Are there any other websites like YWS?

I've kind of been looking around, but I haven't found very many other good writing critique websites. Can anybody link one? Thanks.

Teenage Writers is good, but becoming somewhat inactive as of late.

Figment is a new site, and I'm not really sure if it's any good or not. I've seen a few good reviews on it, but there are a lot of reviews that say stuff like "I love how you separated your paragraphs with a line."

Inkpop is a lot like Figment, although the reviewing quality may be slightly worse. It does have the upshot of being a place where you can potentially get your novel into the hands of actual editors.

Young Writers Online is an off-shoot of Teenage Writers, and it used to be the more active of the two. But I just took a quick look at their short stories forum, and it seems pretty quiet there.

I really like WattPad, and if I were still doing creative writing, it'd probably be the site that I use since it caters to all ages (as opposed to YWS that only caters to young writers). However, reviews are hit or miss. Some good reviewers on there, but a lot of bad ones.

You can get pretty good reviews here, and it's on the whole a nice site. But they have a weird points system where you have to earn points to do something as simple as just reading your private messages.

Writing Forums is similar to YWS in that it also uses a forum format. I haven't really visited it much, but from what I've heard, it is really good. But like most forums, it's activity is slowly declining (it's still active though).

I've heard some good things about Authonomy, but mostly bad. It's another site where you have the chance to get your novel into the hands of editors, but good luck.


If you're looking for a site similar to YWS, then either Young Writers Online, Teenage Writers, or Writing Forums is your best bet. YWO and TW are both good sites, but like most forums, their activity is declining. WF is still active, and seems to be doing alright.

Inkpop, Figment, and Authonomy are all sort of the same. If you're looking for a site to share a novel, these are probably your best bets. You're also likely to get a lot of comments on these sites, although the quality of those comments are not going to be great.

Writing.com and Mibba both suck.

WattPad and Scribophile are both really nice sites, but the former is the better of the two in my opinion since it doesn't require you to jump through ridiculous hoops. But, Scribophile will also get you quality reviews.

Nate's just being humble. There really is no site like YWS.

And as an ex-TWer, I'd say that other sites don't have anything like the same atmosphere (though YWO and TW are similar, because of the overlapping members) as YWS. It can be quite a shock to shift between one writing site and another.

Agreed. I've gotten far too spoiled with YWS. I'm not used to seeing so much chat speak and bad spelling in other forums.

YWS is really the best option. I'm not sucking up, I'm just stating a fact. Teenage Writers has a similar format but the people there are a lot harsher and I personally don't like the attitude of some of the people there. The site is ok but the people ruined it for me. I'm sorry that probally wasn't very helpful but I just thought I should tell you my personal opinion.
