Spoiler
I had #3
1:34 a.m: The dark figure entered the room.
Anger coursed through me. My fingers nearly squeezed the trigger, but I stopped in time. Barely. I had to wait. I couldn't shoot too early. He had to suffer first.
1:36 a.m: The sleeping child woke to the blade on her throat and tried, but failed, to scream.
The grown man underneath me screamed like my little girl as I carved her name into his arm.
1:36 a.m: A nine-year-old was murdered.
My wife had argued that if I did this, I was no better than him. But this murder was different. My daughter was innocent, this man was not. I would give this man the justice he was not given by the incompetent cops. I would be punished for this, by God and by the governers, but every man who does wrong deserves justice.
