Submit your Short Story for my Tell-All Book

Teen Age First: High School Years... The Book I'm going to be writing and putting together a book this summer and into the year, and I need your help to finish this book. This book will be about the "firsts" of everyone teenage years. When you are growing up sometimes you wish you could have known what was going to happen before it did so then you could be prepared. Let's prepare those who haven't gone through it yet; so this is what you can do for me...

- Send in stories about your teen age experiences
* I myself will be writing one story for each topic
- I will provide you with a list of topics located in the "Blog" portion of the website
- You can e-mail the stories @ (removed)
- For everyone’s safety please change names in the stories
* When you send it to me just attach your first name and your state
- Stories can be short, long, funny, and sad whatever you want

I've looked over your site there, and I have a couple of questions, if that's cool?

Is there any sort of contract you've put together for this? Will you be seeking publication at all, and is any kind of compensation for the writers who choose to submit to your proposed book? What kind of rights does the original author have for their work, or will all rights be transfered to the site (you?) without any consideration for the author? Will you be acknowledging each writer appropriately for their contribution?

Tagefirst, I highly recommend you show maximum transparency here at all times; everyone else, read absolutely everything provided with immense caution. This reads to me as "RED FLAG! RED FLAG! RED FLAG" even if you ARE who you claim you are. Contracts with writing should never ever be decided upon through the internet, but in person. Anyone who submits anything to this, do so at your own peril.

MMM ->> Contracts with writing can definitely be done over the Internet. It's done with multi-million dollar deals all the time, so I fail to see the reason why it can't be done with a deal worth no more than the paper it's printed on (literally).

What you're really getting at is just trust. At the end of the day, no contract is worth anything no matter how it's done unless the parties trust each other.

But that's the point. Can you trust this random person representing them self is who they say they are and will actually seek to publish, and won't take what you send? You're right corporations do this when dealing with hard materials and capital products, Penguin though would never EVER do this with a big time author (I know that some smaller ones do, but those are University publications), but you at least can go to the corporation for accountability and feel assured they do exist and you aren't left holding the bag. I knew I should have elaborated, but that's what I'm getting at (yeah Nate, you mean the same thing as me later on, I see). Again, I'm just very cautious with these things because even if the OP means good intentions, it's just that much better to meet in person when reading contracts. I'll leave this topic alone though so I don't derail it.

I'm not adding anything; just emphasizing this question. So everyone, before you submit anything to anyone, ask yourself that question.

Are you planning on publishing this? As Penguin asked, do the contributing writers get any compensation? What are we getting out of it?

to meanmrmustard, who are you to tell other people "redflag red flag red flag" to my post? I am who I say I am. I am a young author trying to get her first book going and publised. Shame on you for not understanding. Electric contracts are as the same things as a pen a paper and yes I DO have one.

Yes i am planning on publishing and no the contriuting writers don't get compensation. If I get my book published all the money is most likly going to a some type of fund for teens with cancer.
