Vampires and Slaves (Enter This Realm To Die)

Fidelis

I got on my feet. "Hence why you need me to guide you. My maker never taught me how to hunt or anything. As long as I'm around, you'll know the difference between innocent blood and guilty blood. It's the latter that we must consume to avoid growing mad. For now, the night is dying. We must go home." I led him home and went in bed with him in my arms. "When the dawn rises, we rest. When the dawn sets, we rise with the stars and moon. Rest easy, my newborn apprentice. Now and forever, this bed is ours." I fell asleep after this.

Allan

He leads me back home and lays with me in his arms.

"When the dawn rises, we rest. When the dawn sets, we rise with the stars and moon. Rest easy, my newborn apprentice. Now and forever, this bed is ours." He says, closing his eyes and falling asleep.

I smile for a moment before closing my eyes and resting my head on his shoulder, falling asleep as well.

Fidelis

When I woke up, Allan was still resting. I went to the kitchen at the scent of strong coffee. "Hello, Silver."
She looked at me lazily. "His parents are downstairs. They just got here an hour ago." She tossed me a couple bags of blood. "You'll need 'em. There's more in the fridge for Allan to consume while you're gone."
I blinked. "You knew about what happened?"
Silver nodded. "The Queen told me about it."
I went to Silver's apartment with the bags in my hands. I sucked one of them slowly. "Pardon the bags. I just got out of bed."

Allan

I wake and Fidelis is gone. My hunger is back with a passion, but I can't think of leaving the house or going near another person without him. A heartbeat slowly thumps in my ears and I bury myself under the covers, not trusting myself to get up and face the human in the kitchen.

Fidelis

I sensed something was wrong. "Pardon me a moment." I left the bags on the table and went back to my apartment. I found Allan still in our bed, no doubt unwilling to enter the kitchen with Silver being in there. "I know it's hard to get around mortals without feeding off them." I gently kissed his cheek and listened for Silver's heartbeat to leave. Sure enough, it does. "She's gone now. There are bags of blood in the fridge. I'll be downstairs to have a word with your mortal parents." I returned to Silver's apartment. "I was just making sure what was going around in my residence. Nothing wrong was going on."

Allan

Fidelis returns and kisses me on the cheek.

"I know it's hard to get around mortals without feeding off them." He says, pausing for a moment to listen, "She's gone now. There are bags of blood in the fridge. I'll be downstairs to have a word with your mortal parents."

I watch him leave before cautiously making my way out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. Upon opening the fridge, only the bags of scarlet liquid seemed in any way appealing. I take a bag and bite into it, filling my mouth with the blood.

Fidelis

I sucked from the first bag. "Don't mind the bags. Allan's sleeping in, so I had to use an alternative until he wakes up." I sucked slowly. "Besides, I had an urgent engagement the other night which couldn't wait. Some kind of vampire business as King. It's a little complicated to put into words."

Allan

As I feed, Fidelis' voice rings out in my head, then my parents. I bring my hand up to my head and remember the earpiece. Calming down, I sit at the table after grabbing another few bags and shutting the fridge.

"Don't mind the bags. Allan's sleeping in, so I had to use an alternative until he wakes up. Besides, I had an urgent engagement the other night which couldn't wait. Some kind of vampire business as King. It's a little complicated to put into words." He tells them.

He's feeding in front of them? Not telling them of what happened? Well...Not that I would want them to know the details, but...

I shrug to myself and listen, finishing the first bag and quickly moving onto the next.

"Ah, I see," My father says, "How is he, by the way? Allen, I mean."

Fidelis

I almost flinched at the question. I didn't know how to explain myself or weasel out of it. I set the half-empty bag on the table and decided to confess. "To tell the truth, Allan was attacked the other night. A vampire drank him near dead while I wasn't home. I had to kill the invading vampire before Allan would get killed. After the vampire was killed, I had to change Allan to save him. I didn't want him to die. I just couldn't, so I had to turn him. It was either save him or let him die. If you were in that kind of situation, what would you choose to do?"

Allan

I look down, pausing my feeding, and feel a little guilty for being so vulnerable to allow that to happen to me.

"He's...a vampire now?" My mother asks as my father answers Fidelis' question with a "I wouldn't have known what to do at the time, but I don't believe you were necessarily wrong."

Fidelis

I bowed my head. "Yes. He's now one of my kind, my next generation. Just last night, I began teaching him how to hunt. Just by the law of the Queen, I taught him how to hunt those who do wrong and steer clear of innocent blood. By hunting those who harm others and are guilty, the criminal rate begins to drop steadily." I resumed sucking the blood from the first bag. "That's how you tell the difference between good vampires and bad ones. Innocent blood can drive a vampire to madness. I know so because I have fed off an innocent mortal only once in my eternal lifetime and I was near mad for a week. After that, I vowed never to go down that road again."

Allen

I listen, finishing the second bag and deciding to save the other, and curl up on the chair, setting my chin on my knees.

"That's going to take some getting used to..." My father admits.

Fidelis

I nodded. "At least I told you while you're still alive. When I told my own parents that I became a vampire against my will, they were getting close to their deathbeds. Let's not forget, I hail from Ancient Egypt. I don't have to explain word for word of what we Egyptians do to our dead." I finished the first bag and moved on to the next one. "You can rest assured that I'll teach Allan everything I know about being a vampire. Right now, he knows how to hunt, but there's more he'll learn under my wing. He'll be my apprentice until he's ready to hunt on his own."

Allan

"And what will happen to him afterwards?" I hear my father ask, my own thoughts not even wondering that.

Fidelis would still keep me. He'd said so the night before...or had that just been what I wanted to hear?

Fidelis

I didn't want to leave him on his own for eternity. It was obvious to me that he was deeply attached to me. "I'll still be with him. Until someone had the nerve to drive a stake through my heart, he stays under my roof and learns from me. I could teach him more than just be a hunter. I had him introduced to pottery a few days before he was attacked. I could teach him how to work with pottery. We could travel together and make our fortune out of pottery. I've done it once in my eternal lifetime, I could do it again with Allan at my side."
