Autumn's Beginning, Autumn's Breeze [2]

Riley-

"Yeah. And if they don't return by morning we'll just have to go after them."

He nodded slowly, absently, letting his head fall to his hands again. Darkness began to steal through the house and Nathaniel waved his hand at a few of the candles, lighting them instantly.

I let myself doze off for a few minutes at a time, allowing Ariana to lean on me. Bella got up a few times to get a drink for the rest of us or to go check on Natan.

And thus we awaited the arrival of the others.


Davnix-

I shrugged and looked back at Isabella. "What do you think?"

"Have Crest drop one or two of us off at the window. We'll go in and rescue Trent, then return."

I looked around. "So who goes?"

Ariana

I think at some point I fell asleep, because at some other point, I woke up in Isabella's room with Riley next to me.

Val--

I inhaled in my sleep.

Natan was awake, I could smell it.

My eyes shot open and I turned, seeing Natan's eyes widen slightly.

"You're awake!" I cried, practically jumping at him. He chuckled, hugging me back tightly.

**I vote we make a new thread, and try to make it as long as this one. This one is getting annoyingly long, and if we make another AB attatched to this, it will become quite difficult to find character profiles and such**

**We're gonna finish this AB up and once we get to page 70, we'll start a new thread. Agreed?**

Natan-

I chuckled. "So I am."

She grinned at me.

"How long have I been unconscious?" i asked.

"About a day and a half." she answered.

I sighed. "And where is everyone?"

"Some of them went back to the tower to get Trent. He was accidentally left behind when we brought you back here. Ariana, Riley, Nathaniel, Bella, Gerard and Alise are all still here, though."

I nodded, taking particular notice to how weak i was. I tried to lift my arm, succeeded in getting it about halfway up, and dropped it back down.

"Great." i muttered. I tried the other arm and got the same result.

"Don't worry about it. Your strength will come back soon." Val said, burying her face in my chest. I smiled.

"I certainly hope so."


Riley-

I wrapped my arms around Ariana as i felt her shift slightly.

"Good morning." i murmured. "It's still rather early."

Ariana

I grunted softly and he chuckled. "Is anybody back yet?"

"I don't know, we'll check later. You still seem tired."

"You have no idea," I commented, "what about you?"

*Won't be long til we get there. *


Velna-


"I'll go." She offered, she wanted to find Trent and soon. "Of course, if we can get close enough to talk to him then he can come out and fly up to meet us."

"I think that sounds better." Davinx nodded. Crest dove towards the window and hovered .

TRENT! Velna called out in her head.

Velna, where are you! She was relieved to hear her brothers voice.

Outside, let's go, fast, please.

I'm coming! Trent soon came out and flew up to meet them.

Davnix-

I sighed in relief when i saw Trent fly from the tower. The face of an old man appeared behind him on the balcony and a cracked hand waved to us.

"Don't worry," Trent and Isabella said. "That's Kash."

I nodded. "Come on, let's get out of here. I'm hungry."

They laughed and Crest dove into the sky with a roar and we were off.


Riley-

I shrugged. "A little more sleep wouldn't be too bad, i admit."

"Good." she said, yawning. I felt my eyes close...

A loud roar woke me. I sat up and gasped, looking around with my good eye. Ariana, too, was wide-awake and staring at me.

"What was that?" she asked.

"I don't know. C'mon."

We got up and slunk out of the room and opened the front door cautiously just as Nathaniel and Bella emerged from their room.

I stared out the door and my face broke out into a grin. I allowed the door to swing open.

"Gave us all a fright there, you did." i said as the others walked in. I was relieved to see Trent was with them.

Ariana

"Davnix!" I shouted and threw my arms around my brother, "mom and dad are going to kill you."

"I suspect so, they're at home right?"

I nodded.

"Great." He took Vel's hand and led her away.

Davnix-

I sighed and headed directly back to my house, preparing to confront my parents.I knocked on the door and let myself in.

"Davnix!"

I was embraced by muscular arms. I hugged my father back until my mother took his place.

"Where have you been!?"

"Long story," i muttered. I gestured to Velna to come in. She stepped forward slowly. Trent followed her. "And right now I don't really feel like telling it."


Riley-

I hugged Ariana close. "We're all back. No more demons. No more crazed mages."

She smiled. "So it seems, except for that last one."

We laughed. "True, true. We have at least two of those around here. Speaking of two, i wonder how Natan is doing."

Ariana

"He's doing better," Isabelle said. "He's awake."

Ariana grinned, "good." Then a thought dawned on her and she turned up to Riley, "you know what I just realized?"

"What?"

"We left before I became an Avian."

Riley-

I smiled. "Good thing i know how."

"But you said-"

"I know, i know. That was a lie, and I apologize. If you really want to be changed, i can do it. And i did not lie about there being no pain."


Natan-

I started awake at the sound of a dull roar. Val, too, woke.

"Didja hear that?" she mumbled, yawning. I could not help but smile.

"Yes. I think the others are back."

"Let's go find out." she said hopping out of the bed. She bent down, put one arm under my back, and lifted my up, supporting me with one hand while my arm was draped over her neck. She reached over and handed me my staff.

"Thanks."

Ariana

I didn't know why but the thought of becoming an avian excited me beyond belief. Maybe because I would become his equal. I would have no reason to love him other than just because.

"Do you want it?"

"More than anything!" I exclaimed and threw my arms around his neck.

Riley-

I smiled. "You're sure?"

She punched me lightly on the shoulder. I laughed and drew a single feather from my own wing, pressing it on the center of her back. I murmured a small string of words.

"I didn't know you knew magic." she murmured into my ear.

"I don't. That's my native tongue."

"Which is...?"

"Elvish." i shrugged.

"You were an elf before you became an avian!?" she exclaimed, drawing back once i was done.

I nodded and smiled. "Yes"

Ariana

I gasped, "that is...no wonder you're so handsome."

He chuckled and kissed me. "Ready to fly?"

I looked over my shoulder and saw wings, my eyes went wide. "Wow," I breathed and flexed them, moved them in and out, experimented with how I could move them.

"Ready to try?"

I kissed him and nodded, "always."

Riley-

I launched into the sky, twisting around to stare back at Ariana while hanging upside down in the air. She grinned and lifted a few inches into the air, testing her wings. When she discovered they worked for her will, she shot after me. I moved a few inches to the side and she flew past, laughing. I turned and laughed as well, doing flips and turns elegantly.

"Show-off!"

I grinned and did a back-flip, launching about fifty feet higher at the end, grinning down at Ariana.

"Feels good, doesn't it, love?"
