What's your favourite literary period?

Go on - you must have one. Or, if you don't - what eras do most of your favourite writers inhabit? Victorian? Modern? The interwar period? The Cold War?

Personally, I love the Romantic and Victorian era. Yeah, that's right. Kind of Lord Byron/Hardy/Tennyson. But I also really enjoy Wilfred Owen, around the First World War, and all that great dystopian literature until the 1950s. Some modern stuff's great, but not my favourite by a long way.

So, yes. Your turn.

Georgian for me.

I prefer to stay grounded in the 1900s.

1920s thru 1930s American literature.

The Romantic period. I hate modern romance novels, but I've always loved Austen, Alcott and the like.

The Romantics, on either side of the Atlantic, have a special place in my heart. ^^ I also enjoy Medieval literature quite a bit.

Gothic literature and the subsets of it. I would say the beginning half of Modernism, but it came from the PUTRID, incorrigible Realism and Naturalism. I have hoped many times that both periods were just nasty, nasty hangovers in literary history.

Yeahyeah, I love gothic romance novels--Northanger Abbey, Villette, Wuthering Heights.
