Hello!
Um. I'm not really good at these intro things. Hehe. Well, I've been writing for a long time, but just realized that I actually have somewhat of talent for it. So lately my friends have told me that my writing is actually really good, and that the ideas I have are pretty well thought. I think what got me was when my english teacher told me that I have great quality to be an author someday.

So I lurked around on the web, found this nice place, and after looking at it for a week, decided to finally join.
I guess you're all wondering what I write? I write mainly fantasy/supernatural type topics. I usually can only write short stories, not too much patience. Um. I also enjoy writing of ...different topics, such as philosophy plus as broad as gender studies. Which I sometimes have a hard time showing to people. You know, I don't like upsetting people if my views are different than theirs.

I'm pretty shy, so it might take time for me to open up. o-0 lol

It's nice to have another fantasy author here! We have quite a few already but it's my favourite genre so the more the merrier.

Yeah, I do have quite a few questions on how the site works and all, but yes, I will ask for help when I need some, thanks! I hope to be a good contribution to the community, lol, even if I get nervous when posting. (socially awkward xD)

Anyway, welcome! I love fantasy and philosophy too... in fact, my characters often just rant about philosophy and stuff. It's awesome, lol. So, in the last thing I posted, I had my characters talk about the purpose of pain in life and how pain led to sacrifice which led to love. It was really random! But I love weaving in philosophy with stories. It makes things that much more fun.

Anyway, good to see you here! The fact that you like gender studies and the like and fantasy makes me wonder... do you have any fantasy stories where a protagonist women shakes up gender roles or something? That would be awesome!

I love the study of philosophy, and interweaving fantasy with it is always a plus! The gender role thing, ohh man, I did write a one page story (for my english teacher) which involved a girlish boy who had a crush on a boyish girl. Like she was a sports lover, and he never thought she would notice him due to him just being a "fancy" piano player. I don't know what happened to that story though... Anyways, I do enjoy even going further, by writing about topics such as transgenderism and androgyne. Those topics seem to really interest me. But, I try not to show those writings to people, as I have already had big arguments with friends who didn't agree with the LGBT rights and all. It's not fun having someone tell you that your writing is "a bad influence". But, anyways, here I am rambling.

I will try very hard to overcome my shyness, just for this community! I already feel at home!

Also, a bit of a problem I run into with my friends who also write. I found a thread here, about how some authors actually get to know their characters, and let them "talk" to them in their heads. My friends say they thought that it was insane. I hope I'm not though! lol I was wondering about that technique of better getting to know your characters...

Dude, no way! Having characters talk with you isn't that weird at all... one of my characters, Lin (she's from my story, Swan Song, which has tons of philosophical ramblings in it, if you're interested!) dropped this BOMBSHELL piece of information on me, and I was like, "OMG. WHAT? YOU KEPT THIS FROM ME?" And then I realized what that meant and I realized why she kept it from me... I was pretty mad at her. I still am, in fact. D: I think her love interest will forgive her (I am pretty sure he will) but I would be like, "Um... bye!" Just because I don't agree with it at all and she was such a... GRR.

No, I'm not crazy at all. ;D

We have a pretty strong LGBT community over here! Contact Jon for more information and he'll be glad to direct you to it. But yeah... we definitely have that sort of stuff around here, and one of our members (his name is Ross) actually self-published this novel about a gay high schooler adjusting to school... so that genre is definitely out there on YWS! So, definitely, don't feel alone or whatever. We love writers of allllll sorts of different viewpoints. Our only problem with writers happens when you leave us on a cliffhanger for too long... then we can get upset.

Awesome! Yes! I'm not crazy after all! lol Yeah, I have very engaging conversations with my characters. lol They are like my best friends. Even the villains. lol I seem to find the good in everyone, so of course I do that with fictional characters. ^^

Although, I am going through a bit of writer's block at the moment. A family tragedy just happened, and it seems normal that I've lost my ability to write for a while... even though I just got over a writer's block that lasted for nearly a year!

And thank you very much! That's awesome that I won't have to worry about feeling criticized for my work! lol

Well, your work will be criticized! Make no doubt about that... but it is done with lots and lots of love and we'll never criticize you.

And yes (about the villains)! I don't really think of my villains as villains... they're just characters who choose the wrong path! So when I hear about people that hate my villains, I'm usually confused because I like them, even though I admit they were stupid. (Lin was especially stupid, which is why I am angry with her right now, lol, but my anger will pass!) But, weirdly enough I hate characters from other books (and yet love them all the same). I am quite abundant in my love and hate. xD

Family tragedies are awful! I am sad that you had to go through them... I know how difficult they can be! But, if it makes you feel better, everyone goes through a tragedy, and there have actually been psychological studies done that show that tragedies actually help people develop into better people... it gives them a better sense of what is important in life. So, just concentrate on what is more important. <3

lol I always have the tendency to like the villains the best! Haha! I always claim they are so misunderstood! So, I try to understand them. That's all they need, right? Hehe!
