Beginer in photography

Blessed be everyone!

Okay, so I'm sophomore in college studying Communications, one of my classes this semester was photography; I always liked taking pictures of everything around me and since I began class I started loving and being passionate about photography and how it can capture the beauty of this world.

Normaly, I like taking pictures at plants, trees, people, and sometimes animals. I'll soon scan my film pictures and post them here too.

So, here are just a few pictures I took with different digital cameras, the last two were taken with the Uni's digital camera which is highly explensive and super cool.

Well, I'm here to share what I've learned to love and improve on it. Hope you can enjoy!

This was an event at my Univeristy. These are the Vice consuls of the Dominican Republic. I don't know why I love this pic, I just do. This picture was taken with the best camera the Uni had....I WANT IT!!!!


I caught one of my friends being bored at a conference in the Uni. He hates this picture.

You are really good for a "beginner".
I especially love the 3rd one.

The fourth one is the most awesome. It's a tidal pool, right? You photographed it really well. It could also be a very mysterious island landscape

WOW, you're really good for a beginner! I love the first photo, it's my favourite! You used a longer shutter speed, didn't you? And maybe a tripod to keep it still?
The flower is my least favourite. It's grainy (not sure if this was due to editing or a high ISO), which takes away from the flower. There isn't much of a difference between the flower, and the background either, which is a shame. I also wish you wouldn't have cut out the tips of the petals off.
The other photos are really good too I would review in more detail, but I have to go I'll come back and do it later

These are some awesome photos. I especially like the first one. Quick comments now:

#1. A little cliched, but still is a gorgeous photo.
#2. Background is a little too distracting.
#3. I love tamarind chutneys! xD! Anyway, would look good if a little less cluttered.
#4. Beautiful beach. Good photo/angles.
#5. Well, this doesn't say much about your photography.
#6, Aha, that's a good expression. And I love how you've captured it. Maybe crop it out to cut the guy's arm on the left and the guy's hair on the right.

Hi there

1. Nicely shot, but I would work on framing it a bit more nicely- frames are very important, and led a finished quality to a photograph. The sides in this one are extremely busy and a little distracting despite the neon colors. Maybe a different crop would help this shot out?

2. This one doesn't do much for me- the colors are nice, but the focus feels off, or the subject isn't detailed enough for it to matter. The red car in the background is kind of distracting color-wise, and again, I feel like you could do a better job framing. I do like the yellow flowers in the background.


3. Nicely defined focal point, and I like the framing better in this one- the green is a bit distracting on the sides, and I think that there could have been better focus on the beans, but this was nicely done.


4. Lovely shot! I think that maybe you could play with the contrast a bit, and make sure the focus is as good as it can be, but this is really well done. Nice framing and colors, and sense of movement.

5. Nice capture- for a candid shot, very nicely done. I love the personality you've captured in the two men. It is by far the most important quality in portrait shots, and you did wonderfully on that. Maybe try working with more DOF though.

6. Excellent focal point! Love the candidness to it, and the DOF is perfect. Great job.


So, I think that you definitely have an eye for photography- maybe work on your frames and focal points, and I think that you'll be a great photographer. If you ever make a flickr, lemme know. And, if you ever want a review, let me know. c:

I love this photos... I'm actually dreaming about studying communications! 8D I also love photography.... Hey, I was wondering... Where did you edit this pics? Wow, I was studying communications to. Actually mass-communication. I like all of your photos a lot (especially the last one with the guy).
I didn't take the photography class, but I worked with the class as an editor. I remember the professor said once that you should judge someone based on photos he had taken of babies or flowers. I think that applies to your photo of a flower. No one can ever photograph a baby or a flower badly... So be more daring with your choices. You have the talent, so try to capture as much innovative photos as you can.

First of all...whoa! I didn't expect to have this many feedback and so many tips and pointers. Thank you all. I'll try to answer you questions as I possibly can since photography-talk in english is a little difficult for me.

Delmarria- It is a tidal pool...actually, one of the prettiest at the beach. Ummm, please don't say it's better than what you could do. I bet yours are good as mine or anyone else's, they are just taken from different perspectives. The world is seen differently through the eyes of each photographer. Can't wait to see yours!

Snailsareslimy- You have a wickedly cool name I did used a tripod and a long shutter speed; with it all, it was kind of difficult for me to maintain the camera still cause of the freezing night wind. I get what you mean about the flower; it was a spur of the moment picture since I was being hurried to go home. I have one rule about photography "Take your time; don't be in a hurry." The tips of the petals, well, I hadn't noticed it till now haha.

Lava, Persephonia, Solvalery, and Candyvenom- I really haven't done any editing; thinking in doing it soon though. I will take what you guys told me and work on it. Anyways, thanks so much for your pointers; comments like these only makes me take more consideration and be more careful at what I will be doing in the future. I hope I can take more photography classes since I only took basicaly four months of it. If I didn't have passion for writing I would've changed major in photography... but hey, I can do both right?

Oh, woah! I LOVE, EXTREMELY LOVE, the first one. I've always wanted to do a picture like this, but i've never really got it right. I also adore the fourth one. It's awesome. You are, very, very good for a beginner.

I love these! They are so great! The first one is so cool with the lights, I love the color of the second one, and the fourth one is absolutely gorgeous.

Let's see. Good but not great. You are pretty good for a beginner at photography, but you are deffenatly not a pro at it. Then again, you say the even in the title, so I will not judge

Photo 1: This is your best one. It gives the feel of a GPS navigator. I would reccomend, however, you to take off the uppermost area, for it is unused space, does not add effect, and even takes away from the actual shot.

Photo 2: No. No. No. This is a nature shot. It is of the beauty of the flower. The car in the background is horrible. No cars in nature shots. Though the car is a good color for the shot.

Photo 3: I do not like this shot. It is just leaves, and dead ones to be exact. There is not focus, and is really your worst of the bunch.

Photo 4: Great shot, but I believe you should of moved the shot a little. You broke a golden rule of photography. The focus is centered. NEVER do that (unless your taking a family portrait, if so, have fun). Other than that, great shot.

Photo 5: Hmm. Don't have much to say, except comment on your comments. The camera the university has IS a great camera. I mean look at the quality.

Photo 6: Haha. This shot is pretty funny. In a good way. The only comment is to cut off the right, because the woman is distracting.

I really like these, make me smile and you've used a range of different images of different things instead of the normal photographs you see on here, haha.
I love the road, its light is fabulous and the use of the night is perfect.
Each has a great focus point and keeps me looking at the detail
