Micah,
Nadia puts her hand on my knee as things heat up between us all. Dill looks like he's ready to kill somebody, which was undoubtedly what he was going into the jungle to do. And then it's Lire, Lire, of all people, who stands up and demands that we stop acting childish about the whole thing. This makes me look more closely at her. She's got a very commanding air about her, and is obviously a much more leader-like person than I had first thought. Dill seems to be considering us, unsure what to do now.
"If you want us to help," Nadia says calmly, shrugging, "We're willing."
"Yeah," I say, "We want to see Ten safe, as well. But he said that he'd be back by dark, so let's trust him, and wait until then. I mean, nightfall can only be, what, about an hour away?" The sun is fairly low in the sky by now.
Dill still looks like he wants to run into the woods. I sigh.
"Look Dill," I say softly, "I know that you want to be sure that he's okay. I get that. But running off into the jungle by yourself is dangerous, even for you. We're much stronger as a team. Let's not break that up."
