Cassie Brown

"No, it doesn't hurt at all."

I take the cloth and press it to my nose, which is nothing but a minor annoyance compared to the embarrassment. I can hear Ivan somewhere laughing loudly. That gorgeous jerk... Micah offers me help again but I nearly lose my head. Don't step so close to me. Gah. I'm hopeless.

"I'm fine. I'm a klutz. Really stupid, I am, I swear. Just... just.. ignore me."

I try to run off and hide in a deep dark depressing pit but Drake stops me and asks if he can join up. Isn't he on Ivan's kill list? Aww, why is he on his kill list. He doesn't look death worthy.

"You'll have to ask Ivan," I say kindly. The blood pour has settled itself down now, but my nose is still throbbing.

"Blonde-" Ivan's voice cuts through my pain and I turn towards him, watching as he approaches.

"It's Cassie."

"Whatever. Did you just run into a wall?"

"Kinda..."

"How?"

"Umm... I daydream a lot."

He laughs loudly which really doesn't anger me as much as it probably should, it doesn't even matter because the laughing stops once he notices Drake.

"He wants to... join up," I quickly add.

Rutila "The Black Dagger" Rida

I cringed as she pulled my arm behind my back, her grip tight on my arm my knees to the ground. I was thankful for my mask to keep me from showing no signs of pain.

"I see you picked up a trick from me, but I'm filled with tricks of my own." I said showing no sign of pain in my voice.

With my free arm I elbowed her knee hard. I heard her give a barely audioble "ow." her grip loosened and I pulled my arm free and then grabbed her by her shirt and pulled her over me, her landing on her back. I hammered at her continuely punching at her face my fists slamming hard into her.

Drake-
Ivan starts laughing, so I punch him, angered that he thinks this is funny when it's obvious Cassie's mortified. I run off before he can hit me back and ask Cassie if I can join her alliance.
"You'll have to ask Ivan," she says, her voice like silk. Maybe I shouldn't have punched Ivan. Ivan comes up, still laughing, trying to act like he didn't just get punched, but I can see the red mark on his cheek and his eyes are tearing up a bit. I clench my fists, and his laughter falters.
"He wants to join up," Cassie explain. I smirk, knowing I've probably ruined my chances of that. He'll try to kill me off before I can say 'boo!'

Jesse

She started punching me over and over and it was truly painfull. I decided to
Fight back and punched her harder then she's ever punched me. She
Flew off me, stumbling backwards. I wiped my mouth and stood up. I ran towards her and kneed her. While she was bending down I uppercut her, forcing her to flip backwards. She runs for me and I dodge out of the way, as she runs into the wall.

Ivan Kirill~

Ivan was beginning to question whether Cassie was worth the time and trouble or not. She was loyal, that was a perk, but this intelligence she claimed to possess was not showing itself at the moment. He figured it was probably just taking a break. He'd cut her a little slack, but only because she was bleeding. The only problem was this Drake person that she brought to him. Ivan's first instinct was to pummel the kid into the ground, so he did. It was just a quick punch to the cheek, nothing too severe. Drake stumbled and got back up, looking ready for a brawl, but Ivan just held up a hand. The kid had guts, he respected that.

"You want to join Cassie and I?"

"It's Cassie and me," the blonde corrected smoothly. It took her a minute to realize Ivan's glare meant she should shut up.

"Yeah," Drake shrugged, still looking nervous. It was all he said.

Ivan looked the boy up and down. What good would he be? Maybe he was strong, a good fighter, or something. He was brave for sure, but that punch wasn't too hot. He could be of some use, maybe. Probably more than Cassie was turning out to be.

For a moment Ivan bathed in the glory of being the one that made the final decision. Power always made him happy. He could say 'No' and there was nothing Drake could do about it, but he saw use in the other boy.

"Sure, fine, whatever. Just don't piss me off. Punch me again and I just might kill you."

Micah

This is a team?

Jesse and Rutila are beyond training. They're killing each other. I make a mental note to not accept the help to train and try and separate the two.

"How about a break?" I suggest, flashing a smile.

"Thanks." I said brushing off myself off from the dirt.

It had been a long time since I had an intense fight, I promised myself to leave Jesse last if it came down to me and her. But for now the gates began to open it was near time to get these games underway.

Drake-
After punching me, Ivan accepts to my surprise, adding a threat at the end that i don't really pay attention to. I roll my eyes, not intimidated, then see a girl-fight beginning. More of a girl-pound than a girl-fight. I see Mask-Girl's knife slide from her arm band while she's punching the other girl. When the other boy moves to break them apart, she doesn't notice it lying on the ground, so I slip over and grab it, then slide back to Ivan and Cassie
"For you, Cassie," not wanting to deal with Mask-Girl's fury again. Cassie declines, so I hand it to Ivan. He might be my ally, but I'm still going to enjoy it when Mask-Girl kicks his rump.

Octavius-

There were some Elite. The only one worthy of myself was Ivan but he was a bigot. Besides, I allied myself with Micah. He wasn't Elite but I could do with a litte power over people. It could be helpful.

I tightened the sword at my waist, seeing as how that Drake had stolen a dagger twice and from the girl that competed last time.

I check my sleeve again, and again my dagger is missing I look back in the area of where me and Jesse fought and saw no signs of it.

"Great." I thought.

No dagger going into this and doubt hand to hand combat will hold me against any monsters in there, I needed to figure out who had my dagger and fast. I adjusted my mask slightly and walked over near Jesse and Micah waiting for the gates to open.

I nodded at both of them. "Good luck," I smile as the gates open. I take a deep breath and am the second to walk out into the stadium after Rutila.

How disgusting! I think almost everyone had formed allies with someone. What was the point if your going to turn on each other. I felt sorry for that Cassie person.Ivan seemed like he would turn on that little bread maker...but maybe little bread maker was up to something.

I slipped away from that lot and went and sat in the shadows, assessing everyone.what were those two fighting for? We weren't suppose to be trainig here were we?
Where did. That ronaldo guy go? I thought we were here to introduce ourselves.

I wasn't going to make freindship here but that wasn't an issue. I never had a real freind before. I was one time called "the lone wolf" it hurt. But the trick was to cast all your emotions away. That's why many call me ice.no one new my real name and they never will.
Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? (29:2)

After getting all of their names, I turn to the camera and flash my perfect teeth.

"And here you are. This year's Gladiators. Who do you think will win?"

Once I get the all clear, I lose the smile and hand back the microphone, shooing away the camera crew. I turn to the contestants and nod for Sasha to go on ahead. One of the buff looking guys walks near the gate, ushering the camera crew away before looking at me for orders.

"Contestants," I tell the brats, "this is Gary. He'll see to it that you're taking to the Stadium floor. I'm afraid we must part."

I walk back up the marble staircase into the studio room, overlooking the death trap laid out below. Sighing, a smile curls at my lips.

This year is going to be fun.

I pull a microphone closer and clear my throat before clicking it on.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the Stadium!"

A pause. Applause and cheering errupt in the stands.

"First round, like always, is the world famous Wyv Course! First, we have the low crawl, topped by barbed wire and bottomed by the stickiest of mud. Then the tire run. But wait, there's fire pillars on each side, shooting off at any time! Next, the wall scale with hidden doors and disappearing footholds! And lastly, a sprint across to the finishing platform, with more fire pillars and sticky bombs thrown from either side!"

More applause and cheering. I glance at the gladiators, who are standing near the starting line, and smile even wider.

"Romana, are you ready?"

The countdown begins. At the count of zero, the kiddies below will take off and attempt the course. I have no doubt they'll survive this one. It's just an initiation round. But what lies in store...

I take a deep breath and smile. When the horn blows I run and top speed and slide under the mud. I ise my elbows to drag me through and cut myslef on the wire, "Shit." I mumble and keep going. When I get out I look behind me, Callie, already like one obstacle infront of me.

The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices; to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill, and suspicions can destroy. A thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own.
