A smirk crawled across her face. “Music to my eyes.” She said. “I was getting a little worried I was going to have to drink out of blood bags for a while.”

I hopped up on the bar and poured her third shot. “You are going to get so drunk.” Shaun spat.

“Shut up Shaun. I did not ask your permission.” Johanna checked the time on her watch. It read two in the morning. “Well I better go get my stuff out of my car before I forget.” She say managing to get up. She took of her heels and laid them on the ground. “Now I just got to find my car. While I am gone, no one drink this guy. He is mine.” She said drunkenly. She found the door and opened it. She clicked the alarm to her car and it sounded. The noise was deafening. She went towards the flashing lights and got her two bags, plus a book bag, and headed back inside.

She dropped her book bag and headed up stairs to the desk. “I need a room.” She said.

The woman handed her a key with the number one on it. She quickly dropped her stuff of and went back to the bar. She opened her book bag and it was filled with blood bags. “Really, Johanna?” Shaun said.

“I did not remember if humans would come here.” She said putting them in a refrigerator.

“You came here enough.” he said.

“Did I ever leave sober? No. You think I remember anything?” Johanna said opening one up.

“Drink up.” She said pouring it into Shaun's empty glass. “You can have this now that I have another solution.” She said eying the guy. “What's you name?”

“Harper.” She said.

“Johanna.” She introduced.

Harper

Tapping the counter, I asked the man behind it in a low voice, "Could a get a room key by any chance?"

He narrowed his eyes at me, and pulled out a key with a big number 2 on it.

"Looks like I'm next to you, Johanna." He muttered, pulling at the collar of his shirt -- more out of habit than anything. Sort of.

Standing up, he shoved the key into his pocket and headed outside to his beat up truck. Pulling his bag from the truck and lifting over his shoulder, Harper headed back inside.

This could be fun.

I stroll into the bar, squinting in the dim light.

I scoffed. "Great, vampires," I sigh, as I walk to the bar.

"You got a problem with that?" One of them asks hatefully.

"Why? Will you leave if I say yes?" I mocked. "I'd be more than happy to."

He growled, his face flushing red.

I rolled my eyes. "Vodka, straight," I ordered the barkeeper, who seemed slightly stunned. "Now...quit gawking, long tooth."

“Great.” She said to Harper. “If I am ever in the need for a snack, I can just knock on your door.” She smirked.

Being as drunk as she is, Johanna missed the wizard enter. Eyes glared at her as she sat down and ordered. The bartender clearly took offense to whatever she said. “ Vodka.. Straight. Now quit gawking long tooth.” She ordered.” Apparently she had been talking to Johanna, who just stared blankly. “What are you looking at?” The Wizard asks.

“You what do you think I am looking at? Oh and I do not server you. I am not the bartender.” Johanna spat back. She says something, but Johanna blocks her out. “You are annoying me and I do not want to kill you, so I am going to go to sleep.” She said. “Someone might want to close the blinds before the sunrises unless you want to burn to death.” Johanna grabbed her shoes and walked up the stairs. She unlocked the door to her room and went inside. She closed the blinds and managed to change into her pajamas. She plopped onto the bed and passed out.

"What do you think I'm looking at? Oh, and I don't serve you. I'm not the bartender," the girl behind the bar snarled.

"Then don't stand behind the bar="

"You're annoying me, and I don't want to kill you, so I'm going to sleep. Someone might want to close the blinds before the sun rises, unless you want to burn to death," she stomped up the stairs, and slammed a door behind her.

"Oh, I'm scared," I muttered, as I leapt across the bar. "I wouldn't want her to kill me either."

"Where'd she go?" Another vampire asked, as he strode into the bar, a bag thrown over his shoulder.

"Who?"

"The girl who was back there."

"Oh, she threatened to kill me, then went and hid in her room."

"What did you do?" the guy asked, his eyes filling with rage.

I narrowed my eyes at him, then turned and grabbed the bottle of Vodka myself- making it obvious that he didn't intimidate me.

"I am pouring myself a shot."

"You had better watch what you're doing," he hissed, nearing the bar. "I'll kill you if you mess with Johanna."

I whirled around on him, throwing my long hair out of my face, my eyes glinting with anger. "You think you can kill me? Bah! You and your little girlfriend combined couldn't kill me!"

His fangs dropped out of his mouth- a sensation that, even after all the years I had spent making fun of vampires, still creeped me out- and leaned over the bar. "What makes you so confident."

I flipped my black hair over my left shoulder, letting him see my neck, just below the ear. My crest- my brand- given to me the day I graduated from the Wizards' Vampire Hunting Academy.

He hissed and retreated a few steps. "A wizard," he spat. "A wizard in a vampire's domain."

I shrugged. "Yep, it seems so."

He continued to back, keeping his eyes on me, hissing and spitting in disgust. "What would make a wizard do something like that?"

"I thought I'd just drop in here, and see how everything played out." I smirked. "Might be funny."

"You'd better watch your back," he snarled.

I pulled a small, angular silver stick, no bigger than a pencil, from my pocket, and twirled it in my fingers. "I wouldn't be concerned about me, if I were you."

-Next Morning-

I wake to my head pounding. I hate hangovers. I get up and change into my light black pants and cute purple tank top. I put on the my leather jacket and brush the curls in my hair. I am about to head down stairs, but see a glimpse of light. “The excuse better be everyone was drunk.” I say out loud. I go and knock on Harper's door. He opens the door. I can tell her just woke up not to long ago. “Yeah sorry to bother you, but I need two things.”

“Sure what?” He says.

“Yeah I need you to go down and close all the blinds and then I need some blood.” I say.

A knock at my door is what finally convinces Harper to get out of bed after laying there for about ten minutes.

Sporting bed hair, plaid pants, and a t-shirt he slowly opened the door.

I wasn't shocked to see Johanna, “Yeah sorry to bother you, but I need two things.”

“Sure, what?” He says.

“Yeah I need you to go down and close all the blinds and then I need some blood.” she says.

Running a hand through his dark hair with one hand and rubbing sleep from his eyes with the other, Harper nods and heads down the staircase.

Squinting into the brightly lit room, Harper saw how abandoned it was - not a soul present. Shuffling over to the windows, Harper pulled them shut one by one, ensuring all light was sealed away.

With a yawn, he jogged back up the stairs to find Johanna standing in the same place.

"You can go in." He muttered, heading into his room with Johanna close behind.

Rubbing the cold from his arms, Harper looked down at the decorative bites plastered against his skin. As he prepared himself for another addition, his blood started pumping wildly, eagerly.

Johanna knew it.

Offering an arm to her, Harper said, "Go ahead."

I can hear his heart racing. I can sense his eagerness to be bitter. I smile and my fangs come out. I sink my fangs into his skin, drinking his blood. The glorious taste of it.

After regaining my strength and loosing my headache, I stop drinking. I take my fangs out and wipe my lip. I go behind the bar again, knowing every inch of it. I get out a drink. “Nothing is better that waking up to blood and alcohol.” I say laughing.

-Shaun Keats-

I stayed in bed as long as I could, hoping to get a little more sleep in, but when the sunlight coming through my window started to get in my eyes, I got up and put on some real clothes. I walked out to the bar in search of Johanna, my left leg so stiff that it dragged behind a bit, and sure enough, there she was, getting herself a drink at nine in the morning.

"Really, Johanna?" I said, only half joking. "Do you have any idea how hung over you're going to be tomorrow?"

"Just because you can't handle much alcohol doesn't mean I can't," Johanna retorted, filling her glass to the brim. She took a rather large gulp, and set the bottle of liquor on the bar in front of her--presumably for refills.

“Shaun, haven't you learned that blood is the cure hangovers?” I ask getting a blood bag and pouring it into a glass for him.

I hop up on the bar an put my legs between Shaun and Harper. I swing my legs back and forth. Then it hits me. “You need something to eat.” I say. “Sorry it never occurs to me that humans need to regular food.” I say hopping down again. “Where's that bartender?” I ask Shaun.

“Um I think someone killed him.” He says.
“That's great.” I say.

“You worked here about two hundred years ago, why don't you do it?” He says taking a sip of his blood.

I sigh and walking over to the kitchen. I put an apron on and pull my hair up. I then wash my hands. I pull out everything I need and start cooking.

After about twenty minutes later, everything is ready. I put the eggs, bacon and pancakes onto a plate. I fill a glass of orange juice and give it to him. “I forgot how much I hate working here.” I say. I take another

I roll my eyes at him. “Well technically you love me drinking you blood, it makes you feel good. So in all truth you should be doing more for me.” I say.

“Only you could come to that conclusion.” Shaun said.

“Only I have a mind like me. No one has the intelligence I have.” I say.

“Yes, let's go with that.” Shaun spat.

I glare at him. “Thanks you are so nice.”

Shoving pancakes into his mouth, he muttered, "Johanna, I could get any vampire I please to take my blood."

Swallowing the pancakes, he continued, "You however cannot do so with as much ease. You owe me" he finished with a smirk.

Scoffing, Johanna said, "Yeah right. You almost backed out last night, next time you'd probably run away. Besides, I could get anyone I pleased. You're just more conveniant than hunting and fighting - if you could even call it that."

Harper stared at his plate, his stomach full. Knowing he needed to eat to keep his blood going, he picked up a piece of bacon and started munching.

"But Johanna," he said, remembering, "That's how it all starts."

I scowl at him. “My dear Harper, there is one thing that you need to learn fast.

“Oh lord.” Shaun says.

“Yes Shaun should know this very well.” I say yanking Harper's stool out from under the bar. I slowly walk around him, give him a glare. His body stiffens and it makes me laugh. “I am always right. Even when you think I am wrong, I am right.” I smile and jump up onto the bar and walk across it. “You see, I just gave you the best advice for dealing with women. I am just so helpful today.” I say.

Shaun looks up at me. “You must be sick.”

I roll my eyes and look down at him. “Just drink your blood and shut your face.”
