Disney Drawings

These are just some of the things that I have drawn recently. I don't know how well you can see them and for that I am sorry but here they are anyway. Oh, and sorry about Ariel she doesn't have lips. I couldn't get them right.

And the Tarzan one is great.
The last one is really cute. I like the Lady and the Tramp. You're very good at drawing. Hope to see some more works from you sometime.

Hi Pea!

So, these are really cute. I love how you capture sort of a Disney-esque style with these pictures, and they're better then I could ever do; they're so cute and cartoon like, and especially good for just quick doodles.

#1 - So, this is cute, and there are a few things that I really like about it, like her tail and the way you drew her leaning against the rock. But there are a few things that could probably be better. First off, I wanted to mention something about her hair. It looks real nice at the edges of her chin and face, but once you get to the tips, there isn't really any volume or direction; it just sort of sticks out. And when we're in water, although our hair does stick out a bit more, bits and pieces of it are pulled in different directions by the water, right?

Watch that and watch how Ariel's hair moves through it; it will help a lot. Also, what happened to her chin? And her mouth? First, the chin feels like it protrudes just a bit much, and this is made more apparent by the lack of a mouth. Also, it sort of seems like her top is riding up a bit high on her chest.

Otherwise, I liked this one!

#2 - I don't have much to say about this one. The proportions are nice and overall this is a clean picture. However, it just feels a bit too simplistic, too plain. Unlike the picture with Ariel, there isn't much of a background to this picture; it kind of just feels like he's floating in space. In addition, maybe you could try experimenting with a bit of coloring and/or shading too.

#3 - This is also very good. What gets me here are the proportions. It's all two-dimensional; there isn't really that much of a sense of depth. It sort of looks like the tree is going straight down instead of down and to the side. Have you done any perspective work in your art classes? If you haven't, take a look at this.

#4 - This is probably my favorite of the four drawings. It's been a while since I've seen Lady and the Tramp, but I think I need too again. I love the snout, the eyes, everything. I'd try to focus on making the background a bit more concrete. Right now, it's a bit hard to tell where the grass ends and the wall begins.

Awe, I remember drawing that same picture of Ariel when I was like eleven. Or something simialiar. But anyways I think you did a very awesome job of drawing her face, even without the lips. (It just adds to the effect that she couldnt talk when she was human).
I have no idea who Orville from The Rescuers is. But I think you did a very well.
Ahhh, Baby Tarzan and Kala is the cutest one out of all.
Jock from Lady and the Tramp is by far my favorite, you caught his figure... Now you've made me wanna watch the movie, only if my VCR worked!

Hello there, Peanut (or, as I like to call you...S'getti)! Here to review, as requested.

Alright, let's take a look at these drawings.

Drawing #1
Goodness, have I ever told you that Ariel is one of my favorite Disney princesses? Well, I love that you chose to draw her! I do have a few issues with your sketch, however. First of all, I'd like to point out how stiff her hair seems. Hair is never that stiff, even underwater or when it's being blown by wind. I suggest trying to fix that up a bit. Also, the hand that is holding her hair/face looks unnaturally placed, and the elbow much too sharp (generally, elbows have a more rounded, if not still a bit sharp, look to them). Also, she looks like a chipmunk, her cheeks are so large -- bursting with royal seafood or not, try and fix that up and give them a more natural shape. Her shell-bra (er, I don't know what it's called!) also seems disproportionate. It's very, er, thin, and needs a "rounder" shape, like her shell-bra in the movie. Yep, yep. Other than that, I really, really enjoy the flowers you decorated that rock with, and her mermaid tail.

I've never watched The Rescuers, so I decided to look up "pictures of Orville from the Rescuers." Genius, right? Anyways, I saw that your drawing of Orville here was quite, quite accurate! I truly like this one; in it you can get a sense of what, I think, appears to be Orville's charisma. I loved his goggle-hat-thing-a-ma-jig, too! Cute drawing.

Drawing #3
Part One (Big Tarzan): Alright, this brought back memories of when I used to sit around all day -- "Momma, Momma, Tarzan! I wanna watch the monkey man!" XD. Anyways, I felt that you did quite a good job portraying him, but I did notice a few things that I think you'd do well to fix! This is going to sound odd, but his bottom-area is, well, seemingly flat. Which, generally, it isn't. So, I suggest giving it a bit more shape (preferably one that's not rigid like this). Also, because I'm a nitpick-y person, I'd like to point out that the background is quite boring.
I think this drawing could benefit if you added a huge tree in the background, or something, instead of just the overall blank-ness we see now. And the tree trunk leaf-things (the things hanging down from it -- are those bananas?), avoid them and perhaps add some branches branching off from this branch, Peanut.
Overall, good job, though.
Part Two (Kala and Baby Tarzan): This one was a bit hard to see, being so small and all, but I think Baby Tarzan looks a bit like a honest-to-goodness monkey, which isn't what you want. Try sketching him again, because even at a young age, he did have those wild dreads, or so it seems! Kala is great, though.

Alas, I love dogs, and when I was little, Lady and the Tramp had to be my favorite movie. I love that you chose to draw Jock, but I do have a few issues with his overall appearance. His forelegs (front paws) seem quite pointy and short, in comparison to his well-drawn back legs. I love the snout and eyes, though. But as Elinor pointed out, you need to focus on the background a bit more. At the moment, it's quite hard to tell where the grass ends and the wall begins. I had to look at it a few times, just because of that.

Goodness, I never knew you were such a great artist. If you ever post any more of your work, I beg you to please, please, please message me! I'd love to see more. And, now you make me want to go watch all these movies again. Maybe I will.

Heya, peanut!

Now, I know basically nothing about art or photography, so youre going to hae bare with me on this. I doubt I'll be much hep because of that, but I'm happy enough to tell yo what I think of these drawings. Oh, and I also apologise for any typo's in this review... I'm on a laptop that I can't type with to save my life.

ut of all of the pictures, tha last one has to be my favourite. I do love Lady And The Tramp though... It's easy to tell who the drawing was of, so thumbs up for that. I think that you've drawn the facial features very well on him actually. The details on it overall are very good, but I do have to agree with what the others have said. You seem to have paid all of your attention o the dog, and not uite enough on the background. If you touch that up, it'll be even better!

The one of Tarzan's very good as well. I think you've drawn his body, especially the shape of it, in a good way. I don't know if it's just me, but although I say that, the legs look a little out of preportion compared to the rest of his body. A bit big, I think. Other than that though, I can't spot any noticable problems. Mind you, I would like the background to be a bit more detailed as well.

The first two of yur drawings are good too. The second one is probably my least favourite, but overall, I do like it. I think I just would ahve liked to have seen a little more detail in it. You've de the detail so well in the other pictures, so I know you can improve a ittle on it in the second drawing. As for your first drawing, my main issue with it is the hair, if I'm honest. It loks rather flat and dull. Now, I might be noticing this because I'm obsessed with hair... I love fiddling with my own hair. I just think that Ariel's hair looks a bit volumeless and dull.

Overall, I like. Sorry I haven't bene that much help... I know practically nothing abot drawings. If you give these pictures a bit of a touch up, I think that these could be a wonderful set of drawings, peanut!

Thanks, all of you for these reviews. They are really helpful. I didn't realize that the backgrounds were so important, but now that I think about it I can see how that makes the pictures more interesting. I haven't taken an art class since I was in 5th grade, so that's about 4 years ago. So thanks for all of the compliments and I'm excited to know how to fix these. Thanks again

My favorite drawing is the last one, of Jock. It's so cute! I can't judge here on any of the drawings because I'm a writer, but I've gotta say these are really good!

Keep On Keepin' On!

Pretty much the only tip I've got is to not use lined paper. I made this mistake a while ago, and it took forever to get the drawing away from the lines (PS CS5 FTW).
Yeah, you might decide you really liked what you drew, and the lines just can't stay.
That, and get a scanner.

{The 1st drawing}: It seemed that the drawing was too hard. Personally, I think that Disney characters are one of the hardest ones to draw. Her hair lacks some detail and the endings of her hair are not very well drawn. Also the hands need some more work on them.

My favourite drawing would be the last one, "Jock from Lady and The Tramp". Although I haven't watched that cartoon before so I don't know about the characters, but I can tell that you drew the dog very well.

I like the 2nd and the 3rd drawings too, so I won't have any comments on them.

The first three I was a bit iffy on. Cartoons are so difficult because the proportions have to be perfect for them to look just like the original. Ariel and Tarzan are the ones that need adjusted just a little. But the second and forth are really neat. The last one is absolutely darling =] You did really well with that one. =]]

Okay, I don't know if anybody's mentioned but Ariel doesn't have a mouth or maybe it's not clear. But anyway, ALL four drawings are really adorable. Every drawing is better than the last one. And the fouth one is just close to flawless.

It's not so hard to draw cartoons. I'm a cartoonist myself and Practice is all it takes to make it perfect. Once you get the hang of it, you can draw easily without using an eraser.

Dear Peanut (can I call you that),

I suggest you draw your pictures on a plain sheet of cartridge paper. Then, your pictures are bound to come well. It would also be good if you scanned your pictures other than taking photos of them. If you have a horrible printer, try to brighten it out by using Photoshop or sites like: www.picnik.com.

1: Your first picture was pretty nice. I like how you drew Ariel's hair. It looks like it is flowing (which it is supposed to, so I guess it is nice). Try not to use notebook paper, though. Is she holding seaweed in her hand?

No offense, but her face looks slightly bloated, perhaps you could draw it again? The rest of the body looks fine and awesome. Just so that you know.

3: This one is cool, too. I have found only one mistake in this one. Thankfully, this photo came well. I am happy.

Tarzan's hand that is hanging off the other side looks a bit weird, like as if it belonged to a torn Plushie. Perhaps you should change it and make it look like a real joint by making the beginning and the middle (to the elbows) the same size. Here, you have enlarged the muscles, making the joint looks very small.

4: This one is my favorite and the one that I think needs no improvement at all. The dog looks so cute! Don't change it. Keep it the way it is. I like the way that you drew this one. Keep drawing like this picture of yours!

I am very sorry if any of these comments on your pictures insulted you in anyway. I hope they didn't. I tried to tell the truth . . . at least, what I think is the truth . . .

Anyway, I can never draw well like you but I can surely judge it well! I must say they're fine.

Here are my suggestions:

Picture #1:

Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She was my favorite when I was young!
But it's not really perfect but she has some other kind of face. What I mean is she doesn't look like Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Sorry if I'm being Harsh >.< I love the hair though <3 Ariel looks so different without the mouth! :O
Goodness Me! Anyway, well drawn. The outfit of Ariel should have been a little clear. The shell or whatever she's holding is not actually what it is. If it is a shell it kind of looks like a flower. :S

Picture #2:

Orville from the Rescuers. That's a funny little penguin you've drawn! But you know, it's hand kind of looks like a bird's wings if you look from the far end. That needs a little perfection and it looks as if it has claws! :O Lol! :'D Scarfs are nicely drawn. Didn't find anything else in this picture.

Picture #3:

First, I'll talk about the Tarzan. Tarzan can be one of the hardest things to draw. Trust me, my brother is a great drawer and it took like a 7-8 hours to draw him and adding up the jungle. I guess you took only 1 or 2 hours. Just guessing. Very bad at guessing. Hehe xD But the Tarzan's hair o.O? What is it? It looks like Banana peels :S Sorry. And the leg. the first leg which leans forward. The thumb is so separate from the toes. Looks really weird. Second, Baby Tarzan and Kala in the corner. Tarzan looks SO CUTE! Now that is well drawn! But the body, it's not at all clear. >.< Kala is fine. No mistakes there but I think you should give a little clear picture of Baby Tarzan.

Picture #4:

Jock from Lady the Tramp. It's the BEST ONE I LOVED! Jock looks so adorable and the fur which is drawn is perfect! Many people struggle drawing the dog and they so many mistakes but I think you've really accomplished that part! Especially the eyes! Awesomely drawn! Though the picture looks slanted. I don't know if it's the camera's problem but Blah. The picture is B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. ! <3<3<3

Now from all of this, I think you could have colored all the pictures. It would look neat and nicer. The sketches make them look a little messed up.

I would give this a 8/10.
