Right-o. Hi, I'm Addie, I'm a 15 year old girl from the Philippines. It's summer at the moment, but when school starts up again, I'm going to be a Junior in high school. My favorite subjects are English and Science. I'm addicted to the British TV show Doctor Who.

My favorite genre to read is Fantasy -- I love Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, and His Dark Materials, among many others -- although I'll read anything that looks well-written. I confess that I have a horrible habit of judging a book by it's cover.

As for writing, I'd love to be able to write better poetry and short stories. I've participated in NaNo twice before, but I've never finished because I've didn't properly plot my stories and I got lazy about half-way through. Most of the things I write are on the short side (more drabble-ish than anything), although I've been working to try and create more realistic characters and plotlines. I also write a bit of fanfiction.

I've got to go now, but I'm excited to be a part of this community. c:

Hey-o Addie-o!

Cool! Another Asian! There quite a few Filipinos here.
Yay for Science! And I must really start The Doctor some day.

Oh and Welcome to YWS! We have a special forum for fanfics. Though I don't review fanfics, I like reading some of them ^^

See you around!

Welcome to the community! xD We are most glad to have you. You seem like a real fun addition to YWS. I think you'll find soon that YWS will seem like a real fun addition to your life as well!

Anyhoo, I just wanted to welcome you in properly by saying that if you ever need any help with anything concerning the site, or are in need of an honest review, I'd be quite happy to help you out. ^-^ Just drop a comment on my wall or send a PM my way. I will be quick to get back to you and suffice to all your site needs. :D

Oh, and Harry Potter is awesome. Although, I have to be honest when I say I've never read any of the books. I've only watched the movies, and they're awesome. I just barely got to see Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 and it was way cool. If you're into stuff like that, I can only imagine how cool your style of writing must be. You'll surely fit in fine, I promise!

Anyway, I suppose I am off. ^-^ Take care, Addie.

Wow, thanks for all the welcomes. c: Everyone here is so friendly.

Lava: Ooh, do start soon. I love Doctor Who, although so far, I've only been able to watch the new series. I must find a way to watch Old Who. :|a

I suppose I should post a few of my fanfics, then, but for the most part, I think I'll keep anything but the good fanfics away from here. xD I have loads of rubbish ones.

Ignatius5453: Thanks! :D

SmylinG: Thank you! I'll keep all of that in mind. C:

Never read the books? Blasphemy! Just kidding, of course. xD I have nothing against people who haven't read them, although I usually badger them to go and read it. ;D Read, read, read, I say! :o

Hello, I'm Annie! Okay Addie, honestly, you seem like a really awesome newb. If you have any questions, I know everything am happy to help! :3

Doctor Who = Love. I have never read The Bartimaeus Trilogy or His Dark Materials but I'll add them to my long list of things I must read. I'm not a huge fanfic fan -- My Immortal ruined it for me -- but I read and sometimes review short stories and poetry. And some chapter stories, even.
Spoiler
Recommendation if you like fantasy - Swan Song by Snoink. That is currently my favorite on YWS. Don't tell Snoink. >.>

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it here! I know I do.

Hi Addie! It's good to see you around! I think you'll find a bunch of excellent fantasy stories here -- I was reading one today just now by silentpages that had to do with an ambassador-hopeful who saw a pirate land ashore! It was pretty exciting. But there are a lot of other excellent fantasy stories, so hopefully you'll find a lot of up-and-coming authors here! :D

Also, you'll find people who will... ahem... persuade you to write more in your story. It's awesome. We have a really supportive group over here, and it's wonderful! :D

My favorite subjects in school were science and English too... in fact, I'll be graduating soon with a degree in Biochemical Engineering! :D Anyway, what sorts of sciences do you love and have you ever considered becoming a scientist? Also, do you like science fiction at all? I found myself loving science fiction after a bit too much science in school... though, now I am a science fiction snob and I only really appreciate when they use real science in their stories. XD

Anyway, good to see you around! :D

(I know I already said hi, but...) Hey! Welcome to the site, it's good to have you here. :D

Woop! Another Bartimaeus fan! I absolutely love those books (I'm currently reading the Amulet of Samarkand again) and I get super excited when I find another fan. :D Have you read the Ring of Solomon?

And Percy Jackson. ^_^ I'm something of a Logan Lerman fan, so I really liked the movie -- did you? Most people I know have said that they were really disappointed with how different the movie was from the book.

Well, I'll see you around! Cheers!

Razcoon: Thanks! c: Yay, another Doctor Who fan. Have you watched any Old Who?

KatTrain: Thank you. :D

Snoink: I've read that one, I think it's amazing. :D Haha, I probably need more persuading anyway. I can never seem to find the energy to write longlonglong stories.

I love all the sciences we've covered so far, actually. My favorite is Biology, though. I've played around with the idea of becoming a scientist in the future, and I quite like the idea, so I'm not ruling it out of the (admittedly small) potentials list. I haven't read much sci-fi, but I like the ones I've read so far, as long as they're not too out there.

Ranger Hawk: Hi again. :D I haven't read the Ring of Solomon yet, I'm trying to get my hands on a copy.

I was kind of disappointed in the movie, mostly because of who they cast as Annabeth, and the characterization of some of the characters, and the plot, but it was alright for a book-turned movie.

Master_Yoda: I firmly believe that the world needs more commas. I do believe in commas. I do, I do. , , ,

Yeah, I agree! Science fiction that is way too out there is way too out there! But, I was talking with some researchers, and they actually get ideas from science fiction. Like, they'll have meetings where they say, "I read about ________ in a book... do you think we can do that too?" So that's really neat!

And DUDE. You will get persuaded to do things, trust me. At YWS, we're really good at nagging. The trick is that, in your writing, you need to put as MANY cliffhangers as possible! That way, your readers will constantly go, "ZOMG, I NEED TO READ MORE!" And then they'll bug you any way they can. In fact, today one particular YWSer who goes to my school (convenient, eh?) was bugged by me. I got her a milkshake and harassed her about posting her story here. Now, obviously she goes to my school and everything, so that gives me an upper edge that you may not have (unless you bring some of your school mates here!) but, while were drinking milkshakes, we talked about people we needed to bug to post more. So, it's definitely part of the YWS culture. ;)

I think we have a club here that is the society for the prevention of comma abuse... maybe you can join that? :D

Snoink: Ooh, that's pretty neat. What sci-fi books would you recommend (both on and off YWS)? c:

I could probably persuade some of my friends to join. >:3

But I abuse commas! I tend to write lots of run-on sentences if no one stops and corrects me. >>

iampaulop: Ooh, that's pretty cool. History is one of my other favorite subjects. c:

I do believe in fairies! I do! I do!

Welcome to the site. Seems like you'll fit right in. :)

Have you by chance read The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss or anything by Terry Brooks or Neil Gaiman?

Let me know if you need any help with anything, site wise or writing wise, though I'd probably be of more help with poetry.
Hope you like it here!
