I walked in the door about 10 minutes early to my first hour short stories class. My teacher sees me and yells out the following. "BEN! I have a story for you. I was grading your short story on Sunday, and all of the sudden my family hears me yell 'DAMNIT BEN.' they all stopped what they were doing to ask me what was wrong. I read your story and it was so good I googled it to see if it was actually yours. I found it online and it took me a while to realize that you were the one who posted it!"

I'm paraphrasing a bit, but that's probably one of the best compliments/worst insults I've received on something I wrote. I really don't know how to feel. On one hand, She enjoyed it. On the other hand, she didn't think I could write something like that. D:

So, YWS, what's the best/most interesting remark an instructor has ever left on your work before?

Hey, that's great :D
But they all didn’t see the little bit of sadness in me.

I'd take it as a compliment. It's a bit like how I wrote some assessment on drugs and my teacher thought I'd copied and pasted it. On the one hand, he thought my work was good enough to have come from a professional source (though, to be honest, I was thirteen at the time, so it can't have been that good) but on the other hand, how dare he think I'd copied and pasted!
The backs of my eyes hum with things I've never done.

A couple years back, I was narrating one of my poems to the class (it was an assignment, everyone was supposed to write something and then read it out). So, my poem had something about 'learning to fly with broken wings' and when I finished, my teacher has a slight smile on his face, he pauses and then asks me, "Good, but why are the wings broken?" :D

Now how can you possibly answer that? :D It was a crazy day...
You either worship something higher than yourself or end up worshiping yourself
