Why on Earth is everybody writing poems? I don't like them. This is nothing against the poets out there, but I've noticed that there are three or four times as many poems as stories. Is it just me or is everybody writing poetry now. If so, I am outdated and will have to start writing poems.

Well, I sorta think that people should write whatever they're inspired to write.

That seems fair to me; if you want to be a poet, well - silly - write POETRY!!!!

Here, here! Dream.

As for poetry, I believe it is an acquired taste. Poetry is not necessarily easier to write, but faster for some to write. For me, I write about 6 poems for every fiction or prose piece. But there are people on this site who don't write poetry, or very little of it. I don't see why you should be presured into writing poetry. Write what you want, and work on that.

For sure, it can definitely take a lot less time to write a poem. It's nothing against prose or story-telling. Also, many people believe that it's just easier to get feelings out in poetry form.

It's probably because they're quicker to write, so if someone writes poetry they've got more things to post. I don't think you should start writing poetry just because you feel outdated only writing prose, especially if you don't like poetry. But it's probably worth a shot, you might find you enjoy it.

Thanks for the input.

Firestarter, I don't like to dance.

You all have valid points, and I'll take them into account.

P.S. Reichieru, I thought that you were still mad at me?

Why would I be mad at you? I was never mad, just annoyed momentarily when you responded to me in a way that showed you hadn't read my post properly.

That is the worst logic I have ever heard. Don't write poetry if you don't want to. Especially if you don't like it. People write what they want to. People write whatever inspires them to write. Me, I couldn't write a story if my life depended on it! Obviously, I can't write poetry either, but I do anyway.

Meh, I write the odd poem here and there. When something comes, I write it. Otherwise I was thinking the same thing you were Reas - I suppose some people just like poetry!
