Volt Betten (Ryan)

After I finish speaking the other girl walks forward presenting her armour to the professor.
“Call me Sparky,” She says after he nods, approving the armour just as he did ours, “Or Elina.”
He writes it down on the note- pad taking a second to study our names before he begins speaking again- looking at me and Kalef… or Kennith- I mentally correct myself- in particular.
“Well, my boys,” he pausing turning his full focus on me, “Ryan- You, as you have no more family, shall live with me.”
I nod, staying silent- he turns to ‘Kennith.’
“And you, Kennith, will also?"
"Yes," says the other boy before lapsing into the same silence that I have.
"Good, good. Now. We will stay here." Says Professor Eric and I glance around at our surroundings feeling kind of uncertain.
How can we stay here? It’s barely eve n a lab.
Kennith apparently has the same idea, "Here! It's like---- well, it's not even a lab...."
The professor glances around the room smiling mysteriously, “Or so you think........"
We- Kennith, Sparky and I- all stay silent for a second waiting for him to explain.

First of all, enjoyinginsanity, your thing is REALLY late. Please put it in a spoiler so it doesn't interrupt our story. Thanks :D Oh, and I think she's got TOO many powers, if you know what I mean. Either she's super strong, or she uses her nails in a special way, or she's a master poisoner but not all of them. Just one. What do you mean by a "temporary duplicator"? Oh, and on your 1st post, please put her name, her fake name, and Etw (EvilTwinster). Is she 'sparky', or 'Elina'? Post replies in the DT.

Professor Samil (Eric)
"Yes my students. This is no ordinary house. As you saw from the outside..... It is built into a cliff, or rock. It seems small. But is the contrary!" I say. I reach to where there's a cobweb. I stick my hand through it, and Sparky looks disgusted. To their surprise, the cobweb doesn't break! It holds firmly. I type in a long password, and a bookshelf that's dusty and gross, creaks. I push it back to open a small opening.
"Oh my goodness!" says Kennith.
"Yes. I'll go through. Pass me your outfits." I say. I squeeze through, and receive the outfits, which I set on a table. They begin to walk forward. "No no! Stop!" I say, but too late. Laser guns point at them. I deactivate. Then, they walk through. They each type in their new name, and a password. They look around, and see a dark, musty, stinking room.
"Eew. I-- mean. No offense, but it's-" says Ryan.
"I agree." I say, and go through a similar routine. We go through two more doors, and get in. I push them in, and sit them down at a lit up table. The room is all high tech, and neat.
"Cool!" says Kennith.
"Okay. What do you want to eat?" I say. I tap the table in a spot, and a 4D menu appears before them. The menu looks like a book, but with pop up foods, and you can smell it.
"MMMMMM!" says Ryan.
"I, personally, am starving." I say. I flip through the book, and find a pizza. They all smell it.
"How do you like.... order it?" says Ryan.
"Order? Wait? Us? No.... no no! We, of course, don't need to wait for ANYONE!" I say, I touch the 4D pizza, and pull it out. It comes nice and hot. I flip to the drinks page, and pull out a 7Up. I go to the last page, and pull some napkins out. I also pull a container with Parmesan cheese. I start eating.
"Well? Order!" I snap. They start flipping through the books like I had, and pulled out food.
What did you order? Drink? Condiments?

Sorry I haven't posted... Krose, I understand this is your storybook, but I kind of feel like you're controlling our characters too much - as in their reactions and attitudes. It might just be me, but it's making this kind of hard.

Aladria

I looked around me as Rodrig closed the door. This place was amazing! All the technology and secrecy... it was like a spy movie. I flopped onto my bed - it was soft and warm. It almost seemed too perfect.

I decided to see what was in the bathroom. Hillary was in there too, exploring. There were cabinets full of stuff - from Motrin to body lotion. This place was like a five-star hotel. Better, really.

"This is... kind of insane, isn't it?" I said to Hillary. She nodded, picking up a jar.

"For the good guys, we sure have a lot of money out of nowhere," she said. I laughed, and suddenly the door opened. Rodrig walked in with a woman.

He cleared his throat. "This is Marissa. She's a - well, she's with us." I sensed awkwardness from him, but the woman - Marissa - just smiled easily.

"Hi," said Hillary, stepping forward. "I'm Hillary."

"Yeah, and I'm Aladria," I offered. "Nice to meet you."

"She'll be working with us," Rodrig said. "But now, go on to sleep." They both started to leave, but Marissa turned back around and stayed with us. Rodrig looked confused as she closed the door.

"Hi, girls," she said, turning around. "I'm Marissa." She'd already been introduced, but she was probably just trying to be friendly.

"Hello, Marissa," I said. I paused, looking around. "By the way, this room is too cool."

"Yeah, so what have you girls figured out about this room so far? 'Cause really, there are a lot of cool things here," she told us.

"Um. There's a tap for water... a bed that you can fill with water..." I turned around, trying to observe everything at once, which was impossible.

"Yes, but you have to notice the details," Marissa said smoothly, and pushed something at the bottom of the tap for water. A screen popped up. "See... what do you want? Water, lemonade, pink lemonade, coffee - decaf... whatever comes to mind, type it in, and it'll serve it. Cool, huh?"

"Yes," I breathed. "Totally. I love it!"

"Okay, girls. Do you have any other questions?" she asked.

I looked around for a moment. Everything here was perfect - perfect beds, perfect materials, perfect service... but I didn't like it somehow.

"I have one," I said, turning to Marissa. "If we can do all this stuff, why don't we give it to the public? I mean, kids are starving all over the world, and we're here with stuff a five-star hotel would be jealous of."
"We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?"

Marissa
"Oh. The government just gave us this stuff. We need it. I mean, if we're gonna save the world, of course we need it! Don't worry, we'll be SAVING the world." I say. I smile, and close the door.
I walk to my room, and close the door to get some rest.

My apologies for the late post.

Hillary Betten

The girls had turned in soon after Marissa made her leave. Not many minutes passed as they doused off to sleep when the wide-screen TV switched on. The sudden flash of light made Hillary jump a little. She blocked her eyes from where she lay underneath her bedcovers.

What the.... She thought in a burst of bewilderment and annoyance.

She squinted against the glaring light, barely able to make out the words on a flashy backdrop. Slowly, she read, “Now, girls, its’ time to rest."

Like we’re jumping around sharing mushy stories about our crushes! She thought sarcastically, her face distorting a look of disgust. Although, she wasn't about to finish that thought as her eyes continued reading:

"Tomorrow we will try our best to save the world (and the poor) for tomorrow great things are in store."

At this assurance, the little flame of impatient energy within her was watered down and her sluggish mind calmed easily.

Oh. Right. She rolled over, pulling the covers over her head. We’re saving the world tomorro....

And, she drifted off into a deep sleep. Dead to the world.

Well, I understand sometimes you have to have someone else's character do something (or else conversations would be impossible), and I don't mind that, but I feel like you're writing all my character's reactions before I get the chance to. Again, I wouldn't mind that so much, but usually people try to base that off of what they know that character is thinking. I didn't write anything about her thinking, "this is so cool, I love this", but you made it up.

I feel like you're trying to portray her as excited, pleased, etc. - when I might have had different things in mind. (I was planning on her being uncomfortable with everything being so nice, but that's hard to do when you have my character bouncing off the walls with excitement about it.) I kind of feel controlled, and although I'm not really angry, but I don't like it. Does this make sense, or am I just being confusing?

Like I said previously, this could just be me, but it's making me feel like you're controlling my character more than I am, which limits the point of a storybook.

Aladria

"Oh," Marissa said. "The government gave us this stuff. We need it. I mean, if we're gonna save the world, of course we need it! Don't worry, we'll be saving the world." She smiled and closed the door before I could read her emotions. I couldn't tell if she honestly believed that or not.

I knew it was meant to comfort me, but I wasn't convinced. Did we really need all this? Were we going to use waterbeds to save the planet? And even if the government had given it to us... why hadn't the government given it to others? It didn't seem fair.

Hillary was already getting to sleep - she didn't seem bothered by it. Maybe I'm overthinking this, I thought. I mean... agh, I don't know! I decided to just try getting some sleep.

Just as I settled in, though, the TV flashed on. I blinked at the light that suddenly flooded the room.

Now, girls, it's time to rest. Of course it was. It was night. Tomorrow we will try our best... How good was that? ...To save the world (and the poor)... I didn't like thinking about the poor - not with all this comfort around me, while I knew they were out starving. ...for tomorrow great things are in store. After I finished reading, it flashed off, and I couldn't see anything in the sudden darkness.

Professor Rodrig
I walk to the room where both girls are. They seem to not like their room, and after all the tiring work I've done for them, I feel awful. I'll show them! I put on a fake smile.
"Good morning girls!" I call, expecting them to be in bed. To my surprise, they are dressed, with hair done.
"As I see you're ready....." I say.
"Good morning." says Aladria sullenly.
"Marissa told me you two aren't satisfied with what I've provided here. I will change that." I say. As I walk out, they follow me. I take them to a dark room lit with candles. I place normal bowls in front of them, and small plastic cups. I pour some room temperature milk into their cups, and some cornflakes into their bowls. They look unimpressed. To top it off, I walk out of the room, saying, "Eat up." That's gonna show them they should appreciate what they have!

Hillary stood in the center of the walk-in closet. She put a finger to her chin with the other hand on her hip, staring thoughtfully into a tall rake of clothes in the wall. She tapped the touchpad next to it. A screen of a clothing catalog popped up, and Hillary leafed through its selection until she came to a white long-sleeve shirt and a pair of black jeans. They fit her her shape flatteringly, not too tight and not too loose. In a whirl, she finished dressing and moved on to another wall with shelves of shoes. Tapping the touchpad beside it, the screen lit up, activating a robotic monotone that voiced, “To scroll, press ‘down’ or ‘up’.”

Hillary pressed ‘down’ and the shelves began to rotate downward. The scroll of styles varying from heals to flats seemed endless and grew to an overwhelming point for Hillary. She was never one to obsess over shoes, but this was just too much. She snatched up a pair of running shoes and ran from the room.

Outside, Hillary was faced with another puzzling dilemma. Aladria was nowhere in sight and their beds were made in pristine condition.

Okay.... Hillary thought. Clearly, this place comes with built-in maid service....that's not creepy at all.

She knew she had no reason to suspect danger under the protection of the Professor. Even still, her mind instinctively went on guard.

The mere thought of any more exploring exhausted her. She decided she would wait for Aladria to go in search of the Professor. So, she grabbed a pink lemonade from the water tap, flopped onto her bed, and clicked the TV on.

It wasn't very long before Aladria emerged from the bathroom. The two shared a warm smile and Aladria went about her business.

Hillary turned her attention back to the Lifetime movie she was watching when several minutes passed; she was so engrossed she lost track of time and barely noticed when the Professor burst into the room.

"Good morning, girls!" He sang out with a cheesy grin on his face. His smile faltered, as if he were expecting a different setting than what he saw. "Ah, I see you're ready...."

"Good morning." said Aladria, startling Hillary. Last she'd seen Aladria, she was in her night clothes. She must not have noticed what Aladria was doing about the room because she, too, was dressed and ready.

The professor didn't waste any time. "Marissa told me you two aren't satisfied with what I've provided here." He looked from Aladria to Hillary. "I will change that."

He turned and strode out the door. Hillary, assuming his leaving the door open meant for them to follow, got up from the bed. She and Aladria exchanged glances as they fell into step with him.

It seemed they passed several closed doors before he came one of them and entered. Passing through, Hillary touched the frame of the door, absentmindedly keeping her hand up as she moved inside. In the candlelight, she watched the Professor prepare sets of bowels with dry cornflakes and fill two plastic cups with milk on an old card table. Hillary only stared at the sad, little scene in confusion.

the Professor walked past her out the room, speaking only the words, "Eat up."

Hillary spun around just as he was closing the door and yelled, "Wha?!"

He stopped the door halfway and looked at her.

"What are you getting at?" Hillary asked. "You give us a suite, more luxurious then the Buckingham Palace, and then you spring us with this? Just because we aren’t throwing ourselves at your feet with praise and gratitude, we aren’t satisfied?”

She couldn’t wrap her head around him, whatsoever. In the beginning, she wasn’t vexed by the unknown elements of his introducing a world of technology she never knew of before. He was the team leader. He was the one who held the reigns, always a step ahead of them. But this simply didn't add up and it upset her that he kept them in the dark about it even after causing such a conversion.

At that moment, she began to question his motives and wondered if she could truly trust him after all.

“What does it matter where we live, anyway?” She went on. Her voice had rose and echoed in the small space. “We’re supposed to be saving the world, Rodrig! Or do you expect us to fight with scented bars of soap?!"

It's alright, don't worry! :) I didn't think you were doing it on purpose, so I just thought I'd clarify.
Aladria

I awoke slowly, taking a moment to remember where I was. Right. The five-star spy cave. I sat up, stretching, and rose. I went into the bathroom, washing my face, and ended up just looking in the mirror for a while. Sleeping on it hadn't helped - I still felt guilty, using all this stuff. Come on, now, it's not like it's your fault, I told myself, trying to cheer up. I wonder what's going on at my old adopted home. They were probably already up.

Hillary was back when I returned, watching a movie, and the beds had been made perfectly. Had she made them? No, I could tell Hillary was creeped out. Our beds had been made by someone else.

I felt my head spin as my questions from the night before ran through my head. I knew I was making too big a deal about it. I knew I was supposed to be grateful for all this stuff, but it still felt over-the top, and selfish somehow. Now I also felt selfish for making such a big deal about this in my head. Great, I just couldn't be satisfied, could I?

Rodrig came in. "Good morning, girls!" he said with a cheerfulness I could tell was fake. I could sense he felt unhappy. "I see you're ready..."

"Good morning," I said, feeling really guilty now. Why had I said anything? I'd probably hurt his feelings.

"Marissa told me you two aren't satisfied with what I've provided here. I will change that," he announced. We followed him out of the room and down the hall, where there was a dark, candlelit room, with normal bowls and plastic cups. I realized they were full of corn flakes; he poured milk that didn't look very cold into them. I stared. What the heck was he doing?

"Eat up," Rodrig said, leaving. I couldn't help but smile a little - he was trying to make up for it. Maybe that was a little much, but at least I realized I had the wrong impression of him.

Hillary whirled around, angry and confused. "Wha-" she cried, and Rodrig stopped. I didn't need my talent with emotions to sense a storm rising. Oh, no. This is my fault. "What are you getting at? You give us a suite, more luxurious than the Buckingham Palace, and then you spring us with this? Just because we aren’t throwing ourselves at your feet with praise and gratitude, we aren’t satisfied? What does it matter where we live, anyway?" she yelled. "We're supposed to be saving the world, Rodrig! Or do you expect us to fight with scented bars of soap?!"

There was a brief moment of silence, and then I walked forward. "I'm sorry," I said. They both looked at me, a little confused. "I was the one who was complaining about all this last night." I turned to Rodrig. "Rodrig, I do appreciate all this. I do - it's just that I don't understand why we aren't sharing it with anyone else." I smiled at him.
"We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?"

"Well, it doesn't matter now whether you're sorry or not. It's too late for apologies." I say, and close the door, locking it behind me. I walk away, and start up some stairs. Marissa bumps into me, looking concerned.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"The girls-they're not in their room!" She says. I nod, and explain everything. She nods, and walks away.

Okay, this is a flashback.

I remember the day when my old master, Professor Samil, actually known as Eric, taught me everything he knew. Trickery, malice, cruelty. He taught me how to deceive people, without them knowing.... but that was past.....
I have turned from that, or, better said, I had turned from that. But with the sadness that I'm not good enough, and that I'm selfish and mean to the poor, is overcoming. I go to my office, where I sit in my ultra-comfy chair.

I'm not good enough for them... I think, a tear welling up in my eyes. I wipe it away as Marissa walks in.
"Hey, are you okay?" she asks.
"I'm going back to my--- master." I say. She had been an apprentice to Samil too, and we had run away together to help the good. We had deceived our master. I hate myself for that. But now, I'm returning, with the good news that the girls are caught, and we can-- 'exterminate them'.
"Did you hear me?" says Marissa, shaking me.
"Oh, what?" I say.
"I'll wait here and guard the girls, while you go find him. We can-" she says.
"Exterminate them." we both say in unison. I smile. She's with me alright.
"Sure. You stay here. I think I know where master is." I say. She smiles. I trust her, I think.
"Can I stay in your office here? How do you know that the girls are--- secure?"
"Trust me, I put the super lock with a long password that no one knows. Also, granades, laser, guns.... nothing works. It's solid rock. And, it's air tight. So in---" I say, looking at my watch. "--in lets say, 1-2 hours their air will run out! That'll exterminate them!" I say, laughing. She laughs heartily, and smiles.
"Go on. How long will you be?" She says.
"A few hours... like, 5 I think." I say. She smiles. I walk out, and pack a bag of stuff, then, walk to the girl's door. I make sure every possible lock is on, then leave.

I smile and laugh full heartedly. He leaves. I go to the door, and lock it. I lock every door. I change all the passwords, to ones he doesn't know. I go to the door of the girls.
"Girls, can you hear me?" I yell.
"Yeah. We can. What's going on? It's getting hot in here. We can't barely breathe." Someone says, but I can't figure out who.
"I can't get you out!" I yell back.
"What about Rodrig?"
"He-- left! For the bad twinsters! He's deceived you!" I yell back. I hear somebody sit down hard.
"But-- it's okay. I'll try to help, do you girls have ideas?" I say, helplessly.
