'ow'd'y'do?
I'm Dave. I came here by way of a friend of mine who said I might be able to do well on this site, as I dabble in quite a bit of writing.
If you guessed I am quite a nautical person. Apart from writing (well, not really, the two are practically one and the same) I am a historical reenactor. I am a Midshipman with HMS Acasta, we're a Royal Navy reenactment group that portrays the crew of the ship of the same name. We blog often. Therefore, I tend to write historical fiction, mostly nautical adventures in the French Revolutionary/Napoleonic Wars. I have a series of short stories in the works based on my persona as Midshipman, from my first voyage in 1803 from England aboard a convict escort ship, HMS Charter, to Botany Bay, to my transfer aboard HMS Terpsichore in 1804 (a real historical frigate of 32 guns, most famously commanded by captain Richard Bowen, who daringly attacked the largest warship in the world, La Santissima Trinidad), to my transfer aboard HMS Acasta on the North American station in 1807. I write for our blog, http://www.hmsacasta.com.
I look forward to reviewing and being reviewed.
Fair winds!
