Hello! So over the past few days, we've been getting a lot of snow where I live (the most there was been in 25 years). So I decided to venture out into the cold to try and get some winter snaps. Any reviews or comments would be greatly appreciated!
Hey there! Snow is fun. These are really good. The first was a nice close up and the color is nice. Awww the second is cute! The third and last is my favorite. I love snow but my mom hates it. Really nice pictures. ~Ladypurple

1st Photo: Photos of leave with light shining through them are taken a lot, but it's still good. Personally, I didn't really like it. The background is kind of distracting, and the picture a little bland to me. The leave is very well colored though.
2nd Photo: Again, I love the colors. Good choice keeping the background in focus; it's another thing to look at, but the sheep's still the main focus. I think cropping this a little would be good so you don't see all the muck at the bottom.
3rd Photo: Yet again, great colors. The sky really pops against the snow. Often in snow pictures, they look too white, but this has color. I love it!
I like the second photo the best. IT'S SOOOO CUTE! Where I live, christmas is in summer, because I'm in the southern hemisphare. Last year it was 30'c!

Oh my! I am a fan! I've always love taking pictures but notw I'm really getting in photograhy, I'm even taking a course. But your pictures are just beautiful, I love it!
What kind of camera do you use? At the moment I'm just using my simple digital Kodak md30; but hopefully in January I'll be upgrading. Do you have any camera, suggestions for an amature, like myself? I'd really apperciate it.

Thanks for all the comments guys! @melcally I'm currently using a Sony a380 DSLR camera, which is now discontinued, but it was a really good amateur camera for me as I only got it a few months ago and it was my first DSLR. I'd probably recommend these cameras:
Nikon D3100; It's just been launched to replace the D3000, and it's a fantastic little camera. It's got 14.2MP, has up to 3 frames per second shooting, ISO 100-3200 and it can shoot HD movies, which makes it a better investment in a way. However, it's around £400 (the lowest price ive seen is £379, the highest being £485. It's quite an expensive entry level DSLR, but it's definitely worth the money, and if i wasn't so keen on buying my DSLR on the day, I would have waited for this one).
Canon 1000D; it's a lot more affordable than the Nikon above; price ranging from about £286 to £394. It's got a 10.1MP but as you know, MP isn't everything, although a higher MP camera will enable you to crop a lot more. It has the same FPS rate as the Nikon too, except the IS0 only goes up to 1600, which means you might have a few issues with shooting in really dark areas.
Sony a290; I'm a sony girl. My boyfriend, and his friend are Sony fans. So if you got a Sony, I'd be really happy xD. This camera is practically the same as mine. Same MP (14.2), same FPS (2.5), same settings, same layout, 9point autofocus, IS0 100-3200, and it's priced between £290 and £350 which is also the same as my camera (I got mine greatly reduced for £300 ).
Obviously there are more brands you'd maybe want to consider, like Pentax and Olympus etc, but if I was to recommend you a camera, I'd definitely be torn between the Nikon D3100 and the Sony a290. The Nikon technically is a better camera, but the Sony is more affordable (My Sony camera hasn't let me down once and it's incredibly robust), so really it's up to you and if price of camera quality are more important. Obviously if you have more to spend than what I did, you can venture into the mid range camera which are £500ish, but I think for starting out, those 3 cameras are pretty good.
1. I like this one- it's pretty cliche, but you have some great aspects in it that people don't usually. I really like the contrast of warm and cool colors, and you have fantastic focus. I think that maybe you could adjust the crop and make it smaller, so we really get the detail of the leaf and have a more personal look into it.
2. Adorable! ^_^ I think that some DOF could have helped make the sheep stand out more, but I really like it. Super cute. c:
3. Fabulous framing and colors! The only thing I would suggest changing would be the crop again. I'd leave the sides right where they are, and maybe crop out some of the snow towards the bottom. There isn't much detail or anything, and it's pretty empty. As it is, it's more of a distraction than anything else. Great shot though.

Your second photograph is a little confusing, though. What are we supposed to be focusing on? the sheep or the background?
Last one is good, too. But i was expecting to see ore of a focus on snow and snowflakes/snow covered scenery, since it was titled "Winter Wonderland". But i guess that just adds to the originality. Over all, good job!!! ---------------------------- -jojo.
Wherever you hail from, I wish I was there! It's beautiful! And so are these pics by the way, very crisp and I can almost feel the cold in them. The sheep is my favorite followed by the leaves. I love the lighting in both pictures, very nice job. The trees although pretty really aren't anything special. I do like all the snow stuck to the branches though, it's a nice contrast to the blue skies behind them. -day

I really really liked these photos. It might be because I am Canadian and I just have a natural love for snow and winter... Hahaha. Actually, the first and the third ones are my favorite. The second one is nice but it is just a little bit confusing. There is a little too much going on. But I do understand that in the moments that you have to take a picture of an animal it is tough to get a perfect set up. Overall you seem to know what you are doing. Keep up the good work! ~Safe

Not a big fan of the sheep (is it still sheep if its only 1? im having a brain fart) mostly because of the shadow and how centered it is. eye travels to that one spot and stays there, therse not much flow in the positioning of it.
but yeah, looved the other two! yay i wish we had that much snow here! it still looks liek fall where i am!

I love all three. They are great! However, I don't think that the first one captures Winter. At first look I think of Autumn, because of the leaves. After you look at it for a while, you can kind of see Winter in the background. When someone looks at photography, if they don't see what they want to see at first glance, they move on. If you are trying to capture Winter Wonderland, take a picture that looks more Winter-y. However, I love all three of your photos, regardless of that.
