Newbie... and scared.

Hello there. I guess.
Uhh, I'm not really good at introductions. My name's Eve, Volfness, Volfie, Iao, whatever floats your boat. I come from Poland, so even though I speak English pretty well, considering the average level here, there might be some minor mistakes in my writings, especially with phrasal verbs, prepositions and determiners. I'd really appreciate if you pointed those out, 'cause I want to improve in this field.

I've been writing since pre-school, but the real break-out happened somewhere around 9th grade, maybe. I've had some awful experience with too... willingly given criticism in the past and because of that I get easily depressed. Hence, I'd like to ask my fellow writers not to be too harsh on me when commenting on my work. I enjoy getting feedback, but I don't enjoy being chewed out, and unfortunately between those there's a line so thin that it's invisible to the naked eye.

Being pushed away by my peers in the whole course of education, I became terribly asocial, that's why I'm now terrified when I enter any society, like this one. I hope I'll be welcomed here, though... Okay, I'm shutting up now.

You're from Poland? Cool! I live in the UK I hope Poland isn't rainly like here.

I try not to be harsh when I review and I always try to remember to say that I apologise if I do sound harsh. It's important, I think. I don't like having harsh reviews so therefore why should I give them? Most people (if not all) wouldn't mean to be harsh even if they do so don't worry about that.

If you're lost (or posted something in the wrong section) you can contact someone in green who's called a moderator. They're really friendly and will be glad to help. Don't forget the buddy system too - you can join and be mentored I'm a mentor there and I know Blue is too

So, what kind of things do you write? I write novels personally

I'd first like to say welcome to YWS. I know you're going to love it here. The site is a great place to really hone in on your writing skills. So I wouldn't be afraid or hesitant of posting your work up.

We're here to help each other. Most criticism here is kind and helpful criticism. Though every so often you may run into your occasional blunt reviewer, but that's just how they best know how to help out. They never mean to be cruel or to put you down, and I'm sure they'll let you know what needs improving and where your strong points are. So never be discouraged! I can honestly say since joining here I haven't gotten anything less than good help on my writing. So I hope you'll be optimistic about the way some people may review your work. :]

Also no need to be a scared newbie! Really, you'll be making friends in no time. Then you won't be able to tear yourself away from this place. Trust me.

If you ever have any questions, are feeling unsure about something, or would simply like an honest and thorough review on any of your works, you can feel free to ask me. I'd be quite glad to help you out. I review quite kindly, and am willing to answer any and all questions you may have about the site. thank you for reassuring me! I've been welcomed here more warmly than anywhere else. Maybe except for my landlords when I was looking for lodgings, but hey: I pay those people.

Well, it was sunny until the day before yesterday, and then it kinda... deteriorated? XD Now it's awful, and it's the most appropriate and PG adjective I can find. Oh, a storm again! Awesome. Gotta let the dog into the house.

I'm in the middle of trying to write a novel. I've been stuck on the ninth chapter for the last two months, both from laziness and art-block. I hope I'll get motivated here. But generally, the most of my ouevre consists of short stories. I also have several poems.

Hey there Volfie! Aww, I understand what you feel when you get some harsh criticism, but don't worry! Some people whp review like that only try to help the writer out and I've grown to understand that too because I was also worried people would shread my work to pieces. When they do though, it only helps you to get back up on your feet and make you get better!

Don't be scared, nobody bites around here (you might get a few nibbles though hahahaha). You'll be fine and there are always kind and happy people to help you around if you need any help or even if you just want a nice chat and get to know other members.

I hope you like it here, that you fit in soon (I know you will) and that you don't feel left out like you said.

As for English, I'll suggest you check out this place: Knowledge base or Writing tip? These are places where you can get writing tips and/or help in grammar and such. I hope it helps!

So yeah, I hope you like it here and that we'll see you and your work around! Again, don't worry about harsh critiques: they hurt (I know) but they help. Sure you feel all depressed at first but after a while you just don't care anymore, it just wears off on its own.
