You'd be surprised how harsh conditions can be and yet sleep remains possible- ah, the magic of exhaustion. It was only when I woke from the sleep did I fidget with discomfort as the gritty grains of sand brushed across my face. Five of us remained asleep around me, so I woke as quietly as possible to avoid stirring them; they'd need the energy later on today.

As I left the makeshift house, only the young and erratic Kurtis met my observation, Alex, who I had designated for watch, had disappeared off to some place. I was sure he'd be back shortly, he was probably only gone to wash up or something. Stretching out my arms, I yawned deeply, gazing up at the still unrelenting sun in all it's glorious heat- even if it was slowly killing me. I laughed, alerting the young man to my presence.

"Oh, hello, good morning and all that," he spoke quickly.

"Indeed, it's a truly beautiful sunrise," I smiled back, scratching my head.

There was a long pause. "So, Kurtis, shall we?" I asked, directing him towards the beach to clean ourselves up.
Laments of passion
Obstructed by fear.
Under guises of jovial chatter;
Incredulous hopes
Steadily feasting away-
Eating away at my heart.

If all pulled in one direction, the world would keel over.
