Design me a novel cover entry

I admit I'm not a very good artist but if I were to design a book's front cover
I would probably design it like this, was a little unsure whether there should
had been like a lighning bolt or thunder in the background.

I was also unsure as to how to draw one of these "men" which grabbed Greg,
I was originally going for the scene which happened in the last chapter
but then I thought what if Ava was in more danger and they were on a clifftop.
But then I had problems with the background colour =/

Oh well!

If I would pick one thing I like the most about that cover, it would definitely be the drawing. It may not be the best drawing in the world as I can see some mistakes especially the huge man dressed in white, however, the drawing as a whole gives the cover a unique style.
I think DramaLlama's novel has the fiction/mystery/magic theme, so the background color (the light blue) is not matching at all. In fact, the color is too bright and creates a contradiction between the main theme of the novel. Try to use a darker color.
My last comment would be on the on font style, it is too simple. Maybe if you have used something more sophisticated and spooky, that would add more style to the cover.

thanls but Llama looks like to only have given us by the end of today... that's not nearly enough time to finish the book's design =/

As I said if I had more time to work on it- I would add a lightning bolt in the background I can't change the background colour without the writing being all messed up with bits of blue in it... It would require me to start from scratch and it would probably take me another day to tweak all these things to get them the way I want them to be, gah....

Wow, this was very blue! It's a lot more light hearted than what I would have chosen myself but it certainly seems to represent the novel. I like the font you have used on the back cover as well. There are a few mistake in the drawing but nothing in life is perfect. In future perhaps you could sketch your design onto paper and then scan it into the computer? You may fund you have more control over the final product.

Yeh I should had done that, maybe next time I'll plan it out better oh well it was a good attempt.

Yeah, what ^ she said. But I have to add that if it were a little less bright it'd be better. I also agree that you should probably draw on paper then scan because drawing on the computer is hard. It's nice and I find it does tell an awful lot so bravo for that!

Yeh like I already said: I didn't intend it to be bright blue I was going to put it in dark blue with the lightning strikes from the original cover... but by the time I had finished the deadline came and I couldn't do anything about it.
