I see Luis and sit up a little, the sheriff looking at me, "What's you're name?"

I swallow, seeing flowers, "Rose..." I bite my lip, "Rose Tulip."

He raises an eyebrow, "Okay then..."

I curse myself mentally.

Seriously, Sam? What the f*ck is wrong with you...?

I get to my desk-thing and sit down with a mug of coffee, hoping that I don't get called out before Sam is taken out.

He sighs, looking something up on his computer.

"Sheriff," I finally say, "I have...a date in five minutes. I really need to get going."

He studies me, "We need to check you for weapons and do some tests before you leave."

I sigh before nodding, standing as I do. He leads me to the security thing and I sigh, walking through the metal detector. It goes off and I swear.

"That was because of my jacket," I say.

"Then take it off and go again," He tells me.

I nod and slip it off, walking through it again, not hearing a beep, "See? Now can I go?"

"Nope. Follow me," He leads me into another room and I roll my eyes, following.

I watch as Sam heads through the metal detector and cringe when they lead her out of my sight.

"Gotta hunch, rookie?" an older officer asks, standing behind me.

"No, just curious, sir," I reply, looking down at my paperwork, "Gotta thing for redheads, I guess."

They do some bloodwork and I end up losing a pint of blood, they lead me back out and he takes me to the front, looking through papers as two police officers stand beside me.

"You're in a lot of trouble young lady," He chuckles.

I swear and run a hand through my hair, looking away for a second.

Just...act innocent. Yeah. Act like a scared little girl.

I look back at him, thankful for my physical traits making me look younger than I really am. I fix my eyes, fake crying, "Officer, I'm sorry. I was just looking for my mom. You see, she died yesterday and I just wanted to let it all out. Please, I have a little girl at home and she needs me. I can't just leave her like this."

He glances up at me, a different expression on his face, "You married?"

I tilt my head slightly to the side, "No..."

"How do you have a little girl?" He asks.

I fix my eyes again, "I-I'm alone. I-I Don't have anyone. Things happen. She's all I have and I just--" pretending I'm too scared to finish, I wipe the rims of my eyes, "I just want to go home."

I listen to Sam's sob story and wonder why she didn't become a con artist instead of a thief.

He practically Breaks out crying and he sighs, shaking his head, "Let her go, boys."

THAT'S how you make the head of police cry.

Wiping my eyes, I nod at him respectfully, "Thank you sheriff."

He nods, shooing me off, and I walk out, smiling wide in victory.

I make my way back to Louis's apartment and plop on the couch, planning to go to sleep again. I end up falling asleep like I intended and stir in it, sighing.

I'm released from work and allowed to go home. I head back to my apartment and find Sam curled up on the couch, asleep. Flashing a smile, I drape a blanket over her and sigh.

It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.
