The girl doesn't come back and I stand, throwing my bag over my shoulder before gathering her things. I find her in the hallway, her face buried in her knees, and sigh. Crouching at her side, I set her stuff down and try to think of something to say. Finding nothing, I stand and head into the lunchroom instead.

Something gets set at my side, and I look up a little, to see the boy walking into the lunchroom and my stuff beside me. I sigh and wipe the rims of my eyes before walking back outside, eating my lunch out there instead, liking the peace.

I get my lunch and sit at a table by myself, preferring the solitary. Ignoring the looks and murmurs about me, I eat the inedible and count the minutes on the clock until the day is over.

The bell rings but I stay where I am, ingnoring the stares from people walking to they're dorm-type-things.

The bell rings and someone who'd randomly sat down by me and rambled off for the whole lunch period not caring whether I responded practically dragged me to the dorms. I set down my bag and look around before deciding I don't want to be stuck in here. Sighing, I decide to explore the campus. About halfway through the school, I find the girl sitting all by herself outside. I hesitate again before sitting across from her.

"Uh, you okay?" I ask, "I saw what happened earlier..."

I glance up at the boy, nodding slightly, "Yes," I reply in my accent, "I'm just not used to people seeing my scetches. S'bloody hell for me."

She's British? How did I not notice that before...?

I nod and glance down, picking at a few blades of grass.

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't look," I say, "Had no reason to."

I nod and flash a weak smile, "It does. Thank you."

A couple boys pass me and start calling me by a different name, and I glance back at them before ignoring it. That totally ruined my reputation. They're calling me names now.

I run a hand through my hair before looking down, sighing.

I watch it all and shake my head, sighing. It really is just like a high school then. How did I think it'd be any different?

"Is it always like that around here?" I ask.

I nod and sigh, "Sure is," I reply, glancing back up at him, "It's--"

My so called 'friends' come up to me and chuckle at me, "Diannart," They start giggling, "Sup?"

I glare at them, shaking my head, "Just...leave me be," I snap, "Not in the mood."

One of them flicks my ear before walking off and the other follows, and I resist the erge to punch her face off, "It's not fun," I finish what I was saying, looking back down.

I shake my head again, watching her with the few that came over. They walk off and she finishes her statement.

"I can see that," I say, looking back at her, "Why...why isn't something done about it?"

I shrug, "How should I know?" I glance up at him, "I just ignore it."

I shrug back and look away, sighing, "So...basically, the only thing different about this place compared to all the others is that we're being prepared for military service. Wonderful. My folks will love hearing that."

I shrug, sighing.

Folks?

Knowing that he means family, I swallow and realize that I don't have anyone left. I nod and don't say anything more, keeping quiet as I contain my emotions.

Not wanting to dwell on the subject, I sigh and look around, "So, I'm guessing you're from England, right?"
