You had climbed aboard the Adeptus Vita, one of the greatest cruise ships in all the Americas, to embrace a relaxing holiday in which all your worries and stresses would simply fade away. Much like the other three-thousand passengers.
You had absolutely no idea this dream would become so rapidly a nightmare. The turn of the clouds and seas had proven too much for the cruise liner, and as a tropical storm ravaged the ship you were one of the few who had managed to man a safety raft and escape from the sinking wreckage, that picture of a haven quickly soaked and ruined like a saturated book.
The night had been turbulent, and the exhaustion from the cataclysm had knocked you unconscious, but when you awoke it the intense sunlight blared down onto your skin, and all that you can see in front of you is endless ocean... until you turn around. Trees tower only tens of metres away from you, and the waves, whose deathly intent had seemed to change, lapped gently at the smooth, golden sand. You beckon your fellow survivors to investigate the newfound surroundings, and it does not take long for you to realise that this is a chance; a divine opportunity to escape the despicable happenings.

You are left with no choice but to hold out on this deserted island until help arrives- or you escape yourself.

As you can see, you will be roleplaying a survivor of the sinking of a titanic holiday cruise ship, and your luck has carried you to a small jungle island somewhere in the south of the Atlantic Ocean. You are grouped with a team of others who managed to make it off the boat alive and you must try and make a life for yourself until you find a way off the island.

Of course, there are rules:

Name: Paul Redding

Age: 62

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Spoiler
PaulRedding.png
PaulRedding.png (113.65 KiB) Viewed 1115 times

Stands at an average height of five feet eight inches and carries a round belly.

Personality: Paul is generally jolly and easygoing, but is also stern with a tendency to become quickly angered by a fallback in a plan. It is exceptionally rare for him to blame an individual, for he has always believed that, as a team, failure or success is reliant upon all members. He is a natural born leader, and is not short on experience as one. One problem with Paul’s mostly calm and optimistic attitude is that he can often underestimate the severity of a situation should it present itself.

History: Paul had spent all of his working life as a New York police officer, keeping order on the streets as a regular patrolman for over forty years. He had only retired to a desk job as a director due to his deteriorating physique, but never really lost his appetite for the street corner hot dogs. When he retired at the age of 60, he and his wife Annabelle had wanted to explore the world a bit more now their young daughter Lucy had started at University, and the Adeptus Vita had caught their eye from the start.
Unfortunately during the night of the ships demise, Paul and Annabelle had both separated to cater their interests, and that was the last the ex-cop saw of his wife. He had been hesitant to climb aboard the safety raft with many strangers, but the strength he had gained from being fixated on seeing his daughter again forced him to leave his worries for Anna behind, and reluctantly he complied.
He was certainly surprised that all of them were given the great chance to have some land to cling onto until help arrived. However, by no means did he believe the task ahead would be an easy one, so he called all the men and women together to gather their bearings and think out a plan.

Strengths: Still retains a lot of physical strength, good leader, generally optimistic, kind and thoughtful. Is experienced and has a lot of common sense with his age, wise, a good listener and has a stern sense of right and wrong.

Weaknesses: Tires easily with his old age, easily underestimates situations, lack of knowledge on nature, doesn’t have a particualrly high intellect. Overweight.

Up for love?: No

Name: Cobalt "Shank" Delioglanis

Age: 44

Gender: Male

Appearance: Shank was of average height, bordering on short. He is heavy-set, with a clean-shaven double chin. Think black eyebrows run parallel to his gash of a mouth, normally set in a perpetual frown. Even when on holiday from his "business", he dressed formally in several expensive brand name tailored black suits. He often wore a simple fedora to cover his balding head. One of his front teeth was gold capped, and two large rings adorned his middle fingers of each hand.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Shank is a loud and demanding presence. He scares many by leaping out of his frown into full-blown belly laughter, a maniac look to his eye. Othertimes expressions slide across his face the way a fried egg would slide out of a pan. His voice is deep and oily, with a heavy Italian accent.

History: Shank is on holiday due to nerves. His close doctor friend advised he refrain from "business" for a month or two to return the man's blood pressure to normal. He has to take several pills a day for cholesterol, heart burn and stress.

Prior to taking the holiday, Shank was a criminal well-known to the police force. He was one of the "untouchable" mafia bosses, having many officers on his payroll and often sending tidbits of valuable information their way to rid himself of competition. He kept the wilder gangs in check; without him, crime would run even more rampant.

Strengths: He is a good shot with many guns. Shank is a smooth talker and great with negotiations due to his natural charisma. He is used to being the boss and can lead a group competently.

Weaknesses: Shank enjoys power and material objects. He will do anything to make money. He trusts people too easily, certain they wouldn't betray him. He can be short-tempered and nasty, revealing too much of his intentions when angered.

Up for love?: No. He despises women and longs for the day when "order" will return and women become powerless once more.
I have an approximate knowledge of many things.

Name: Annabella Harris
Age: (between 18-70) 22
Gender: Female
Appearance: (images allowed): Annabella is 5 foot 7 inches tall and has long legs suited for running. She's a dirty blonde hair that falls past her shoulders and soft blue-grey eyes.
Spoiler
annabella.jpg
annabella.jpg (122.92 KiB) Viewed 1098 times

Personality: Annabella is a kind soul. Always with a willing helping hand and time to hear troubles and ease disquieted souls. She smiles a lot and is soft-spoken. As a natural peace maker and keeper she is often called upon her friends to solve problems. Her trustworthiness and reassuring manner make her trusted by many and a great friend. With this though comes some insecurity about her talents and abilities and some indecisiveness to boot, which can make her panic in some stressful situation.

History: (not too detailed, keep it fairly brief) Annabella is the youngest daughter of 5 children living in a southern town. She learned her people-skills with her quarreling siblings and in her gossip ridden small town. When she graduated high school she went on to college to become an therapist. Annabella saw a flyer advertising the Adeptus Vita and with the coaxing from a group of friends they decided that they should pool their money together and vacation together. The last she saw of her friends was before the got separated on the lifeboats. Never to be seen again.

Strengths: Annabella a long distance runner as well so she can run great distances without tiring, she constantly training for a marathon. She is good at negotiating agreement and settling disputes. As a therapist in training she is also studying the effects of trauma on the human behavior.

Weaknesses: In her anxiety to compromise she is often unable to take a strong stance in what she believes is right. She is full of self-doubt about her abilities like her running and often degrades herself.

Up for love?: (if yes state sexual preference) Maybe

Other: (anything else others should know about your character- theme tune, etc.): Has a small scar on her left wrist from the time she fell on a shard of glass when she was six and it cut open. She spent the night in the emergency room.

Name: Kylie McConnell

Age: 19 (21 to anyone who asks)

Gender: Female

Appearance: Kylie is around 5"5' and very skinny. For this lovely cruise, she packed mostly sundresses and adorable blouses.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Kylie is really sweet and innocent most of the time, though she does have a flirty side at the bar. Okay, that's what you see. What you don't see is far more important. Kylie isn't here for the luxurious socialite experience. She has far shadier motives...

History: To say that Kylie had an easy childhood would be a lie. To say that she grew up poor in a rough neighborhood would also be a lie. Kylie's dad ran off before she was born so she never knew him. She and her mom then lived with her grandma in Beverly Hills until she was ten. Then, her mom remarried a millionaire and they moved in with him. That's when the abuse started. He sexually abused her and her mother. Unfortunately, Kylie's mom just couldn't find the strength to leave him or his money. So the harassment continued until Kylie was sixteen and she ran away from home. She's been living off thievery ever since.

Strengths: Kylie is good at fending for herself, as she has been doing it for years. She's also very quick and clever, another skill she picked up on the streets.

Weaknesses: Kylie's had a drinking problem since she ran away from home. And when she has a little too much, things can get out of hand.

Up for love?: As of now, no, but perhaps later on.

Other: Kylie is adept at making weapons out of everyday objects.

So I went to the SBs expecting to find nothing that would interest me... then this popped up. :)
I'm in!!

Name: Alex Neralli
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Spoiler

Personality: Alex has a hard time taking anything seriously. However, he knows that his sense of humor and tendency to be distracted can be annoying to others. Therefore, he tries to hide his emotions and stay serious and attached. Still, when any situation becomes too serious for him, he tends to either disappear or make some kind of innapropriate joke. He is fun to be around though, and has a knack for making people smile. He understands the tragedies of life, just chooses to ignore them and retreat into his own world of happiness.

History: (not too detailed, keep it fairly brief) He lived with his parents, an Italian father and American mother. He grew up in Colorado with two younger brothers, and won a ticket to go on the trip after participating in a contest with his band. He plays guitar, piano and drums, learns other instruments easily and always tries to sing, though his voice isn't anything special.
His mother suffered from severe depression, which is likely part of the reason he tries so hard to remain blind to any unpleasing situation.

Strengths: His sense of humor can be a strength, as he can always cheer someone up. Or at least, most of the time. His musical skills are also a strength, and his ability to make friends quickly.

Weaknesses: Alex can't cook to save his life. Again, his humor could be a weakness, and he tends to be extremely spacey, especially in tough situations.

Up for love?: (if yes state sexual preference) Sure.
Other: Alex is terrified of turtles, though he has no idea where this fear came from. He also has a bracelet from his father that he never takes off.

I'll have to apologise Cailey, some of my ideas here skirt close to a few of yours.

Name: Kurtis Adams
Age: 35
Gender: Male

Appearance: Slender and dischevelled, with long hair and a rough beard.
Spoiler
http://www.last.fm/music/John+Frusciante/+images/52856563

Personality: Kurt has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, meaning that he struggles to concentrate. He is compassionate, deeply in love with nature and the world around him. However, he shies away from authority figures, partly due to his disorder, and partly due to his overbearing father.

History: Diagnosed with ADHD at age 11, Kurt only ever seemed able to concentrate on music. His mother saw this as an opportunity, and tried to encourage him to practice and learn, but his father, a fearsome barrister, wanted Kurt to follow in the family line and practice law. Kurt dropped out of law school without informing his parents and began to persue the rock star lifestyle, but with no money to his name he quickly fell in with the wrong crowd. At age 32, and after a month in rehab to kick serious drug addictions, Kurt began anew, practicing yoga, eating healthily, and making contact with his 'inner spirit'. Music still flows in his veins; he had finally hit a break, playing guitar onstage on several nights of the cruise.

Strengths: Kurt is compassionate and widely talented, with a creative mind that can, when harnessed correctly, solve highly complex problems easily. His loving nature makes him a good member of any group, though his contribution is often minimal.

Weaknesses: ADHD leaves Kurt out of most discussions, and despite his sharp intellect, most problems tend to be abandoned in favour of music. His natural tendency to shy away from authority figures makes it difficult for him to integrate as a functional team player.

Up for love?: Kurt loves everything. Especilly rainbows.
Other: Kurt can be made to help with even the most complex problem if you can hold his attention.

Weaknesses: Can get overstressed and is not especially strong or fast.

Okay guys, here we go!

Paul

It had shocked me, but not so much the capsizing of the ship (although that still left a sickly feeling at the pit of my stomach when I thought about it), more the unlikely, bordering impossible, stroke of luck that had given all of us who escaped a chance to leave the disaster unscathed- at least as far as fatalities go.
My world had collapsed; the death of Annabelle hurt, it had left a ghostly scar deep within me, but my beacon of hope, the only reason I did not just throw myself into the unforgiving sea, no matter how docile it may have seemed at that moment, was the fact that Lucy needs someone, and until she finds another who cares for her like I and Annabelle did, then I would never even contemplate leaving this world. This is what dragged me off of the life raft and onto the sands of sanctuary that we had beached upon.

Four of my fellow survivors had already leaped out ahead of me, curious, eager or stupefied, I was not sure as to what emotion they had felt, but I had one of sudden realisation, that there was someone else who had saved us; there was nothing less fitting to describe the situation than divine intervention, and I was not a religious man. I myself had pursued them, leaving the other more timid amongst the group to follow in their own time.
I gazed around, dumbfounded- the place seemed so remote- yet I tried not to lose my head, for I would need to set an example if we all were to get along well. Which reminded me, none of us had really got to know each other; all that was said on the life boat was a few brief names and whimpers of how we would be okay. Now it was essential that everyone became well acquainted, sooner rather than later, they could not afford to be distracted from the fact that death had not given up its pursuit of us yet.

I turned my head both to the left and the right, and saw the same both ways: a gorgeous coast that stretched far into the distance, but the curvature of the land was still visible as it tucked into the depths of the land. For all we knew, we could have washed up in the Caribbean, we could have been safe. But we weren't.

“Everyone, gather round!” I shouted with a tone of authority, one that had sounded more demanding than I had intended. The others pivoted to face me, and some began to draw in closer to me, intending to hear what I had to say. “We need to get ourselves together and gather our bearings,” I continued, with a much softer tone, hoping that I had not already damaged the bridges that were to be built in time. A rough-looking man had strode across the beach from about fifty metres away in a fast yet constant run.
“Here, my friend, what is your name?” I asked, as the group gathered.

I could remember the lurch of the ship, then the unmistakable squeeze of vertigo in my stomach as the ship came down. And I remembered screams, high pitched so that they hurt the inner drum in my ear.

Then it all went black.

I woke up on the sand, some one hovering just a bone me. From the sound of there voice they where anxious. I coughed, seawater spewing out of my mouth and onto the mans feet. But I didn't care, I wanted to know what happened.

"Are you all right?" The man said, his voice straining to stay compassionate.
"I'm fine" I managed to say. I studied him. He was older, yes from my guess in the sixties. Balding head and clear intelligent eyes. So maybe I would get along with him after all.

"What happened?" I said slowly.
"The boat went down, you passed out. I carried you out but we were worried you had a concussion." I blinked.

Well this was a surprise.

Dizzy. That's how I felt.
I tried to shake away the nausea, but realized stupidly that shaking only made it worse. Someone's voice called us together, but I didn't want to go. Instead, I let myself drop into the sand near a palm tree, which I used a backrest.
"Nice beach, isn't it?" I said, not to anyone in particular. A few of the others glared at me from the small circle they had formed. I bit the side of my lip and breathed heavily. "Alright, fine, I'll join the pow wow, too." I stood and made my way to the edge of the group, even though my stomach continued to churn.
I heard the others going through names, even though they'd already shared that information on the lifeboat. Not that anyone remembered anything that had happened on the boat. Except me, I'd always been good at remembering names. Paul, the old guy, Cobalt, or Shank, the not so old guy, Annabella, the blonde, Kylie, the one with brown hair, Lindsey, the mom, Kurtis, with the beard, Emmet, the quiet one, and the other one... Christopher, maybe? I couldn't help but notice the overwhelming majority of men. Well, hopefully we wouldn't be stuck on the island too long. People have a tendency to look for partners when stuck on a deserted island, and from the way things were looking, that could get awkward.
"You're Alex?" someone asked. I nodded absently before sliding back into the sand. My stomach really didn't feel good, and there was no sense in making myself feel worse than I did already. "Are you okay?" I nodded again, still not aware of who was speaking to me.
"Yeah, I'll be fine," I murmured, stretching out against the warm sand. "Just fine."
