We’re wingless in this aimless flight,
Armless in this bitter fight.
Like birds in the sky,
We all fly,
We all try,
And for what?
These lifeless cages in scripted with our meaningless names,
Rattling with relentless chains.
Imprisoned among these countless dead dreams,
Torn from the seams
Of our broken wings.
No one told me I stopped sleeping,
And started bleeding,
And abruptly—
Quit breathing.
And that everything I’ve ever bled for,
Meant nothing evermore.
I will not beg my broken heart to heal, to feel,
Because I don’t think it was ever even real.
