This story is special as it was for my girlfriend; as such the plot will not be changed but I want help fixing it up; as such what it changes matters greatly for it will impact her when I give it to her revised. Continuing on is not going to be posted; as it is very intimate and I only gave her this chapter. Hope you guys will help me...this is from early this year in Jan.

Chapter One

The ivory moon stood out against the black night as five young girls gathered together in the woods, far from the closest city of Oceanas. The wind blew leaves off the trees, rustling the bushes and shrubs as small forest animals scurried into their nests.

The oldest stepped forward, her face the mask of peace and calmness. She carried a book full of unreadable writing. She glanced at each of the other four girls separately and boldly as she asked, “Are you all positive that you wish to become family?”

One of the girls glanced at her, the one who had brown wavy hair that reached her shoulders and green eyes that seemed to sparkle in the night, smiled cheekily at her saying, without hesitation, “I love you, Evelyn. There is no way I would back out from this.”

Evelyn smiled at her love, her blue eyes sparked with love as the others nodded in agreement. Evelyn carefully tied her long black hair back, revealing the thin rose scar on her neck. She wore a dark purple shirt that ended just above her stomach and a pair of lose fitting black pants with many pockets. She wore a light blue jacket with a silver wolf howling at a red moon on the back.

The girl who had spoken was dressed in a red skirt with black vines patterned with a thin silver colored sweater. Around her neck was a dragon pendant made out of LifeRuby and ancient magic.

She pulled out one of the many daggers hidden underneath her long sleeves and handed it hilt first to Evelyn. The dagger was custom designed, and had a strong red hilt shaped like a fox with a secret compartment in the mouth for poison, which was empty at the moment. The blade looked silver but as the moonlight hit it is seemed to shine a bright amethyst.

Evelyn opened the book to a page near the end and let it float in the air in the center of the group. Her eyes skimmed over the lines one last time as she began, “With the blessing of Ashanga I call upon Soula the Protector to grant us the right to become a true family in blood.”

Light flashed as a large gate sprang before them, seeming to ooze the very feelings of belonging and trust. As it opened, ten figures moved forward. Shrouding themselves as unrecognizable shadows, the center one stretched out an ivory hand speaking powerfully and with authority, “You have been given permission by Soula herself to commence.”

Evelyn blinked, stunned before bowing and made a slight cut to her palm, speaking loudly and clearly, “I, Evelyn Flamesheart, swear upon my ancestors and on my honor to be family in mind, soul, and now blood to Deva ShadowFlute, Ella Dragonfly, Aeritha Nightshade, and Rebekka FireSnow.”

Bright silver light erupted from the book, it flew towards her and seemed to wrap around her arms, binding her with the spell. The knife flew to the person counterclockwise in small group which as Aeritha Nightshade.

Aeritha was a rather thin girl, with blonde hair that reached her mid back and was perfectly straight, the envy of all the females with either wavy or curly hair. Her eyes were rather peculiar. When she was younger they had once been a deep oceanless blue, the shade of sapphires. Now they changed as she repeated the process that Evelyn had spoken, replacing her name with Evelyn’s. She also wore white shirt and a pair of black jeans with a red cloak with a hood. On the back of the long cloak was the Dragonfly family crest, a rose through a broken heart like an arrow. The cracks seemed to be coming from the punctures made by the rose.

As the words left her mouth the same light bound her as it had done Evelyn as the knife passed on to Rebekka, the one who has spoken to Evelyn before. As she finished a light bound her to and the knife went on to Deva.

Deva wore a dark green shirt and camouflage pants with several hoops and pockets. Her black hair reached just beneath her shoulders and was tied up revealing a very heart shaped face. Her eyes turned a bottomless amethyst purple shade when she finished speaking and the light bound her and the knife passed on to the last member, Ella.

Ella was rather short girl amongst her friends and had long red hair to her knees that was impossibly curly and unable to be straightened no matter what. She wore blue jeans with many drawings she had drawn on them. She wore a light yellow shirt that the sleeves grew in width when they got to the wrist, causing them to be slightly bell shaped, enhancing the beauty of her from far away. Her green eyes turned to a bright hazelnut brown, almost black color as she finished speaking and the light engulfed her as well.

When the last of the words were said and the light had bound them all, the light switched amongst hundreds of colors, finally stopping on pure white, like freshly fallen snow, changing Evelyn’s and Rebekka’s left eyes to that same color, but when far away they looked like the same color as the right ones.

Once the ceremony was complete the strangers stepped forward. The first pair revealed a young girl with brown eyes and long blonde hair. She wore a long white dress with a sword in her hand. Beside her was a panther. Its golden eyes stared into Evelyn’s own eyes. Together they began to speak, their voices loud and seemed to shake the very universe with its power.
“Evelyn Flamesheart we grant you with the power for everything for physical and magical attack. You will be skilled in all weapons and all magical attacks but the elements. You must use and practice this power to be able to keep it.”

She nodded as the girl handed her the sword. It was beautifully crafted and was a perfect match for her. It had a silver hilt with fine emerald silk thread wrapped around it in a swirled design. At the end of the hilt was a glowing silver orb. The blade was an ice blue that looked like a snow covered blade. As she touched it the gem flared red and the blade seemed to glow a brilliant red. She stared at it in awe as the panther and the girl vanished, leaving two seals on her forearms. They meant Courageous and Offense.

Another group stepped forward. The girl had brown hair and blue eyes and wore the same white dress as the other. Beside her was an owl. They stared deep into Aeritha’s eyes speaking, “We gift you the power of the elements. You must gain the elements’ respect and train with them everyday to keep them.”

They handed her a book filled with countless books on the elements and how to use them for defense and offense. It shifted the name from Darksilver Angemon to Aeritha Nightshade. As the two disappeared two seals appeared on the back of her hands meaning knowledge and elements.

Another pair moved forward, staring into Deva’s eyes. The girl, wearing a green dress, had blue eyes and red hair. With her was a fox. She spoke softly, “We have gifted you with every physical and magical spell of defense. Just as your friends you must train hard everyday to keep these powers.”

They handed her a shield. It was a brilliant green with a picture of a large dragon in the center, clenching a beautiful silver flute for magic. The two faded away, leaving seals for wary and defense on her wrists.

The next group stepped forward and the girl had brown hair and blue eyes wearing a red dress. Around her wrist was a baby basilisk. She smiled warmly at Ella saying,”We grant you the power with Runes but you must train and work at it everyday to get better and stronger with them.”

They handed her an orb made of magic, etched with ancient and powerful runes of hidden power. It was glowing a brilliant dark green as it floated in her hand, switching into a bracelet and sealing itself around her neck as the two vanished. On her upper arms were seals for cunning and runes.

Finally the last group stepped forward. The girl wore a silver dress and had long black hair and silver eyes. Along with her was a white tiger with clear blue eyes. She smiled at Rebekka saying, “We grant you the power of healing both magically and normally. You must practice this everyday in order to keep and maintain this delicate power.”

They vanished after giving her a staff. It was made of red oak and on top was a diamond tiger. It seemed to glow as seals for healing and honesty appeared on her palms. As the book fell to the ground and the light vanished, the sun began to creep up, causing them to yawn. They all moved into a tree, falling asleep. Rebekka and Evelyn sat on a branch curled up and fell asleep beside each other, their love binding them together.
May the gentle moon take you into peaceful dreams. May the mighty sun brighten your new days.

The wind blew leaves off the trees, rustling the bushes and shrubs as small forest animals scurried into their nests. Just a small nit-pick, would thhey all have nests? If they all do they are more likely to fly to them.

I can't find a lot of little nit-picks in here. For the most part- your grammer is good as is your use of tenses. My overall impression is a positive one, yet I can't help feeling that there's something lacking. The way you structure your sentences is (for want of a better word) samey. Try introducing variety through long and short sentences when you describe things.
Happy Writing :)
