July 2011 was a rough month for the Young Writers Society owing to the database failures that plagued the site for a bit more than a week. Even once these were fixed, site activity remain subdued for two weeks. It was not until the last week of July until things picked up again. But once they picked up, things began moving right along.

So without further ado...

If you exclude "not set," as I usually do, then Israel comes in at number 10 with 427 visits.

If you exclude "not set," Denver comes in at number 10 with 493 visits. Note also that I'm almost 100% sure that most of those "not set" visits are from London.

Clearly Ireland hasn't represented in July. I agree, who is this Iceland person?

Yay for all the new users! At least we broke a few records.

Also, Nate, could you explain the "Unique Visitors" statistic to me? I mean, did we really have 13,000 people online? Because that's pretty amazing- or is that somehow warped? I think you've explained before, but I've forgotten.

Unique visitors is exactly what you think it is. Yet that doesn't mean we had 13,000+ unique YWSers in July. A lot of those unique visitors are people who were doing a Google search, or who just by chance visited the site. You'd be surprised the random Google searches that YWS shows up in the top 10 for.

Plus, not every unique visitor is really unique. For example, at least three of those unique visitors are me because I accessed YWS in July from my apartment, my phone, and from my parents' house.

Seems like Ottawa and Toronto are bound and determined to be in the top ten from now on.

I love getting the numbers for all the rankings!

The spotty orange world map looks like the spreading of a YWS virus. The world has YWS fever, and the US is the most infected! Thanks, Nate.
