Recent Artwork

Some paintings and drawings done over the past month and a half. A lot of experimenting with mediums.

This is my first full oil painting. It's still not finished. So far it has taken about 7 hours. I'm proud of it though.


Here is one of my few successful attempts at acrylic paintings.


I just did this one today. Mainly done with a ballpoint pen and some sketching pencils.


THis is just a doodle of the face from Circa Survive's Blue Sky Noise album art by Esao Andrews (who is my bigest inspiration if i may mention).


And this is just a pointless doodle titled Orangeantlers

Hey! Your paintings are awesome I wish I could paint like that

Wow, these are pretty good! I like them a lot; you're able to show a full range of different styles, from cartoon-like to abstract to realistic. I envy your talent, and you should definitely keep drawing/painting. My specific comments for each:

#1 - This is good, and it's even more incredible considering the time you put in to it. It's certainly better than anything I could ever do; however, I still think that it could be a lot better. The grassy area and walkway is good, but there is something about the tree stump/building sky that doesn't seem proportionate; it's like they've all been squeezed together instead of existing as separate entities (like they should be). This is especially true with the sky; I don't get a sense of depth, wonderful. Still, a great painting!

#2 - Very cool! I like how this abstract yet realistic, and the plain black background compliments the colors of the tree and really makes it stand out, in my opinion. The signature thing in the bottom right corner is a little distracting, and I guess my other comment would be that this just doesn't feel right when you look at it in terms of focus. It just kind of feels laid down on the paper as opposed to being the drawing.

#3 - This is also very cool! You definitely make the characters look like how they did in the movie, and I can see the attention to detail. The swirly things in the background are cool, but they're a bit distracting, and overall this drawing just seems a bit messier, more hastily done. That could be in part to the difference in mediums, but it kind of looks like you started out with an intricate drawing, lost your patience, and hurriedly finished the rest. Overall, I like it though.

#4 - Whoa, creepy. I like it, though. Without the swirls and things on the face, this feels very realistic, and I like how you emphasized the drawing as a whole by only using the color red. Overall, it just seems a bit messy; the lines are all over place and, like the last one, it feels even more hastily done. I'm not sure what the swirls on the face are supposed to mean, but they are really distracting.

#5 - Very cute. I like it a lot; your shading is good, and again, I like how you used only one color for emphasis. Not much else to say.

Wow these are really good. One a little disturbing but still good. I really liked the second one and the first. They look really good. I think that you should do some more with these two mediums. Keep working.

Hello there.

First off, I want to say that these are pretty good, although I might say it a lot in the review...

1- I really like this, especially the sky, and the trunk of the tree... Which is awesome. The tower, I'm still not sure, it seems a little bit random. Maybe it won't be as weird when it's done? I'm not sure how you can do that much in oils... I can't work with that because I'm too impatient and my work needs to dry fast. I'm a perfectionist and I always need to re-work on my paintings. Anyways, what I was to say is great work. I'm jealous of what you can do with oils.

2- I really like this one as well. I love the lines that build up to the tree. I also like how the top is realistic when the bottom is far from it. It's a great mix between the two.

3- I like this. Nothing more to say. No, I'm kidding. I like the details you've put into this drawing, like at the top of her head, and at the bottom where her name is. Also, your tree looks amazing. I'm trying to find something in the range of constructive criticism, but I'm failing.

4- This one is probably my least favorite. I don't know if it's because you took a photo for that one... I would like more details, especially after seeing the other drawings/paintings you've done. This seems almost sloppy in comparison... But I would definitely put up a better picture.

5- Last but not least! It's a cute doodle. I like the pop of color, it gives a little more life.

These are beautiful --first off. (: You obviously are very artistically inclined. No question about that. But what I loved most was the range that becomes apparent through looking at all of these pieces.

The first two seem very similar in style. (My opinion.) There's something that comes off very smooth about the way they were painted. But at the same time the subject of what was painted comes off very strong, too. So it's a beautiful balance. The way you made the sky. The colors are amazing. And the shapes of the clouds, there's something very whimsical about that. It almost reminds me of an illustration out of a children's storybook.

As for the tree in the second painting, there's something very luminous about it that I love. The branches are all contorted so sharply. The trunk of the tree looks like if it were spun into thick pieces of yarn -it's so different. The black background is what makes it stand out so ominously, causing it to come off with that very luminous appeal.

The Coraline drawing came off very edgy. I think you did a great job with all the textures and sharp contrasts. The background seems a little softer, but it's what makes it especially pop. You gave it depth in the layers. It might look cool in color, but it's beautiful the way it is just black in white.

That fourth piece you did sort of creeped me out, in all the good ways though. It's truly a work of art. All of these are really great. I hate to be a critic when these are all something I would totally pay for and be happy with. (: Keep up the great work. And keep that borderline morbid style you have going on. It's awesome. ;P

Wow! These are incredible. Gosh, I'm jealous. My favourite is definetly the first one. I love the way you painted the sky, the swirls and colours look great. I really like the contrast between the colourful sky, and the more dull grass. I'm far from an artist myself, so I can't really offer any critques or advice. However, they all look great to me!
