I don't know exactly how lent works, so I'm not giving up anything. What are you giving up? Hopefully not writing!

But, if I were doing it, I would give up Dr. Pepper.

I gave up personal blogging and posting status updates that don't have to do with work-related things. So, the YWS FB page? That's okay. Moth and Myth updates? That's okay. Personal status updates on YWS? Nope. Personal status updates on Facebook? Nope. Also, I gave up just browsing the internet (for non work-related stuff) after 9pm. So, that's my sacrifice. I haven't been very good at it, I am afraid. O_o

For what I am replacing it with (because the sacrifice should ideally involve something that you give up and something that you should replace it with), TECHNICALLY, I am replacing it with reading things of biblical proportions, although this week has not been very fruitful because I've had tons of things that have just sprung up that I've had to do. I also wanted to spend part of this time in prayer, but I've been sick lately, so that doesn't really help my focusing on things. Bah.

So yeah. I haven't been very successful, but I have a wonderful church that keeps redirecting me, and that's the important part. :)

EDIT:

Also, Lent starts at Ash Wednesday and goes to Easter. Basically, it's a emulation of Christ in the desert for forty days, where He went through trial and temptation. You give up something precious to you to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. With what you give up, you also take up something that strengthens your spiritual life. So, that could be going to daily mass, reading the bible, praying the rosary, adoration, fasting, attending bible study, etc. Basically, anything that helps you grow spiritually in a healthy manner is something that you could do. Anyway, feel free to join in, if you want! :)

I believe I will! Just for fun and personal growth and all! I'm not sure what I want to give up yet though.

I couldn't give up random internet browsing! I wish you the best of luck with that.

I'm going for the fast this year. I tried last year but... something happened >.> now this year I'm totally determined.

However, on Ash Wednesday, I was ill and I couldn't make it to church, but I'm still going for it.

;) nice.

I'm giving up Youtube and Facebook, and going on the internet for anything not school related or having DIRECTLY to do with writing. I'm also doing some spiritual reading every day (or trying to... haven't actually started that one yet. :P)
