The Kryon Swarms Attacked suddenly, without warning. There is little tell as to wether the attack was planned or not. The little that is known is written digitally in great tomes within databases on the surviving ships controlled by Vagabond Commanders, as the crushed and defeated survivors from the Empire came to call themselves, who drift from friendly colony to the next, making as many allies as they can in this universe. The Vagabond fleets, they are called, the gypsies of the universe. This is what Humans were reduced to, after the Kryons, Terrible creatures, similar in appearance to lizards crossed with insects, all of the most deadly attributes combined into killing machines. They take many forms, mutations on their ships (Which are really just enormous Kryon Goliaths) being more commonplace than the Common cold, which didn't necesarrilly die with the earth.

In short, the Solar system that was home to the Empirial race of Humans, was obliterated under the sheer numbers of the Kryons. Those that survived fled to Neighboring allies, such as the D'oord, Hulking grey trollike creatures that had the inteligence and manpower necessarry to obliterate any race. They were just so darned peaceful, probably an attribute offered by their immense wisdom. There they rebuilt and dispersed, now manning in three main Clans: the Helion Republic, the Muorrok Colony, and the Craetmiir Guild. Even in their dire situation, they wage war within eachother, taking claims to the ruined remains of the solar system, almost but not totally abandoned by the Kryons in their quest for Universal destruction.

The threat on the Universe, however, still exists. The Kryons make no friends, preferring to destroy anyone in their way. No one race can possibly hope to stand a chance against their massive hoards. There is only one deffense against such malice, and in such numbers.

So figure it out.

How it's gonna go down.

So anyway, Here's what you're gonna do to create your characters. You will (preferably) use the template provided to create your character, and post it up on the DT. viewtopic.php?f=200&t=96490

POSSIBLE RACES

Human
Spoiler
Humans are, at this point in time, vastly different. The life expectancy for the average human is about 120 years old, and that is AFTER the Kryon Swarm came in and destroyed the entire system. At this point, the Sun has already exploded, but rather uneventfully. It's massive change in gravity actually caused a massive meteorite to come in and take out Saturn. This meteorite, after hitting Saturn, Terraformed itself. It was godsend, and the Humans moved there. While living there, they advanced in medicine, and military. The latter advancement led to the new Roman empire, which was led by a man whose name history refuses to remember. He was the new Hitler, the only difference is that it worked. He didn't focus on the color of skin, or hair. He focused on military competence. Essentially, over the course of many generations, he was able to genetically alter the entire human race, creating what he saw as "Ideal soldiers." Nowadays, although the human race is still naturally good at war, the Vagabond Fleets spread over the Universe aren't strong enough to wage war with anyone. Except themselves of course. Humans are petty that way, fighting over how the Vagabonds should go about the human populace, and revenge against the Kryons. This lead to a feud, that started between three brothers. They split up, and it was a blood feud ever since, wether it be full scale, or just a cold war. No human would dare to call it peace, though. More of a Rivalry. They are allies with the D'oord, the Ard'ekk, Elves, Dwarves, and (with the Muorrok Colonies) with the Shredders.

Ard'ekk
Spoiler
The Ard'ekk are beings of considerable inteligence. They are mostly humanoid, despite being very tall and thin, and having ten fingers on each hand. Plus, they're skin ranges in collor from, well, any collor really. But it's always one solid collor. They don't really know why. They never took the time to care. With their massive inteligence they have advanced in the field of Elemental Control through psychic means. Humans reffer to this technique as magic. They are capable of a massive array of "Spells" as Humans call them. Really, they're more like computer programs. Despite being totally organic, Ard'ekk function alot like computers, addapting to situations quickly and learning and remembering alot of things. Their memory storage is massive. Their biggest flaw is that, once maximum capacity is reached, an Ard'ekk literally just lays down and dies. Since the Ard'ekk have massive memories, however, it is more likely that they die from an injury. They tend to have poor immune systems and physical strength. Their status with alliances is only with the D'oords and with the Humans. They really don't care, though. They are sort of selfish in their quest for knowledge. They only live around a hundred years.

Shredders
Spoiler
Shredders really are what they sound like. Not paper shredders. They are big, red, Monstrous Humanoids, reptilian in form, each standing an average of eight feet tall, with long, strong arms, and long legs, and hard exoskeletons. They tend to like big guns and big swords, but more than anything, they are vain. Their greatest pride is in their tails, which they adorn with different blades, which is all their really good for. Their only real industry is in their weaponry. They have the some of the most advanced weapons ever seen by the universe, and have developed very large warships. That's another thing. Shredders don't just build passenger ships. There are no passengers. They are the Universes Cultural equivalent of the Spartans. Their only real Ally in the universe is the Muorrok Colony Humans, who find eachother very admirable. It is not uncommon for deep friendships to form between a Shredder and a Human from this Colony. With more regards to appearence, picture a hunched over red Humanoid with long arms and legs, and a small head that looks kind of reptilian. They look like Kryons, and it may be that the first Kryon was a Shredder clone gone horribly wrong, which they banished to some other planet. The Kryon survived, and became the terrible threat that everybody faces today. But they are never mistaken for Kryons, since they have smaller exoskeletons. They last about as long as humans.

Jerdaach
Spoiler
Jerdaach are very selfish, and seldom take the sides of anyone in a war, leastwise Humans. If they side with anyone, it would be with the Shredders; and reluctantly so. They are small, and look alot like goblins if you can picture it. They are cunning and sly, developing some of the stealthiest weapons. They have a vast industry in Blinkmetal, an allow that is used to build cloaking devices. They use it in armor and weapons, to render their armies very formiddable indeed. They also have developed alot of poisons, and chemical warfare. On top of all of this, they have some of the best immune systems in the universe. No bacteria or virus lasts long in the body of a Jerdaach. The first thing on any Jerdaach's mind is money. They live for an average of three hundred and fifty years, due to their immune systems.

Dwarves
Spoiler
Short and Stoic, they are named so by humans because of their resemblence to the mythological depiction of dwarves on Old Earth. They have a Rivalry against elves, but don't really hate them. They are famous for their mastery over creating and engineering. Now, this is where they differ from earth dwarves: They are totally fireproof, and have very tough skin. Not tough enough to stop a blaster, but it will be hard to get through with most needles that Jerdaach would use to poison armies. Also, their fireproofness makes them impervious to most lazers, though it does hurt quite alot. They tend to like the company of humans, and love to eat and be merry. They are, possibly, the most widely appreciated race in the universe. They live for around two hundred years.

Elves
Spoiler
Elves are the only other race that has any real mastery over what humans would call "Magic." They have their culture set very different from the dwarves, but have a legendary industry in medicine and potions. Their weapons aren't half bad, but not nearly as good as those of the dwarves, which aren't nearly as good as the weapons of Shredders. They aren't usually fighters, but the fighters produced by this race are proud and fierce. They don't fancy humans, usually, but it isn't unheard of that an elf will run away with a human. They look alot like humans in many ways. They also have a very long life excpectancy, veering off at about seven hundred years.

D'oord
Spoiler
The D'oord are a very methodical race, never making the same mistake twice, though the fact that they made the mistake in the first place is difficult for many to concieve. The D'oord are agreeable and peacefull. They have the knowledge of mathamatics and physics necesarry, and the recoursces necesarry to take over the universe. But they are selfless, and wise. They are normally pacifist, and very religious to their god, D'uorekk. They have stern beliefs in the afterlife, and fear nothing worse than displeasing their god. It is, as said in their tomes and "bibles", that if they attack another species, or nation of D'oords, they will be forced to endure the pain of their death forever in their afterlife. I.E if they burned to death, they would spend their whole afterlife with the sensation of being on fire.

STRICTLY EVIL RACES

Kryon
Spoiler
Kryons are numberless in form, and size. Some Kryons get to be large enough to be used as transport ships for more Kryons. These Kryons are classified as Pod Kryons, or Hivemothers. Others are larger than Tyranosaurs, some getting to be twice as big. They are classified as Kryon Behemoths, or Laviathans. Then there's the basic foot soldiers, which look like exoskeletal velociraptors with organic guns and wicked claws. They don't have the best brains, though, with only a working Memory of Twenty Hours. They don't live long either. They are born when a Kryon kills an organic lifeform, and sets its eggs. The offspring, only one Kryon, will eat the entire thing. Kryon Hivemothers are made when either a Kryon has mutated, and recieved a gene that allows it to eat and digest, and just eats untill it has consumed enough to make it the size of a warship. Most Kryons only eat once, and live untill the energy runs out, in which case it eats it's own body down to nothing, literally melting in a matter of hours. They mutate natural weapons based on what the conciousness of the mother Kryon thought would make it the best killing machine. This is why none of them are born particularly smart. Those that have addapted a real digestive system, however, live to be twenty or so, before they just recieve a natural killcode in their primitive DNA, and just drop dead. IT IS NOT RECOMENDED TO PLAY ONE. THE INPUT OF THIS RACE IS PURELY FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES.

Raukor
Spoiler
These beings are large, monstrous beings that tend to hate everything, making occasional exceptions for other Raukor. They are uncanny in their telepathic communication ability, making them deadly in a way. However, they are very large creatures that stand on four legs. They are covered in a spiny exoskeleton, like spiked plate mail, and have massive tails with crushing morning-stars on the ends. They have a very primitive space program, and more often will hire other evil races to drive them arround. They work mainly as mercenaries, and have an impractical and reasonless hatred for Humans, especially Muorrok. They once had a grudging respect for Shredders, but that disappeared when they allied with their mortal enemy. They live for about eighty years.

ALLEGIANCES

Helion Republic
Spoiler
These are the hopefull men that long for the revival of the old Empire. They follow all of the morals that came out of it, and try their best to colonize where they can. Their military might is not their strong point, but they have few enemies to begin with, and always have allies. They tend to go to Muorrok for help alot, but are the proudest of all Human Clans. They have continued advances in physics, and have starships who's performance is unrivaled. They normally give these ships over to the Muorrok in return for help with Colonization, which normally keeps a steady supply going for the Muorrok Colony. Helion people are normally morally straight, good people. They believe in freedom and peace. They are, to warlike civilizations, goody goody and unbearable.

Muorrok Colony
Spoiler
This Clan is also known as the "Vengefull Vagabond" fleets. They normally have some of the best ships and weapons, between their own exploits, those of the Helion, and those of the Shredders. They don't get into war as often as they would like, simply because it is rare that people will needlessly take on these mighty warriors. They are raised for war, and making war machines. They are a hardy folk. Even as warriors, though, they are a somewhat delightful bunch. They allways make the best, making jokes and being obnoxious. They are favorites to Shredders, and occasionally dwarves. They have an ingenious industry amongst the Vagabond Fleets regarding their Exoskeletons, robotic suits that act as power suits of armor, hulking mechs that can holster bigger and badder guns.

Craetmiir Guild
Spoiler
They truly are Vagabonds, forging alliance after alliance, and learning all that can be learnt from every race met. They are the most diverse buch of Vagabonds, as humans come to be known in the universe. They almost always are multilingual, and some even have mastered machines that can harness "magic." Their greatest industry is in their food. They are the best cooks in the universe. Being such, well, vagabonds, they get a chance to cook almost everything.

NON HUMAN ALLIANCES

Kryon Cultists
Spoiler
A vast cult, whose members are mostly maddened survivors of Kryon raids, or psychopath anarchists who would watch the universe burn with a medium soda in one hand and a bag of popcorn in the other. This is a cult of insane people, led by an insane leader, a Shredder named Buordokk. They steal most of their supplies, and raid small ships, in a very Kryon like fashion. They almost Worship Kryon's, a sick deity that, they think, will have no mercy on the universe. In order to protect their afterlife, they must praise and worship the Kryon race. Truly, an insane bunch.

Hrettgar
Spoiler
They are the anti humans, an alliance that a mixed amount of some other races with rouge ships have owed their allegiance. They are bent on just destroying every Vagabond ship they see. In space, they are the equivalent of Nazi's, not to discourage people from joining. Needless to say, no humans allowed. They hate and blame humans with a passion, pledging their destruction.

Slaneiir
Spoiler
This is more of a nation, a legitimate government of the Elves and Dwarves on their home planet. This Republic is more homeward based, but has some colonies around the home system of the Elves and Dwarves. Like two political parties, they argue who will lead the Slaneiir. Elves and Dwarves make up the bulk of this allieance, though Humans who have become citizens from either immigrating or marrying and elf or dwarf sometimes become active members of the government, though they never really get very high in the rankings.

Peacekeepers Guild
Spoiler
This Guild is mainly consistent of the D'oord, who preach peace in all of it's respects. It is a monestary of sorts. All races are welcome, though Slashers rarely ever join. But the D'oord are a welcoming race.

Other questions that may need answers.
Spoiler
It has been agreed on throughout most of the universe that 'Universal' be taught in school to all Races. Universal is the common language, so don't worry about that. It's what most people speak anyway. The currency in the universe is, by some prank of the D'oord, who produced this idea, is Spacebucks. Everybody was too buisy chuckling about the idea to contest it. Spacebucks. Yep.

FIRST POST!!!
Daahil "Sledge" Delenduur

He awoke groggily to the clanging of someone knocking at the door. He had a splitting headache, probably from lack of sleep. They had been attacked the other day, if you could call it an attack. Some ten man crew of Kryon Cultists had rushed the ship on a rickety old torpedo. It was outmoded. At least that was the kindest way to put it. But the disturbing part was it's decor. It's war paint was blood, different shades of blood. Slasher blood, human blood, all kinds of blood. And their torpedoes... Daahil grimaced at the memory. It was filled with frozen heads, probably from the vacuum of space. He wasted no time blowing it out of the sky, but there was no leader on board. When they tried to "Negotiate", meaning "Bellow threats over the com." the man in charge said that he was "one of many." Daahil hated that. And to begin the day, he had to answer his door.

"Who is it?" he called, raising out of his bunk. His feet pretty much reached the end of the bed, but it was better then what the other soldiers got. It was one perk of being a captain.

"It's the Helion." said a voice. "It's that time of year again, captain."

Crap. "I'll be right out." It was the tenth year, which meant that the Helion called a conference with all of it's extended allies. This meant that Muorrok and Craetmiir would both have to show up, and possibly also the slashers from Moukheiil would probably be there, seeing as they were Daahil's closest allies. Maybe even the Slaneiir Elves and Dwarves would show up. He couldn't count on anyone else, but he was sure that he wasn't the only one showing up.

He was also sure he wasn't the only one not looking forward to it.

"Are they on the Com?" asked Captain Daahil as he strode from his quarters. His footfalls were heavy and sharp, his combat boots bearing the weight of his enourmous bulk. He was enourmous, bulging with muscles. It didn't help that he was carrying around a twenty five pound custom made Blast Maul. It was probably his most prized possesion. It was, after all, originally made for his father.

"Yes, sir." said the courier, a slim young man in his early adulthood. "Right in the main Conferece room."

"Perfect." said Daahil. He thougth to himself. Why can't we have these stupid conferences over the com? Why do we have to go all the way over to the Helion Republic System? He managed to keep his composure as he strode into the main conference room. There a Helion Senator was standing almost at attention, badges glinting in the hologram. He looked very impatient. Daahil wondered happily just how long this man had been kept waiting. His men knew not to wake him. There was no concequence, it was just a respect thing. He knew that they must have kept him very busy with the whole "cannot be disturbed" spiel. This poor senator had to talk to every captain out there.

Indeed he was impatient. "Meeting. Five hours. Be there." and the hologram shut off. That was it. Daahil sighed.

"Alright, make for the Helion Republic Embassy station." said Daahil into the com, holding down a small red button.

"Roger that, captain." said the pilot. "Don't ya just love these meetings."

"So much that I see them in my nightmares." said Daahil. The pilot laughed. "Get us there."

"Will do, captain." said the pilot.

The Sledgehammers black armor hid it from pretty far away, but up close it was a daunting sight. It was a gift from the Helion Republic Commander in Chief, after he had saved his ship. It's windows were also tinted black, but could be faded for two way viewing. It was magnificent, a massive cigar shaped vessel with guns and cannons galore, and the hardest armor in the buisness. It was, like most things Daahil liked to call his own, custom made for war. It's thrusters blasted silently, and the ship was propelled silently on course. Then, without warning, the hyperdrive kicked in. In about five minutes they were outside the Helion Republic station, waiting for clearance to dock. Daahil noticed the Dawn Treader, also getting ready to park, and shortly behind it was the Loreley. This would be interesting.

As soon as he parked his ship, a long droning process. Too many rules around here. Takes forever to get anything done. It must've been three hours before the line was gone, and another half hour just to clear the ship for docking, and boarding, a twenty minute process in and of itself. By then he was just about ready to skip a certain conference. But he went anyway.

The Commander in Chief began to speak, going through the opening ceremony. This was another hour. Time poorly wasted. Daahils gaze wandered and picked out Captain Za Blacksung, a half elf that supported his own Alliance, who was looking amusedly at him from accross the room. He felt his own face twist into a kind of I remember you sort of grin. He nodded, and she grinned back. It was a second after this that dull thuds could be heard, followed by the blaring of an alarm.

"A Kryon Cultist Fleet is attacking the station! All crewmembers to your ships immediately!"

Poor guy didn't even get to start his big speech. Thought Daahil. He was the only crewmember who had left his ship, so he could expect for the Sledgehammer to be ready for take off immediately. They'd better be...

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

Michael Rathon - Helion Republic
The filthy old man was on his knees, desperately reaching for the filled syringe in my hand. "Now now, take it easy." I held him of by putting my foot on his chest and pushing him back. "I'm not gonna give you this for free. Either you pay me, or my assistant here will take care of you." The threat was vivid in my voice, and my guard cracked his knuckles to underline what I had just said. He was a shredder, one of the few in the Helion Republic, and people had learned to fear him.

The mans eyes darted from object to object in my room, obviously trying to come up with something. I was the only drug dealer on the ship that would accept information instead of money. "A conference is going to be held tomorrow at our embacy."

I sighed despondently. "Everyone knows that already." I turned towards my guard. "Deal with him, will you?"

"Nonono! Wait, I know more. I heard two soldiers speaking. It will be held at nine am." I had already attained the information from elsewhere, but he could probably see that I was interested in the subject, so he continued talking. I motioned for him to keep talking, and suddenly the words flowed out of his mouth. "And I have heard that one can climb into the room through an airshaft. I know the name of a man who maintains the airshafts of this ship, he can point you in the right direction."

I smiled, and the man seemed relieved. "His name?"

"Jerry White, he spends his evenings in Ring's Inn."

I tossed the syringe to the junkie. "Get out of here before I change my mind."

---

People turned to look at me when I entered the inn. Everyone in the slum knew my name, though how they felt about me varried greatly. "Is there a Jerry White here?" I asked the innkeeper. He pointed me towards a man sitting in the corner, a pint of ale in front of him.

I walked over to him and sat down. "I need some information," I said with a friendly smile.

"About the vents? It'll cost you," he said quietly, and looked around to make sure no one was listening. What an idiot. There was always someone listening in these parts.

"How much? I need to get in to the conference room of the embacy."

"Is that so?" he sneered. "Well, I've heard about you before. You'll do whatever I ask, won't you?" Oh, great. One of those perverted bastards.

"Not everything, but most things, yes." I seriously considered ordering my guard to beat him up. That would save a bit of time, and much humiliation.

"I need you to do something for me." Something? "You see, my sister's fiancé has run of with some other woman.." I almost started laughing. He wanted me to find his future brother-in-law? Some of the things people asked of me was unbelievable.

"What's his name?"

"Bert Laurels."

I snickered. I didn't even have to go looking. "Recently started working in the transport hall." I knew because I paid him to let me know what was being transported where and when. High up politicians paid good money to know who we're selling and buying weapons and supplies. "Lives near the old library." There was the new library in the richer area of the ship, and then there was the old, abandoned library in the slum. Nowadays it was used as shelter for the homeless, and was located in the worst part if the slum.

The man looked slightly surprised. "You sure do live up to your reputation. Lets go, I'll lead you to the conference room."

---

Oh, could they stop with the polite speeches and just get to the point? This was a waste if my time, and as they say, 'Time is money'. I had almost fallen asleep among the rafters above the conference room, when a sudden shout startled me.

"A Kryon Cultist Fleet is attacking the station! All crewmembers to your ships immediately!"

Finally something was happening.

General Krauld - Hrettgar
Paperwork. I hated it, but it had to be done. Why did people still call it paperwork when you didn't really use paper? All I had to do was record my voice, but it was still tedious work.

The Hrettgar fleet hadn't attack anyone in a long time, and my men and I were getting restless. If someone didn't give us something or someone to kill soon, there would be a mutiny. Maybe a mutiny wouldn't be too bad. If I took command..

"Re-state your mission."

"Infiltrate and gain information, sir. Target ship, the Sledgehammer; captain Daahil Delenduur. I am to stay on the ship, gathering information on the enemies, and remain there until instructed to do otherwise."

"Good... good. Now, go off. Our men are getting ready to attack. This is your chance to get on board. Remember, you're disguise is that you've been captured by us and got away during the raid. I'm trusting you to put up a believable act."

"Yes, sir. You can count on me, sir."

--

"A Kryon Cultist Fleet is attacking the station! All crewmembers to your ships immediately!"

J'hun, one of my crewmen, snapped the handcuffs onto me and put a gag on my mouth. With his help I was able to blend into the commotion and stumble my way onto the ship. It has been a while since we bothered the common with our attacks, so commotion was high. People tripped over their feet trying to get back on board, to flee. My men practically danced around the frightened folk, slashing carelessly, looking bored. I could have laughed, but my current situation prevented that. Their orders today were not to kill, but to create a diversion large enough to plant me in enemy territory. They were to leave as soon as my position was secure.

I caught J'hun's eyes just as he tosses aside some brave crewman and nodded, the signal for them to wrap it up and depart.

The cuffs on my wrist bit into my skin and I winced whenever I jostled them. I needed a break. Honestly tired, I sat down on the deck of the ship and slumped against the wall. I've been up for far too long. My head spun and I forced my eyes to stay open.

"Hey, you okay?"

I growled on instinct, but quickly turned the malicious noise into a pained groan - it was not hard to do considering the actual pain I was in.

"F-fine. Whe- where is your... your captain?"

"Sir Delenduur? He's not back yet, but he should be soon. I'll wait for him with you. Where are you from?"

"Escaped from... Cultists in the r-raid."

Infiltration, success. Next step, information gathering. Must maintain disguise.

Daahil "Sledge" Delenduur

He was right about the ship being ready. What he hadn't expected was for a prisoner of the Cults to have already escaped and made it over to his ship.

"Who's this?" he asked the guard.

"Prisoner, sir. Says he's escaped from the Kryon Cultists." said the guard. Daahil was skeptical. He knew of the Ard'ekk, and their ways with magic. If this particular 'escapee' was more than he seemed, he would be trouble. "Board him onto the ship. And get him a chair, maybe some water. He lookes exausted. Must've been a tough ride." said Daahil. The Ard'ekk merely nodded. Daahil didn't trust him, but he wasn't about to doom him if his suspicions were wrong. He supported him as he sat down on a chest in the main loading area of the ship. He wasted no time with formalities, making straight for the com on the wall.

"Kryon Cultists are attacking. You know the drill." he said.

"Aye-Aye, cap!" said the entire crew. They were too cheerful for this job. Daahil loved his crew. He loved this ship.

"Let's kick some Cultist ass." he said into the mike. A cheer rose from the men. He marveled at their enthusiasm, but not too long. He had to go to control center. If the Ard'ekk was a bad guy, he wasn't much. He didn't do anything to immediately help the Kryon Cultists as his men sent fighters out to clear them out. In no time, an entire cruiser was up in smoke. The cruiser, with all due respect, was a piece of shit as far as Daahil had seen. It was not meant for war.

A loud and muffled The station had been boarded, however, and not enough people were boarding their ships in time. There was no one-shot way to take care of the boarding vessels without harming the station, so he just cursed. Then he realized that his ship was the only one that could take off. An EMP had hit the station, and they were starting to do some major damage. The Station was on emergency power, and the other ships couldn't take off. Crap. Without further arguement, he put his second in command in charge, and made for his fighter.

"Going somewhere, captain?" asked the second in command.

"Yep." said Daahil as he passed.

"Be back for dinner, ok?" he teased.

"Depends on what you'll be cooking." and he was off. He hopped into his ship, a sleek black pod like ship, that didn't have to many guns. It was fast though, built for boarding. Then he raced through the Airshields on the Station and hopped out, his rifle slung accross his back, and the mace like form of his blast maul in hand. Kryon cultists were swarming from a pod that had landed right in the loading bay. Before any more could escape, He ran up and fully extended his Blast Maul, bringing it down on the door with trememdous force. It effectively clamped it shut, crushing many within, and trapping the rest. But there were cultists everywhere, and not enough guards. He realized that he should have brought in some footmen, but it was too late now. He put away his Maul, and took out his rifle, and started shooting from behind the pod. The sharp snapping of his blaster among the cultists shredded through ther light armor. There was no way that the Kryon Cult actually hoped to win this fight. They were painfully ill equipped. Their guns looked like antiques, and some may have been, firing actual metal rounds at people, bouncing harmlessly off of armor. Guards were swarming in now, and Daahil rallied them up and carved through cultists as though they were a soft cheese. Then, just like that, power was regained. The remaining Cultists, to the horror of the guards, simply exploded, a shower of gore painting each wall red. Great. They had found a new toy. No doubt this was an anti morale tactic, possibly used to prevent any captured soldiers from being interrogated. Some of the newer guards could be seen vomiting on the floor. The sickly sweet stench of blood wafted through the air on this now heavily damaged station. It had sustained more on the outside than Daahil had thought. The EMP they used must have knocked out most of the deffense systems.

Shortly after all of the cultists exploded, the power came back on. The Sledgehammer was still the only ship that could have taken off, but now many ships were taking off and leaving, though some seemed to have stayed to help with repairs. He looked out the window, and saw the Sledgehammer, not a scratch in her armor. 'Atta girl. He pulled his comunicator to his mouth and called up the second in command.

"Could you send me a ride back? And don't expect it to come back right away. No doubt they'll want me to stay back and listen to the stupid meeting, seeing as how it was interupted by a cult attack."

"No problem. That was an easy fight, anyway." said his second in command.

"Then why am I so worried?" said Daahil.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

The dim room was calm and quiet. I was sitting on a mediation pillow with lit candles levitating around me. I was meditating by focusing my mind on keeping the candles moving in a circular motion. Trying to relieve a bit of stress. Deep breaths in deep breaths out. My eyes closed. I was finally starting to center myself, when a knock came on my door. Dammit . What the hell is so important they have to disturb me? I had half a mind not to answer and let them wander around looking for me, but decided not to. With eyes till closed I sighed, "What?"

The door opened, and Boomer walked into the room. "It's the Helion,. It's that time of year again, captain."

The candles around me flared to life, their flames blazing hotter as my eyes shot open, and he jumped back a step. I stood up and to look at him. "Is that it?"

"Y-yes, captain." he cleared his voice.

"You"re dismissed." I turned to grab my pillow.

As the door closed behind me, I bent to pick up the now unlit candles and pillow before heading to the main conference room with another sigh. Damn Helion, I thought. Entering the the room, there was a man on the hologram. A Helion Senator standing almost at attention, badges glinting in the hologram. Thick short back hair and lightly tanned skin with pearly white teeth and amber eyes most women would go gaga over. But this was a man I knew all too well to fall for something as mundane. I smiled. "Well well, Sebastian. Didn't think i'd be seeing you for some while."

He smiled back. "Think again."

I headed over to the upper balcony and braced the rail there. "So, what's up?"

He gave an exasperated sigh. "You know. Helion Republic meeting. Five hours. Hurry your ass up."

I gave him a mock salute. "Yes sir Senator sir!!"

I rolled his eyes and the hologram cut off. I looked down at everyone. "Well? You heard him. Helion republic system right now!!"
*************

Finally arriving at this damned meeting, I walk into the conference room where everyone else is and wait for thing to get started. I look around to see who's all here, and my eyes land on a gargantuan of a man. He has dark brown eyes, and tan skin. His hair is jet black, and falls down his back in a ponytail. Also clean shaven. And human. Hm. He was dressed in the usual military garb, so I couldn't tell whether or not he had scars, but something about the look in his eye told me differently.

My eyes left him and fell on another man. Up in the rafters. Hm. Some wasn't supposed to be here. It was easy for me to make him out, but not as much as i'd like. 6'1, athletic build. Light gray eyes that matches his hair and fair skin. One look told me he was human. There was something about him I didn't like. Before I could survey the crowd anymore, an alert sounded.

My eyes drifted over to a woman. Ah. Captain Za Blacksung.

"A Kryon Cultist Fleet is attacking the station! All crew members to your ships immediately!"

Fuck!! Are you kidding me!? Everyone made a mad dash for their ship. I just walked. With everyone squawking around like it was the end of the world someone was bound to get hurt. I got back to my ship to find everyone in high gear and waiting for my orders. I smiled. I was proud of them all. An EMP rocked through the ship and everything went off line, crashing my mood. Ugh!! Just then the back up power kicked in, unsouring my mood a little. "Move move move it soldiers!!Get those shields up! Get those thrusters at full power!"

Lights were going off like supernova and other were starting to take damage. People were boarding their vessels, but not fast enough. "What the hell are these people doing? Walking with a cane?"

"The ship is ready for take off, Captain!" came a voice.

I was about to give an order, when something occured to me. Even with an EMP, they couldn't have hoped to win this attack. So what were they doing here? I stood, thinking for probably only a few minutes, when there was an explosion that lit up space. The cultist ships was now gone. I looked down. "Damage control!"

"Shields at a hundred percent!" someone chimed.

"Thrusters at full capacity." another voice.

Several more chimed in, giving the all clear, and once I was satisfied, I nodded. "Alright then. Any free hands with me. Repairs need to be made to other ships. Some weren't as lucky as us. And I still have to go to this god damned meeting, so move those asses NOW!!"

They all hustled to keep up with me as I headed back to the damned ship for this meeting. Something wasn't right. That was too easy. I mean, the cultists can be stupid at time, but this stupid? I shook my head. No. They had something planned. Now someone just had to figure out what.

I scurried around the Embassy Station, trying to look like I was on a mission, trying to look like I was supposed to be there. Because I definitely wasn't.

Being around all these powerful people would be great for business if I could corner one into buying something of a friend's... or at least place a bet on one of the several races going on all over the universe.

I passed a conference room with several hotshots in it, but kept going, knowing I couldn't pass for acceptable there. I had just found suitable prey when an alarm began to blare and a voice sounded, "A Kryon Cultist Fleet is attacking the station! All crew members to your ships immediately!"

I frowned darkly and let the guy go, not wanting to cause a disaster... yet. There was a dash to the ships, and I tapped a long fingernail against my leg, unsure of what to do. I had almost decided to stow away on another ship, which was the way I had gotten here in the first place, but held back for a moment and then it was too late.

Cultists, the crazy fuckers that they are, stormed the place before I could slip onto a ship in the chaos. Instead, I found myself firing at several, smiling to myself.

I caught a glimpse of a huge guy wielding something markedly mace-like.

When the last cornered cultists exploded, I grimaced at a spatter of hot blood that landed on my arm and had to fight back a wave of nausea. As light flickered back on and alarms finally stopped ringing, I found myself, in the chaos of the moment, being herded toward the conference room with a group of others.

"Ah..." I began, but I was already inside. I looked around and slunk to a corner, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. If I could find out some information, why shouldn't I try to?
