Hi there. As the title says, I'm new here, and I'm pretty shy... Please be nice. I'm a passionate writer who mostly likes writing science fiction and fantasy, though I'll write just about anything if it interests me. A few things about me... My favorite book is Ender's Game, which is by my favorite author, Orson Scott Card. My hobbies are writing (obviously), drawing, photography, and playing video games. I'm agnostic and a vegetarian, but I'm very open-minded regarding the beliefs of others. I don't know when I might be submitting any of my work, as my self-esteem is about the size of a moth's pinkie, but I'll try to be active, anyway. That's all I can think of for now... Not sure if your a guy or girl but we certainly have a lot in common. Fantasy is my favorite genre of writing, and I'm always reading it. In fact I saw Orson Scott Card's books at the library numerous times, but I never picked them up, although I've heard they are really good. Have you by chance read The hunger games, Ranger's Apprentice, Uglies, or the Dark Elf trilogy? Those are some of my favorite books at the moment. Next video games are pretty much the biggest waste of my life. I lean toward FPS and Roleplaying games primarily. What do you enjoy?
Don't worry about submitting work either, just be ready that some users may critique harsly. I always just think of it as this...
1. I submit the work 2. I brace myself because I know something will be wrong 3. when someone points out something wrong I try to think about how it could have been done better or why it was wrong

It's understandable you're shy— I was one such person when I joined. It helps to make a few friends on the site first and getting to know who you want to review you. We do have our harsh critics, but you can also ask a bunch of people for nice reviews.
Fantasy is a really fun genre. I write in it a lot myself (try finding a story of mine that doesn't have an element of the fantastic). What's your favourite sub-genre? Dark, urban, classic?

I just wanted to say that when I first read your user name I was so excited because of "ferret". I love ferrets! Anyway, one of my friends made me read Ender's Game because it's her favorite book too and I really liked it! It's definitely one of many favorites of mine. I'm also a vegetarian I get really anxious posting my work for others to read too because I like it and I want others to like it too. But seriously everyone is really friendly and helpful here. If you want, you could put a little note at the beginning of your story saying that you're shy and super nervous about posting so people will take it a little easier on you. But don't worry about it at all. Let me know if you have any questions or need anything at all!

Hello there Silver! My name is Flower~Child, or Flower for short. Anyway welcome to YWS! I to am very shy, but there isn't any reason to be on here! Everyone is super nice, and very helpful! I have never read Enders Game, but I will have to now that you have mentioned it...runs to school library to see if they have it....anyway.... So a vegitarian huh? Wow I give you props for that one, I would probably shrivel up and die, according to the fact that I am very picky, and dont realyl like anythign green....Oh, and you draw! What do you like to draw?

Ender's Game! You are awesome. And! And! Two things: I think we have (or at least used to have? Oh dear, I didn't think I was this far out of the loop!) a vegetarian group/association/something - remind me if you don't see anything, and I can help you look! And two, do you have any good recipes? I've tried looking online, but all I can ever seem to find are highly, uh, "experimental" ideas that are just this side of nasty.
