I smile and ruffle Kyle's hair before sitting back and letting them continue.

Her father studies the two of us before nodding and looking down, "I didn't... I don't think I could let you give it up anyway. It's wrong."

He seems to relive something in his eyes before shaking his head and pinching the bridge of his nose.

Ella

I smirk and clap again when he gets the next one right.

Halee

I study him before hugging Luce's arm, "I can handle this. I'm...I'm almost seventeen. Its just...It's just a baby."

Ian

I smile and watch, resting my chin on one hand.

Her father almost smiles at what she thinks, shaking his head, "It's not just a baby, Hales. You understand that when you have the bundle in your arms and you can't take your eyes off of it. It changes everything. Ask your Aunt Rayah or Uncle Jace. They were about a year older than you, but they'll say the same thing. I don't doubt that you're strong enough to handle it. I'm afraid I'm wrong."

Ella

He finishes and I scoop him up, putting his papers away.

Halee

I nod and freeze when my mom appears next to my dad, arms crossed and her fangs bared, "I swear...if...if what your father told me was true, you...I can't even say it."

Ian

I sigh and watch, feeling a little out of sync with everything.

I swallow again. Halee's father hesitates before shaking his head and turning to his wife, "Let them be, Jacks. They'll be okay."

Ella

I sigh, "I'mma get him something to eat."

Halee

I swallow and my mom shakes her head, dissapearing and reappearing behind Luce, grabbing him and slamming him back against the wall, "What the hell were you thinking?"

Ian

I nod and take him from her, asking him about his day.

My head spins and I don't know what to do, my heart pounding in my ears. Images flash before my eyes and my breath becomes sharp and harder to come by. Halee's father pries his wife away from me and holds her back, but I can't make out what he says. I slide down to the floor and take my head in my hands, trying to relax.

Ella

I make him some pasta, turning the stove on.

Halee

I crouch infront of Lucian and take his fas in my hands and asking if he's okay. My mom actually ends up biting dad to get him to let go if her and then comes to me, grabbing me and dragging me into another room.

Ian

I smile at his responses, loving the grin on his face and the excitement in his response.

Her father shakes his arm out, looking at the wound before glancing at where his wife took Halee, "Don't hurt her, Jacks! Let it be!"

He hesitates before looking to me and helping me stand, asking if I'm alright. Not getting a response, he swallows and grips my wrist, leading me to where Halee and her mother are.

Ella

I smile and listen to them.

Halee

With her vampire speed, she slams me against the wall, cracking it in the process before getting in my face, her strength unbelievable, "What the living hell were you thinking?!"

"I-I don't know," I respond, feeling like I'm going to double over, "I-I don't..." I try to bring a hand to my forehead, but her grip is holding me down.

She studies me before hissing and letting me go. I drop to the ground and she shakes her head before pinching the bridge of her nose, taking a deep breath to calm down.

Ian

When Kyle's done, I let him go off and play like he wants.

I drop beside Halee and ask if she's alright, her father going straight to his wife.

My eyesight shifts slightly and I nod slowly, setting a hand on my stomach. My mom argues with my dad before shaking her head and balling her hair in her hands.

I clear my mind and hold Halee close, listening to the argument.

I bury my face in Lucian's chest and clear my mind.

Lucian

I hesitate before setting a hand on her stomach, wondering what it'll be like to have someone like Kyle to look after, to call our own.
