Hello to Everyone!

Hello, I'm allicat. I was really excited when I came across this site; it appears to be just the type of website I've been searching for for months. (:

I am fourteen years old and aspire to be a writer one day (I hope to become an author of young adult novels, but also wouldn't mind being a freelance writer). My writing is very weak at the moment, which is exactly why I have come here. Entering high school this year, I decided to make it a priority to seek improvement in the area I am most interested in, and that would be writing.

As I continue my stay at this website, I hope I find the help I am looking for to improve my writing skills (my biggest trouble at the moment is the flow of stories; the descriptions never seem to run smoothly). Mostly, however, I just wish to have fun and learn as much as I can while I explore the site.

Hi allicat. I am also a cat as you can see. A very tired cat. I am also really excited you found this site! It is the right place to improve your writing, and you will, over time, don't worry. You sound very interesting. I also like to write young adult fiction, though I am not very good at it. I hope to see your work soon. Though I am not to good at reviewing young adult fiction I might be able to help you with descriptions.

That was not long enough of an introduction! Just kidding, though I would like to know more about you. I am guessing you like to read. Most writers do. Do you have a favorite author? Do you do any writing besides young adult fiction? What is your favorite color? Do you have a pet peeve?

Hi, allicat! I bet you're going to have a great time here. It's a good place to improve your writing, especially if you actively participate in reviewing works by other members as well. That's how I learn best, actually. Be sure to check out all the different resource forums we have here as well, especially the knowledge base. You can find that link under "all forums" under the circle that says YWS on the top bar.

What inspires you to write? :] What do you particularly like to write "about"?

Hey Alli! Welcome to YWS! I'll be looking for your work.

Much thanks goes out to everyone for being so nice and the warm welcomes! (: But, gosh, so many questions to answer, haha...

@Calligraphy, You'd be right in guessing I'm a fan of reading. I love the Harry Potter series (as I'm sure a lot of people here do), but as of the moment, I am reading I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith, and I am IN LOVE with it. <333 So I guess right now, I would have to say that she is my favorite author, but this is a question whose answer is always subject to change. xD Other than young adult fiction, I do not write very much of anything else...I've done a bit of poetry writing, but it is never very good. That is something else I'd like to work on, but it's just not the most important thing on my list. Fav. Color - Blue, Pet Peeve - I guess people who constantly complain about things that, in reality, they've never even tried. You know, like that friend who says, "That show is awful!" about a show that they've probably haven't heard of 'til you asked them about it? That's what I'm talking about lol.

@Mo and psudiname, Go right ahead, call me whatever you'd like! (: I'm not picky.

@Hannah, What inspires me to write? Hmmm...I would have to say music. I can listen to almost any song and connect it to a character from one of my stories; as I listen more to that song, I think more and more about my character and can develop him or her better. Btw, that is what I like to write about: my characters. I love to develop each and every one of them, and tell the story mainly through their actions and thoughts. With enough time, the right music, and well-rounded characters, I eventually come up with pretty good plots. Now if I could just get that darn description thing down... xD

@Tigersprite, I love fantasy (I'm a Harry Potter nerd, as I kinda hinted at earlier...). I'm sure I'll like it here, and thanks for the welcome! (:
