I grabbed him by the hand, "so Traveler my name is Axel, and your real name is?"

"It's Jack, where are you taking me?"He seemed scared and a little nervous. Of course I thought to myself not without good reason. I knew that anyone that had heard of the Enigma knew of several of my abilities.

"Okay then Jack, hold on tight oh and close your eyes for a second," I withdrew from my pocket a dagger. I stabbed into the shadows around it and lifted them around us. "Now plug your ears and cover your eyes." I walked in to the shadows and yelled. "Ernie's Place on the double."

Suddenly a horrible demon ran forward carrying a rickshaw. "Well if it ain't the Enigma, you taking visitors on the Shadow Road now that's not very you."

"Rodney you old son of a speed demon what are you doing here. I just sent you back to your old job in hell last week." Jack seemed to be listening in and about to peer. I whispered low in his ear, "grab the rosary or go mad if you really want to sneak a peek.

Jack looked stunned as he looked at Rodney as he spoke, "I still got fired the old boss didn't believe me when I said that I'd cursed you good and right instead of the other way around."

"Well it may not pay as well, but it's good to see you again Rodney. Anyway you heard me Earlier Ernie's place on the double."

"Aye aye Axel," he grabbed the rickshaw as we got in and he dashed off.

I heard Jack as he held the wrist my rosary was on, "How do you know a demon? I thought you were an evil hunter."

I replied as we arrived at the Ernie's, "I am I Rodney is just a really nice guy."

I had to admit, the sight of the demon Rodney was a surprise. However, my stomach was so uneasy I thought I was going to hurl. I excused myself and ran to a toilet to hurl out my undigested lunch. I was queasy, but not too queasy. After flushing down my vomit, I returned to Axel. "You'll have to pardon that. I'm not quite familiar with certain things and sometimes I can't take so much pressure. Even my adoptive parents know that."
Axel raised his brow at me. "You don't say. What is it about your adoptive parents that makes you so comfortable out in vampire-infested streets? You could've been drained if I didn't show up."
I chuckled darkly. "My adoptive parents were vampires themselves. My adoptive father can tell quite a highly detailed story and my adoptive mother makes great meals. They raised me and treated me like their own since I was thirteen, but not once touched my blood. According to my adoptive father, I was born with special blood- ecstacy blood, as Silver called it in The Legend of Fidelis. Only one mortal can be born with such blood, once every century with Fidelis himself being the first."
Axel tilted his head a little. "You read that book?"
I nodded. "Twice in my lifetime and many times over from my adoptive father. I call his version The Spoken Legend of Fidelis, since he spoke of Fidelis from the beginning of his vampire lifetime to the beginning of Kira's reign. Like I said, my adoptive father can tell quite a story." I sat down at a table and ordered spagetti, since the place I was in was an Italian food place. As I waited, I saw a note fly in through the door. I caught it, folded it up, and put it in my pocket. I didn't have the time to read the note. I could read it when I have a full stomach.

"Just get away from me Damian! You know I won't do it and that'll always be the answer! Now leave me be!",I roar at him barring my fangs at him.

"Ez you were not ment to be a hunter. Now please let me make you whole and show you where you really belong. Trust me and I might surprise you with some one you miss dearly.", he smirks and moves in closer to me his breath right on my neck.

I said between bites of my lasagna, a personal favorite dish of mine, "So who is the note from?" Jack looked up seemingly shocked I had noticed.

"Um...my family...well my mom and dad sort of." He looked down at his plate. "They are vampires but they never once wished to taste my blood."

I withdrew a battered old copy of The Legend of Fidelis, "perhaps your blood hadn't aged properly yet. Fidelis was older than you when he became a vampire. It's old lore and the Order of White made me study it voraciously." I took another bite of my lasagna and chewed thoughtfully, "but I'm not sure all their info is exactly correct."

I nibbled on a breadstick. "From what the book said- and my adoptive father would swear it to the goddess Maat a thousand times over- about Fidelis' origin, he was as young as eighteen when he was turned. I'm older than that, so you shouldn't think that Fidelis was older than I was the night he was turned. Even my adoptive father would tell you that." I unfolded the note and began reading.
Jack,
After a rather brutal fight with your adoptive mother that I never could win, it's time I told you the truth. I knew of your life before you first became a bloodslave. In more clear terms, I knew your true parents. Your father's name was Amos and your mother was Ruth. I knew them since their wedding night and was given the honor of being your godfather. In all my years being the immortal you knew me as, I was never given the honor of being a godparent.
When I heard that you were born, I came to your cradle and held you in my arms for the first time. You were so tiny as an infant, you could fit in just one arm. I witnessed your parents bathing you night after night, but then there came the night your parents died. They were killed by worshippers of Dracula and abducted you the night you turned three. I had to free you before it was too late. Innocent blood is the purest of blood and most addictive after the first taste.
By the time you were thirteen, I had enough of putting off my duty as your godfather. My mate and I took you in and raised you like our own. I knew that you were left untouched by all those masters who wanted you for prostitution or something far worse, which was all the more why we raised you like our own. With all honesty, you were the son I never had, as Arlan was to Fidelis. If I had sucked up and did my duty as godfather, then I wouldn't have this kind of confession to you.
Forgive me, my godson.
Your adoptive father and godfather

I folded the note and resumed eating. My adoptive father was my godfather. I never knew that until now. It was still the same thing. He raised me like I was his own son and taught me well. Godfather or not, he was the closest thing I had to a real father. I could never ask for someone as kind as him. However, I'd do anything to win the approval of Fidelis to have his daughter's hand.

"Leave me be I will never join the vampires completely!",she yells in his face loud enough for some one unexpected to hear her. Damian then toke hold of her ignoreing her as he sinks his fangs into her soft tender neck trying to wrestle her into a good position for him to get a better grip, but thanks to her being only half vamp it was harder to keep her down while he tried to complete the process.
"No don't!", she yells trying to free her arms from his grib, but she was growing weak and tired and soon wouldn't be able to resist any longer, "no..." ,she whispers as she slowly sinks into blackness.

"You know what Jack," I said with smirk on my face. "I'm going to help you out, anything you want or need all you have to do is ask." I sat there thinking to myself how to explain this away to the Order of White or the Order of Black. Neither would be thrilled at my desire to help Jack. The Order of White because they viewed all non-human entities as inhuman abortions, and the Order of Black well were a bit more confusing. They were a mixture of humans, bloodslaves, vampires, and other beings not exactly human. Even the humans in the group wished to see the rest of the human race either eradicated or beneath the heal of vampires.

Then there was me I represented a far smaller order than either one and I was the perfect double agent. I was a member of the Order of Grey. They believed that all beings could live in harmony and I was the perfect tool for them to use. I had a gift that few had I could awaken the power of ancient relics. In any other hands my swords my rosary they would be nothing more than a nice pair of sword and a holy relic. My shoes on any other feet would just be another pair of old cow boy boots but on my feet they held the power of the Ancient Winged Shoes of Mercury. Those were just a few the fools of the main orders had given the greatest warrior of the Order of Grey.

I looked at Jack measuring him up, in time he would grow to be fine heir to Fidelis's rule. "Jack I want you to consider me your personal guard." He looked at me slightly awestruck.

"Won't that cause trouble for you? I mean I've heard of what the Order of White do to those that go against even a single law of their order." He looked down the horrible thoughts of the Order of White's rumored cruelty clearly running through his mind.

"My friend I have a secret for you." I looked about the restaurant attempting to seem conspiratorial. " The Order of White need me far more than I need them. As do the Order of Black, I'll let you in on the biggest secret of this city." I leaned in closer to him to whisper in his ear. "The lawyers hold great power, as do the two orders that are at odds, but there are those like yours truly who shall turn their empires to dust. In their ruins only one order shall remain to maintain peace. We stand in the twilight bargaining for peace and when words aren't enough using force. The blade and the assassin of the Order of Grey swears his allegiance to the heir to the power of Fidelis. Jack I am at your service for whatever need you may have if you can't find me I can always find you."

Spoiler
I would like to apologize to Redfang and several others for the lateness in my posting. If you'll go to my actual profile a full explanation is there thank you.

I thought it over deeply. Heir to the power of Fidelis? That might mean being nearly untouchable by all vampires who would oppose me. On the other hand, such power might go up to my head and put my godparents to shame. I could almost see the look on my godfather's face when I tell him that I was claimed heir to legendary King Fidelis' power. My godfather's face would be covered in pride and a proud smile would form with his fangs sticking out shamelessly. However, his skin would turn very pale and eyes bloodred if the power as the new vampire King got into my head. I've seen my godfather angry. Nearly breaking anything in his rage with his natural bronze skin bleaching until he was moonlight pale and his eyes as deeply red as blood. Only once did he hit me in his rage, but that was an accident he regreted after he realized what he did.
Axel seemed to notice my silence. "What's the matter, Jack?"
I looked at Axel. "Just had a trip down memory lane. Thinking about my godfather. As I told you, he could tell quite a story, but now it makes me think he didn't tell me something about himself. I mean, I don't know much about him or the King of legend, but I hope to know more about the King from his blood heir herself. I've been hoping to see her and talk to her about her father. If I ever see her father in person, I'd ask for his daughter's hand." I sighed. I rarely tell anyone that I would ask for Kira's hand if I ever saw her father in person, but Axel felt like someone I could trust.

"Just the check please," the waitress sauntered off to get our check as I laid down a 50$ dollar bill. "Well Jack," I once again opened a portal using my knife. "Would you like to go meet your future queen?" A note flew in for me as we walked in to the portal.

"Who's that from Axel?" He looked at me inquiringly as I opened the note.

Dear Mister Luminos,

I regret to inform you that you have been called to the Castle of Kira Nemesis. I feel no need to inform you of why but Kira has demanded as much that I tell you it is due to the slaying of several vampires when your life was not being threatened, Please respond as soon as possible.

sincerely,

Lucian Blackfang

"It's from Lucian and it's our invitation to see Kira Nemesis. Let's depart my friend." I grabbed him and dashed to our destination. I stood in front of the castle next to Jack letting him take in the view.

I took in the view of the castle. It looked like from the Middle Ages. Would my godfather be so proud to make it this far in my journey. I followed Axel into the castle. There on the walls were portraits of Kira and her legendary parents, Fidelis and Delriva. Both looked like my godparents for some reason, but I couldn't put my finger on it. What kept my attention on the portraits was the appearance of Fidelis.
He was known highly for his courage whenever his family was in danger, his wizardry in the art of pottery, and utmost great age. He was sired as a vampire during the era of Ancient Egypt, one of the oldest of vampires that outlasted the Rosetta Stone. Was commonally called the Pharaoh respective of his lineage, but none ever expected him to become the vampire King. Because he was called the vampire King, no vampire had the right to provoke him. Kira, being his daughter and only child, was his successor in the line of rule.
I found myself starry-eyed as I stared at the portraits around me. Here I was, in the castle itself. I was beginning to live a lifelong dream.

"Nae Y'rrep I'm here now get out here this instant." A lanky figure appeared out from behind a column. "You knew I was coming why didn't you greet me at the door you old bastard." I walked over to him and squeezed him tight in a hug.

"Who is the boy that you've brought with you Axel I'd been told they only asked for you." He bared his fangs and jokingly spoke loud enough for Jack to hear, "Have you brought me a tasty snack."

Jack cringed as he looked at Nae. "No my friend he is with me. He's a potential suitor for our dear Kira." Nae sized him up as I spoke. "He has the potential to rival Fidelis surely your pendulum was attracted to his power."

"Mr. Y'rrep, Axel brought me here as a friend and really just for the chance to meet Kira." He walked over to the two of us and stuck out his hand to greet Nae. "But it's nice to meet a friend of Axel's he's a really nice guy and I'm sure you're the same."

Nae coughed surprised at how direct Jack was, "well yes I believe I am. Thank you young one." He leaned back revealing his fragile looking frame. "Well Axel, Kira and Lucian are waiting on you."
