This year, YWS would like to reward successful participants of National Poetry Writing Month by giving those people 1,000 points, 2 YWS bookmarks, and a YWS bumper sticker. For our purposes, successful participation means writing 20 poems on 20 different days. Why not 30? Because we're starting this late and because there should be some leeway.

At the end of the month, successful participants will receive a link to a form where they'll be able to fill out the necessary information for obtaining the YWS swag.

Of course, this is just a small way to reward those who take the challenge (and to get 1,000 bookmarks finally out of my closet). The reason people should participate is because writing a poem every day is a deceptively challenging task that will help your mind grow. But, hey, a little swag never hurt either, right?

At the NaPo thread:

forum196.html
I am nothing
but a mouthful of 'sorry's, half-hearted
apologies that roll of my tongue, smoothquick, like 'r's
or maybe like pocket candy
that's just a bit too sweet.

How long is an acceptable poem?

I have no clue... lol

Camulaeus ->> Someone PMmed me asking if haikus are alright, and I responded that's fine. There's no set length, but I would encourage experimenting with lots of different formats. The goal isn't to produce good poetry, but really just to challenge yourself.

Posum ->> In this forum, The Poetry Writing Month Challenge, just start a new thread and title it something like "Posum's NaPoWriMo." Then just add poems by replying to your own thread.

Is it just an in-site thing? And will there be a winner?

It's just NaPo, so no it's not just an in-site thing, but the prizes are. And anyone who completes 20 poems on 20 different days wins, right? 8D

Ha, ok. So there's no special prize for the best thread or something?
