FallIce 102, 1955 – 8
I’ve been thinking for past weeks about the shrine of Shylem and I think I made up my mind; I really want to see this artifact. Well people call it an artifact but I think it’s like something of an awesome and epical weapon! I decided to make up a lie to Luka so that she doesn’t follow me to the shrine. I told her that I was going to visit Harry’s place and that I’m going alone.
FallIce 103, 1955
You know what? I think I made up my mind; I want Yuu to go along with me. Extra protection and he can teleport us there, making it a lot faster than walking.
I went to talk to Yuu and he seems to deny every single thing I say before I even say it. He reads my mind like jelly, that’s what he told me anyway. I don’t understand how it’s easy to read a jelly. I didn’t want to come alone so I kept on begging him onto the point that it turns very embarrassing for him and that he can’t take it anymore.
After so many tries today, Yuu finally agreed to go with me tomorrow! Woo! I told Luka that I would depart tomorrow. I took a bath, brush my teeth, got all of my other stuff ready, and went to bed.
FallIce 104, 1955
Today is the day we go to the shrine of Shylem!
“Alright Yuu, show me your magic and teleport us to the shrine!” I pointed forward, Yuu could only slap himself and groan “You don’t really know anything about magic do you?”
“What about magic?”
“I can only teleport there if I know where it is and unfortunately I never visited it.”
“Oohh… so does that mean we have to walk?”
Yuu nodded and we began to march on to the shrine.
[ the words were smeared out ]
It took us a while but we were finally there! Yuu nearly died from exhaustion and doesn’t seem to be in a very happy mood anymore. “Look Yuu! It’s the shrine!”
He looks at it and groan, “That’s not a freaking shrine! It’s a freaking cave for the maker’s sake.”
“Yeah I kind of notice that too, I wonder why they call it a shrine.”
He and I took a step forward and by the time our feet touch the ground, the guardian of the shrine awoken and knock us back. I responded to him and jump backward, the force push me and slam me onto a stone wall. It hurts, I force my eyes to open and took a good look and him; he was made out of pure diamond: the second strongest material for armor. However, the guardian had no head but seems to be fine noticing where we are. It was quick and cunning. Yuu was already knock out the first time it push us back. I was severely injured—one of my ribs was broken and my arm was dislocated. I gaze at the guardian as it was about to crush me, was this my last day I get to see this world? I wonder to myself as I close my eyes, waiting for my death. Five seconds have past and I was still alive. I open my eyes and saw Harry blocking the guardian’s fist. He knocks it backwards and rushes to my side, picking me and Yuu up and running away. I could see the guardian standing back up and going back into its position.
Harry treated my wounds and put Yuu into a good resting place. He then glares at me and started shouting at me, “What are you kids doing, going to the shrine of Shylem? You almost got yourself kill out there!”
“Well—I was curious…”
“Curious, you were just curious?! Don’t you ever listen to other people? They said that the guardian killed all of the soldiers who went there and did you listen? NO! Instead you went there dragging Yuu along and almost got you and Yuu killed! You’re just lucky I knew where you were.”
“Wait, how did you know where we were?”
“I came to visit your house but you weren’t there so Luka told me where you guys go if you didn’t come to my house.”
“So… Luka told you where I was?”
Harry nodded and said, “You should go thank her after this.”
I followed his order and stood up, “Harry, can you take care of Yuu for the second, I’m leaving first.” Harry sighed and agreed.
I sprinted back to my house though my chest was still hurting, something in my gut tells me that I really needed to go and thank her. When I got there, Luka wasn’t inside the house, she was somewhere else, that’s what I thought at the time but Luka was just out in the backyard… doing whatever she’s doing. Luka notice my presence and look at me.
“Oh! Edan, welcome back,” she’s talking to me like I was just on a normal trip to Harry’s house. Luka gave me a smile that told me everything, she was lying. I didn’t want to drag this any longer and express my thanks to her. I put my left palm on my face and walk back into the house, Luka just watch me go back into the house. I enter my room and jump on the bed, groaning “Argh!”
FallIce 105, 1955
Yuu came home safe and sound today—though I was kind of jealous that he only had scratches as a wound when I broke one of my ribs and dislocated my arm! I guess that’s what I get for trying to do a cool reflex and hitting a stone wall when I was landing. I guess Yuu always get the better luck. After people stop worrying over him, Yuu walk over to me and said, “I need to talk to you, alone.”
I didn’t say anything but followed him. We went to the backyard of our house which was what I expected; this place is where we always use to get away from people.
“Tell me Edan, what did that guardian look like?”
“Look like? Oh, yeah I forgot, you got your ass knock out! Hah! But anyway, the guardian was made out of pure diamonds; it had no head even though it knew that we were there.”
“I see…”
“Why did you ask, Yuu?”
“Hmph,” Yuu smirked for the first time of his life, I was surprised “After being in a death situation like that, wouldn’t you want to have a rematch with it?”
I sarcastically laugh at him “Hahah! Are you serious Yuu?!”
He glare at me and started to grumble, he was dead serious. I took a step back, still putting up my act. “Let’s get you to a doctor Yuu! That guardian must have busted your brain in the process.”
Yuu smack himself and shook his head “No! I’m serious! Are you deaf? I want to defeat that thing!” I was shocked! He said defeat, oh my! What is the maker doing in a crisis time like this?!
After I finally calm down, I thought about it for a moment, it wasn’t a really bad idea after all.
“You know what Yuu? Yeah, you’re right, that fight wasn’t a fair fight, and I also want a rematch!”
“Hm, I knew you would understand.” He put his arm up; he seems to be waiting for me to do something. I grin, grab his hand and said, “Yeah, but let’s keep this a secret between us, okay?”
“Hahaha! Yeah, I don’t know what would happen if Luka finds out!”
FallIce 106, 1962
Harry came in today wearing one of the Order’s armor. Wow, that was all I could say, Luka was so fascinated by Harry. It seems like Harry just became Luka’s new hero. Harry chuckled and put his hand on her head, rubbing it. He then look at me and said, “Now, I expect you not to do what you did ever again you got me?”
“Yes sir!” I immediately answer him back.
“Wait, you’re a knight?” Yuu question him.
Harry smile and reply, “Why yes, yes I am a knight. In fact, I am the grandmaster of the Order!”
“Woah!” I blurted out yet again; I cover my mouth as I was flush in embarrassment.
“Then why tell us this now? Why not when we first met?” Yuu look at me with a disgusted face, did I have something on my face?
“No, you kids weren’t ready. But now you are and that’s why I’m here.”

FallingWinter 65, 1962 – Age 15
Wow! It’s been two months since I wrote in this journal—the year seems to fly past me so quickly. I took a look at my earlier years and laugh on how dumbfounded I was back then. Those were the days that I wish to come back and redo everything again. Like during my 13th year when I finally notice my feelings for Luka, Yuu laugh at me for years because of my hardheaded way. I never felt so embarrass in my whole life, rather than the way Luka embarrasses me almost every day. Many years past and I notice so many changes. Yuu finally cut his hair and now look like himself now, since five years ago: Yuu refuses to cut his hair so he look like an old man wherever he goes. He was crouching a lot so I never got his right height until today, he finally got his back straight and I notice that he was the same height as me. I was traumatized! But rather than his height, he finally went onto a simple cut and now he looks like your average man with a whole lotta spell. Yuu have been reading too much and now he’s been wearing glasses since, I do have to say that it matches his looks, brown hairs and eyes plus geeky glasses equals just what I expected from a mage’s son. Luka on the other hand finally learn how to cook by the only one, me! She felt bad to be teach by the person who she should taking care after, not hurting him. She seems to be growing taller too, last time she was only next up to my ribs, now she’s up to where my shoulder is. And I know I may repeat this so many times in this journal already but her emerald eyes are so beautiful. It really looks like they can glow in the dark, which I really want to see. Adding that emerald eye with her pinkish-red hair; she would be the perfect bride. Though I do say that, just saying the word bride makes me laugh every time. But I better stop wasting my time writing everything down again.
FallingWinter 78, 1962
It was a cold morning today, but I couldn’t stop myself on going to the Flame Amur tree. I come here every day to check on its condition. Luka and Yuu decided to plant this tree three years ago, saying that it’ll grow for many years, keeping our carved records. Looking at this tree makes me sad that I was born in the winter, why? Because the leaves fall during the winter so there’s nothing good to look at. I really want to look at its bright leaves on my birthday, at least that’ll make me feel a bit better about myself.
While I was watering the roots, Luka came behind me and push me—my face went first as it slams onto the trunk. She laughs at me saying, “I didn’t know that you love the tree so much!” I grumble at her and went back to watering. Luka just stood beside me and watch.
“The tree gotten big hasn’t it?”
“Yeah… it have… just like us.”
She chuckled “Yeah…” Luka then proceed back to town. As I watch her walk off my field of vision I wondered, “What the hell was she doing here anyway? Don’t tell me that she came all the way here just to push me onto the tree?”
After my morning was finished, I walk back to my room and look for my knuckles. It seems to disappear somewhere. I search for it the whole evening and when I found it, the knuckles were on Luka’s hand as she handed back to me, apologizing. My… knuckles broke.
“Ahh….” I couldn’t say anything else, I felt like I just lost something very important to me. No, it was important to me! Luka broke my only weapon, is she trying to kill me?!
Yuu tried to cover his laughter as he gave me a solution. “Here, give me it, I’ll fix it—I am the person who made it in the first place.”
I sigh in grief and gave it to him. I went to bed without saying anything, only crying.
On late night when I was just about to fall asleep, the door creak open and as I open my eyes to see who. I felt a soft and warm sensation on my back, I didn’t know what it was but it felt great. Until I notice that there was an arm wrap around me, now I felt like crying. It was Luka for the maker’s sake! But I can’t complain any more than that, it’s been a long time since she and I slept together. I thought getting back all those bad memories of her crushing my spine would help me remind not to mess with Luka.
FallingWinter 93, 1962
Yuu was finally finished with my knuckles and as he handed it to me, I burst out in tears. The knuckles were on my arm! I could really die happy right now! I saw Luka who walk toward me, trying to apologize once again. I growl at her like a tiger protecting her cubs. She took a step back and quickly walks back to her room. After she was out of my sight, I decided to test the knuckles.
“Not only I fix it, I also made it more durable than before so try it out.”
I was fascinated by his creation, it seems so perfect now. I went outside and I punch a tree, broke it, and I didn’t felt any pain at all! Amazing!

FallingSummer 147, 1962
It was almost time… only one season left and we have to choose our path. That year is when we’ll separate and move on with our life. I wish it never came.
It was your average day, I was going to water the Amur tree as usual but when I got there, Luka was waiting for me. This time, she doesn’t seem like she just come here to bother me.
“Edan…” she said in a soft voice, I couldn’t help but blush at her, it was cute—but it seemed sad for some reason.
“What is it Luka?”
“It’s coming isn’t it? The day where we have to go different paths.”
“Yeah… it is.” I respond back to her in a low tone.
“I-I don’t want us to go.”
There’s really nothing to say back to her, I know, I don’t want it either Luka. “I know Luka, but we have to. You know I can’t be with you forever.” I regret my words, I always have.
Luka tried to cover her face, trying to cover her tears. I sigh and came closer to Luka, she look up at me as I put my lips on hers.
FallingSummer 148, 1962
I was daydreaming about what happen yesterday that I over watered the flowers. I use all of the water and sigh, my face is still red from what happened “Luka and I-I k-kissed…”
Just thinking about it makes me scream. “Ahhh!!!”
When I was walking down the hill, the thoughts of it made me tumble down. I came home covered in mud.

FallingSpring 23, 1963 – Age 16
That day already pasted and we’ve already chosen our path. However, before we finally depart, Yuu took me out at night and said, “Tonight before we go, let’s get a rematch with that guardian, if you do remember our promises.”
I grin at him, “Well I’m glad you remember it too, Yuu. Let’s go then!”
He and I advance to the shrine of Shylem, once again.
When we got there, Yuu hid behind a tree and scouted the place.
“I see the guardian! He’s hiding behind the cavern… I mean shrine.” He forms a fireball and shoots it at the guardian. He woke up and bashes the ground, making shock waves. I jump toward him and hit him with my right fist. The guardian block it with his arm and knocks me back, I quickly stood up and tried to regain balance. Yuu and I fought the guardian with all of our might.
While we were at the shrine, sparring with the guardian, Luka was walking home. When she opens the door, she notices that we weren’t here. Remembering what happened last time we were gone, she ran back to town for help. No matter how many times she tried, the townsfolk refuse to help her no matter what, just when Luka was about to give up hope and go there herself, a group of the Order soldiers volunteer to help.
Before Luka and the soldiers could get here, Yuu and I already defeated it. That’s what I thought, the guardian wasn’t moving anymore, I know that for sure. We weren’t severely injured but the wounds hurt badly!
“You know, while we’re at it, you want to check out the shrine?” Yuu ask me in heavy breathes.
“Yeah… I guess so; I really want to know what’s in there that’s so important that they have to make a guardian protect it.”
We walk inside the shrine; it was a long walk, who made this place to large in the first place. When we got there, we were surprised, not a good surprise though.
“That’s the ancient artifact of Shylem?! What the hell?” Yuu yell out in dissatisfaction. I was speechless… all of this… just for that thing?!
I shook my head, saying this wasn’t happening. I cover my eyes for a moment to calm down when a voice suddenly rang out to me.
“Edan, look out!!”
[ The next few pages was rip out; there are outlines of stained blood and wrinkles on the paper. ]
