Drawing - Isha (LP's contest)

A drawing I did for LastPaladin's Rule 63 contest. This is Isha as a boy. As you can see, my skills at drawing people suck.

First of all, your drawing does NOT suck! It's better than what I can do, the more you practice the better you get at it. You have a talent to write, I have a talent to sing. Just because we have these talents does NOT mean we cannot improve. The other point is that we can be good at other things it just takes time. Like writing with your right hand all your life, your left hand isn't going to write as well (at least in my case, I can't even get the pencil to stay IN my hand lol)

Your drawing is good, not the greatest, but good. Keep practicing. You WILL get better.

Aww, this is such a cute picture. I'm confused, though, as to whether this was supposed to be realistic or a cartoon-like drawing. It kind of looks like you're edging on realistic, but at the same time the proportions feel really off. Although it may seem like the female figure is a lot harder to draw, the male figure is actually pretty tricky.

Whenever you draw something, no matter what it is, it's good to have something to use as a reference. For now, let's use Superman to help us, shall we?

As you can see, their stomach does go in at their hips a bit, not outward. They do have shape like us females do, it's just less apparent and their general build is bulkier. Also, just some general human drawing things I wanted to point out: our eyes are actually in the middle of our heads, and they don't really tilt that far inward.

You might also want to make the jacket seem a bit more photo-realistic. Add some crinkles and creases here and there. Also, the ends of the coat probably wouldn't go so far outward.

Once you fix that, though, the shading and general tone of this picture just seems a bit dreary. It feels very flat; there isn't really any depth. Work on shading and finding focal points for light to hit at (I'm sure you've heard this before) and you picture would already look a lot better.

NEVER say that your work sucks!!! Nobody's work does. Believe in yourself and your artwork will get better! And, like SoggyPopTart (haha) said, it is much better than what a lot of people can do. Feel grateful that you can draw!
It is actually a good drawing, no matter what you seem to think of it. It is not brilliant, but brilliant is a very difficult standard to achieve. You have done very well! It's so cute I especially like the way the hand parts the material as it reaches inside Isha's cloak - I get the impression that Isha is reaching for a knife. Would I be right?

No-one is amazing at art without years and years of practice!!
I've been drawing for 6 years and i'd say were on the same parr.
To be honest, I like the picture ^_^
Can I ask how long you've been drawing for?

Thanks for the reviews guys. But honestly, for as long as I've been drawing, I just can't get people right. Landscapes are fine, just take a look a Cairn Eternal. But when it comes to people, I just have bad skills. I think I will stick with what I know, and that's landscapes.

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. Maybe....14/15 years. And thanks, glad you like it.
