Newinus: New Blood
Ye, who read, proceed with caution,
For ‘tis said that this here portion
Of the Legend’s hideous fate,
Drove men to their deathly gates.
In the age of Angels’ leaving,
Of the Id’lis’ silent grieving,
At the Celith’s mighty peak,
Newinus had cried a week.
Angel’s daughter sobbed a river,
As her screaming sent a shiver
Through the dewy, foggy sky,
With a sneeze she cleaned it dry.
Comb in one hand, cup in other,
She howled deeply for her lover,
Brushed her faint and milky hair,
Swished the flawless fluff so fair.
As she lay with brush in hand,
Two phoenixes did brave to land!
One was gold, the other black,
One showed breast, the other back.
Gold wore glaring, glinting feathers,
Black bore nightly, naked leather.
As they saw the Witch’s mourn,
Licked her spotless of her scorn.
Such sublime ethereal creatures,
With superb celestial features,
She embraced her two new beasts,
Gold of west and Black of east.
As she bathed her two new sisters,
In the months of starry glisters,
Something stirred her strange, unwell,
As her belly came to swell.
Flat to round and round to fat,
She knew not what was at hap.
Newinus, while in her sleeping,
In her belly felt a creeping,
And one lucid lunar night,
Woke the world in frantic fright.
Phoenixes, alarmed in shudder,
Looked in awe at one another,
Witch’s wonder was at wake,
As she wailed in dreaded ache.
In the light of heaven’s twinkling,
And the spray of Id’lis’ sprinkling,
Witch, with rigorous ado,
Birthed not only one but two.
One wore blue, seraphic eyes,
Other bore a chestnut’s dye.
One had flaming, flaring bristle,
Other was as bald as crystal.
Angel’s child now eyed her gems,
Kissed her beefy newborn men.
Newinus, the willful witch,
Felt her heart once more enriched.
Though she loved her tiny treasures,
She knew she needed take measure
To protect her siblings both,
So she swore and took an oath.
“In this vow I beg you pardon,
May my heart break as it hardens,
In a year from this eve’s start,
I will from my two sons part.”
To the phoenixes she trusted,
That they bear, in snowflake dusted,
Her two sons in moonlight’s squint,
To the lands of magic’s glint.
At the year’s eleventh chiming,
Newinus was tensely timing
Sun’s arise and Sun’s descend,
Fearing fiercely bliss’s end.
At the sound of one year’s jingling,
Witch could hear the play of siblings.
As they splashed in river’s ice,
Witch dared kiss them in her vice.
In one simple, flawless motion,
Like the waves within the Ocean,
Mother roped, a helpless wreck,
Both sons ‘round a Phoenix neck.
Gold and Black, in snowy powder,
Took their flight at leaving’s hour,
Squawked farewell to Witch’s woe,
Soaring to the moon aglow.
At the tip of Celith’s tower,
Underneath the frosty shower,
Newinus, cold as she waived,
Took the leap into her grave.
In the Celith’s mighty chasm,
Idolis now yields her spasm.
It is said that since her dawn,
Angels left the world forlorn.
And ‘tis said, in Id’lis’ rush,
One may glimpse the Witch’s brush.
