She would follow Margret's motions, crawling out from behind the tent, with panic-struck eyes, her heart beat racing wildly from within her chest, an unavoidable fear of it bursting free from behind her rib cage and running away from her in fear. She stepped to the side, leaving herself half-behind Margret, but half in the open so she would look somewhat in control.

Michel wasn't liking this situation anymore. One person had a knife to their throats, and the crazed lady holding it seemed to be the leader of a duo, the second woman peeking from behind her, but still looking crazed. As the knife slowly began to lower away from the neck, Michel said, "I don't know who these guys are, but I saved the fire. It looks like you guys got marooned here too, so I guess we're all stuck together. Anyone want to kill anyone? Cause that would just be a great way to start the morning; a murder."

Michel glared around the ring of people, glaring deep into each person's eyes before moving on. He grabbed one of the larger branches and stormed off. It wouldn't be any good to hurt anyone now, not when he didn't know what side he wanted to be on.

Kara
Before I can even answer, I hear a scuffling sound coming from inside the makeshift tent and somebody whispers “who’s there?’ in a voice that sounds as scared as I feel. Then a woman with worn clothing and a focused expression in her eyes steps out from the tent with a knife held out in front of her. I feel my eyes widen and the guy who confronted us earlier looks warily from her to me and then back to her.
Josh squeaks from behind me and another girl (who looks around my age.) steps out of the tent behind the first. “I...” I try, but it comes out a whisper and I feel like kicking myself. ‘Get a grip Kara,’ a voice in my head tells me and I try again.
“I... My name’s Kara,’ I say and take a tentative step forward. The woman raises the knife towards me, a grim expression covers her face and somebody gulps behind me. The woman focuses on him and a few seconds later raises her knife. I exhale and suddenly realise that I’d been holding my breath. I force myself not to turn around.
Then the guy who had been sitting beside the fire began talking.
I don't know who these guys are, but I saved the fire. It looks like you guys got marooned here too, so I guess we're all stuck together. Anyone want to kill anyone? Cause that would just be a great way to start the morning; a murder."
He glares at us all each in turn, grabs a large branch from the ground and storms off. I nod vaguely.
He has a point then I turn back to the crowd not knowing what to say.
If we were all stranded here on this island then maybe it was best we stayed together...
"Wait!" I called after him and don't know if he even hears before turning back to the group.

I lowered the knife from the person’s throat and stepped back, warily. “Pardon my welcome. But you surely gave me a nasty scare. Ayway, I was just testing my reflexes.” Someone snorted in the background, surpressing a laugh. I eyed them all with the greatest care trying to find the one who laughed. “Who are all of you? I am Miss Margret Tanner, a librarian from New York.” I stared expectantly at the small group standing around the smouldering coals. One person hesitantly gulped then stepped forward, as if to speak.

“Pardon my welcome. But you surely gave me a nasty scare. Anyway I was just testing my reflexes.” The woman says to us and someone- I think it was Josh- laughs and the woman stares at us all carefully.
“Who are all of you? I am Miss Margret Tanner, a librarian from New York.”
Nobody else moves to speak, so I gulp and step forward, aware that they are staring at me.
“I... My name is Kara. Kara North. I’m not really from anywhere in particular,” I get a few strange glances at this, so I hurry on speaking, “My parents are both travel agents, so we move around a lot,” I explain, “I don’t think I have ever stayed in one place for more than 3 months after I was three,” I think for a second wondering what else to tell these people. How I got here I suppose... “We were on this boat- I don’t think you could really call it a ship- when It had engine problems, or at least that’s what one of the sailors said- so we all jumped in a life boat.”
“What happened to everyone else?” someone asks and I nod trying to think.
“I..., I got swept out of the life boat maybe half an hour later and then somehow, I don’t know how, I ended up here, “
I take a breath and step back, letting someone else speak for a change and trying not to think about what happened to my parents.

Josh Newman ~

I stepped out from behind Kara my head down, I didn't want to see no one fear was still controlling me. "I'm Josh Newman I live all around the world" I knew I was lying but only a little, these peasants didn't need too know about my life. "I was traveling by my private jet when it crashed" My stomach growled, I had never been that hungry all my life. Still I felt more sleepy than hungry, my legs were so tired so I sat down.

Josh steps out from behind me and introduces himself, not looking at anyone as he does but once when he glances up I see far in his eyes.
"I'm Josh Newman I live all around the world,” he tells up sounding just a little bit like he is bragging the fact, “I was travelling on my private jet when it crashed,” he says matter of fact tone before taking a step back and sitting down, stomach growling and I feel a tinge of pity for him before my own hunger hits in and I wonder if we will find food on this island.
Times like these I wish I was home even though I never really had one and a funny thought hits me.
All those times I complained about how my classes sometimes went hours after normal school would have or how unfair it was I never got to live a normal life If only I had known about this then I never would have cared.
I miss it all. Then I smile thinking about how many other people in the universe have wished for a time machine sometime in their lives.
Unfortunately I only wanted to be a doctor and not an inventor.
My thoughts shatter when someone else starts talking.

I stepped out from behind Margret, sighing as I begin to speak. "My name is Veronica. Veronica Watskin, to be exact. I was born and raised in Westchester County, New York, where I live as an only child with my mother, and whatever father is currently married to mommy."
She pulled her long blonde hair over her shoulders, running her nails through it as she averted her eyes to a North Eastern direction, thinking of what Kara had said.
" I got on the island after I was on a ship, in which was supposed to make to a beautiful island, as my parents were on a honeymoon in Paris, so they figured they'd send me away too. Sadly, the ship was suffering difficulties, so they had us taken into lifeboats. I had demanded my own, but they said I was not allowed, so they put some annoying guy with acne and glasses, who kept trying to tell me how if he was going to die, he wanted to kiss me first. Eventually, I fell asleep as he rowed. When I woke up, he was no longer on the boat.. I presume he fell off. Anyway, I woke up and the boat was a bit off shore, so I climbed onto this islands, spotted Margret and well.. Here I am."
As she finished speaking, she felt like she was in a AA or OA group, or something to that extent. She sighed heavily, waiting for the next person to speak up.

Several people gave some introductions. “Well it’s nice to meet you all.” Inside I was really saying, Oh rats, more mouths equals more food gone which will lead to death by starvation. “I’m sure we’ll all get along nicely.” I was calculating how long the rice would last if we each had two servings a day. It was pretty grim. “Well, we’re going to have to build a bigger shelter tomorrow. As well, we will have to scout out the island, and try to find food and water. Perhaps we won’t even need to do this. Maybe a rescue party would come by then.”
I turned around and began to walk back towards the small tent. There was only room for three people inside. Veronica piped up and said, “The three youngest should have the tent tonight, the rest of us should sleep by the fire.”
“I agree,” stated Kara.

My eyes had followed Margret's as she approached the small, makeshift tent. I realized that only three people would be able to fit comfortably inside. Gesturing to the tent, I said "The three youngest should have the tent tonight, the rest of us should sleep by the fire."
I half wished I hadn't spoken, since Margret and I were the ones who had made the tent, but I knew it was the right thing to do. Those of us that were older could bare a night by the fire. The younger children's immune systems wouldn't handle it as well as we could.

The other girl- Veronica- steps forward to introduce herself and then Margaret starts talking again.
“Well it’s nice to meet you all,” she proclaims, not actually looking all that happy to meet us, “I’m sure we’ll all get along nicely.”
I glance around our tiny circle, judging everybody’s reactions.
Margaret begins talking again, “Well, we’re going to have to build a bigger shelter tomorrow. As well, we will have to scout out the island, and try to find food and water. Perhaps we won’t even need to do this. Maybe a rescue party would come by then.”
At that moment everybody turns to stare at the small tent and I try to imagine us all squeezing in there.
It doesn’t really work out, I try calculating the room in the tent.
There’s room for two people in there- maybe three- if we are lucky.
Veronica is the first one to say something, “The three youngest should have the tent tonight, the rest of us should sleep by the fire.”
“I agree,” I step forward to say and then glance at the fire- which by now is stuttering and beginning to fade.
Quickly, I sit, piling more wood into the pile, making sure that our only source of warmth and light does not go out.
One its stable I look up at the others.
“Well,” I say to them, “Since there is only four of us here at the moment and we really don’t want this fire to go out maybe we could… I don’t know take turns watching it?”
I look over to Josh, who looks really tired and pale and say, “Well us three anyway, so at least we all get a decent amount of sleep.”

Veronica nods and staring into the fire I feel obliged to volunteer for the first ‘shift.’

Richard Puller

Having filled his belly with some bananas and mangos (but avoiding the fruit he didn't recognise, just in case), Richard washed the juices off his hands and face in the lagoon and looked for somewhere to sleep. After only a few minutes of searching, he found an easily accessible tree with a rather comfy looking fork in it. Gingerly climbing up - his knees protesting at the effort - he padded the fork with some leaves and settled down.
Rather like being on holiday, he thought as night fell around him.
I hae but ane gallant son, and if he were to follow me in my footsteps, how proud I shall be.

I got to my feet and went into the tent. I couldn't find a good position with everyone there around me. I felt cold, frustrated and scared. Even though I was tired sleep did not come to me easily. I could feel someone coming into the tent, I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep. Someone sort of heaved me and put me right in the middle and then laid down on my left side.

I hate when people touch me but I was suppose to be asleep. It started to get a little bit warmer. Sleep was coming to me at last.

Amaya

How long have I been out of it? My head is spinning and I can't seem to get a grip on reality. Everything is spinning around me as I stand up. My dress is torn and my arms and legs are bleeding. What happened? Then I remembered my attempt to find water and how I slipped and fell down a rock face. I take a couple steps then see something on the sand in front of me. A scorpion is dancing back and forth on the sand with it's tail poised for attack. I can handle this, I think. I slowly crouch down and grab a stick. Then I run screaming at it and knock it on it's head. This infuriates it and it lashes out. The stinger lands in the right side of my leg and I cry out. I topple over clutching my leg and screaming. I writhe on the ground until I feel numb all over. My vision blurs and I black out. I see nothing, feel nothing, no nothing, more.

btw she just died :)
