For YWS' birthday on November 14, 2010, I got rid of the banner ad. It's been gone for 2.5 months, and after taking a look at January's revenue, I think it's time to bring it back.
So, my apologies! I don't much enjoy the banner ad myself, but it does keep YWS afloat.
As part of the change, the background color of YWS is now grey. I did this because as the ad background is blue and the YWS background was blue, there was a fairly overwhelming amount of blue. But hey, grey is the new black and maybe it'll make YWS look hip and modern.
More revenue = happy YWSers! I don't mind the ads at all, and the grey is perfectly fine too, although it does seem less cheerful than the blue. But I'd have to see them side by side to decide if I preferred one over the other. Maybe you could make the footer blue with grey lettering or something, to balance it out some more? Just a possibility-- not sure how that would look!
"Let's eat, Grandma!" as opposed to "Let's eat Grandma!": punctuation saves lives.
I thought I saw something different but I couldn't figure out what it was. Shows you how great of an observer I am right? Anyway I can live with the ads because I love YWS so much and grey is one of my favorite colors so I like that.
Books are the ultimate Dumpees: put them down and they'll wait for you forever; pay attention to them and they always love you back. -John Green (An Abundance of Katherines)
There will come a time you'll see, with no more tears and love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.
I hadn't noticed that the colour was different to be honest but taking a look at it now, it's fine by me. It's a rather nice shade of grey and matches the sword in the header
