Okay, okay. Home. Where's home? Where the hell is home?

I run after her as she leave, calling her parents in the process. "Hey, something happened. I need you to come right away." I say. I do not go in to detail, because it would take too long. Please, Jo. Do not leave me. Please remember.

I sigh, giving up, and stop infront of the building while taking my head in my hands.

"Jo, I am not going to touch you. Let me just take you home. I called your parents. Please, just let me help you."

I nod and motion her to come this was, so I can lead her back to the hotel.

I study him, plopping on one of the lounge chairs and cuddling into myself.

In short, Mrs. Pontellier was beginning to realize her position in the universe as a human being, and to recognize her relations as an individual to the world within and about her.
