Which Genre are You most Comfortable in?

I know we all tend to experiment in various genres and techniques but I believe at the end we all sway to one that we are comfortable in. One that we want people to know us for or see ourselves in the future writing. I normally see myself writing literary or general prose.you know, about normal stuff.

So which genre do you see yourself relate to most or are comfortable?

Supernatural. Easily. Supernatural specifically as opposed to general "fantasy." Supernatural set in our contemporary world. Quite specific I know lol.

I want to get into wider fantasy, I'd quite like to turn my hand to writing a whole new world kind of story - different races, different time flow, the whole lot. That should be a nice project for the future!

When you say supernatural set in the contemporary world do you mean Magic Realism ( Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Gunter Grass....stuff like that)?

What I write doesn't seem to fit into one clear genre but it tends to be a mix of Action/Adventure, mystery and thriller.
...Actenster. Act for action, en for adventure, st for mystery and er for thriller.

I must say I'm not familiar with those authors Puckerman96 so I'm not sure if that's what I mean or not! To describe it a bit more I mean it's our world, it's recognisably our world - but there are monsters/demons/ghosts in it, just like some people claim there really are monsters/demons/ghosts in our world.

For instance, my characters are university students but they investigate supernatural events in their spare time. The same sort of set up as Buffy or Charmed I suppose where most of the population doesn't believe in such things but the central characters know otherwise. I hope that makes a bit more sense!

Magic Realism is actually a form of writing where the supernatural blends with the normal making it look like normal too. for example=suppose a man never dies and goes on living forever and everyone seems to be viewing that as perfectly normal or suppose you're going to buy books or something and the books are flying across to you but you think there's nothing unusual in that. something like that

Literary I suppose.
I generally lean towards topics of poverty, hardship, a little bit of crime and lots of death. While my writing is generally dark I think(and I've been told) I do a good job of lacing every piece with at least some light and some hope.

I'm not entirely sure--I've tried writing in a variety of genres and I'm extremely uncomfortable with fantasy for some reason. I quite like crime, drama and some romance. I suppose I would say I'm most comfortable with social/teen-issues and drama (with maybe a touch of romance?).

I don't actually know. I definitely have this specific genre I find easiest to write, but I'm not sure what that actual genre could be classed as. coming-of-age comes to mind, but I think a few things are missing for me to be able to say that my most comfortable genre is that and only that. Maybe it's coming-of-age dashed with a few other things... Meh, I don't know.

I guess you could say fan-fiction. I've always had a talent for imitating the styles of other authors.

It's definitely high fantasy for me. Most people seem to think that it's easier to write something that's set in our world, but I find it really hard to incorporate the real-life aspects with my fiction. But I'll always keep on trying, of course.

The genre I'm most comfortable in...
Romance. Of course, romance isn't the MAIN theme in all of my writings, but more or less, the other themes/genres usually revolve around romance.

Let me just say once and for all, that I HATE contemporary romance. Something that's ALL romance and quite plain/unpredictable.

And I also LOVE fantasy/sci-fi, so blending in those genres with romance is something I love doing and also something that comes natural to me.

Totally Supernatural.

I'm writing a novel and have been for quite a while now. Anyway, when I started writing it I hadn't really even considered what genre it would fit into and still can't put a label on it. It's set in the future where the human species has started to evolve to have (I hate describing it as super-powers but bleh) advanced abilities; leaving huge pockets of humanity without these extra powers. I don't know if it's classed as sci-fi or if it's supernatural in places or fantasy. It certainly has hints of romance but that's just general, normal relationships that the character's have forged.
