Hiyas, LauRux! It is so wonderful to meet you!

Welcome to YWS, the Young Writer's Society! You'll find you'll have meet a lot of amazing people here and hopefully learn a lot about yourself as well. I know I have, and it's been such a blast. The critiques can be quite exciting on works as well, really able to help educate you on how to perfect your specific style. Some of them may be a bit daunting, but it's all good in the end. I hope you enjoy every moment!

Now, there's a lot of things to do on the site. The Read/Write tab at the top takes you to the literary forums, where you can post your own work and read others. There's also the Pages tab, which will let you see a variety of... well, pages ( ;) ) about different subjects and interests. I suggest you take a look around and see what you find. :) There's also the YWS chatroom, found under the first tab labeled 'YWS', where you can always find someone to talk to. You can meet a lot of people here or maybe get some fast advice on something on the site.

So! What's your favorite thing to write - poetry or prose? Mayhaps you have a favorite genre as well? And do you have any recommendations for a good read? :)

If you have any questions or concerns, please PM me! Good luck with everything and hopefully I'll be reading some of your work in the near future! Have a wonderful day!

Smiles!

Hi! Welcome to YWS, basically the coolest place on the entire interwebs. :smt003

Mira seems to have gotten all the good questions and explanations in, so I think I'll ask some random ones.

Coffee or tea? Pink or purple? Rain or sunshine? Um...favorite authors?

Anyway, nice to meet you and I hope to see you round! :]

Hi!

As Mira said, there are some great features on YWS! Unfortunately, when you are new to such a big site, it can be very confusing (When I first joined, I didn't even know about the Welcome Mat, which probably would have helped me figure out the site A LOT quicker). But, I'm not here to talk about my ineptness as website traveling. The point is, I've gotten quite familiar with YWS and all of its awesomeness. If you have any questions, even if they seem stupid and most likely obvious, feel free to drop me a PM (Private Message). I'd love to hear from you! Even if all you want to do is chat. :D

Hope you love YWS as much as I do.

Hi, LauRux! Welcome!

Good to see a new member; this is a great site, and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun here. :D

It's definitely a huge place. Like ultraviolet, I didn't know about the Welcome Mat, so I spent a while just figuring out everything here. There are groups for various interests, the Chat Wall, contests, storybooks, blogs...the list goes on. YWS is amazing in that it has so many awesome features.

Do you like prose or poetry? Fantasy or sci-fi? Not only is writing fun here, you get to read some great stuff as well. Hope to see your work around the forums!

Thanks for all the replies! I never expected to be welcomed so thoroughly, so thanks for that.

To answer some of the questions...

My first impression of the site was that everyone is very serious and welcoming. I was shocked by how supportive the members are.

I like to read both poetry and prose, but prose is my favorite.

I read just about all genres, though I'm not a big fan of classic fantasy. Romance is my favorite.

I have read some really good books lately including: Eyes Like Stars, the Mortal Instruments, Evermore, Howl's Moving Castle and Hunger Games. Check them out!

I prefer tea to coffee because caffeine gives me wicked migraines, though most herbal teas are a bit too bland for me.

Pink is my favorite color, next to turquoise.

I live in the north west, where it rains almost constantly, and I love it. Writing is the most fun with the rain pattering at the window and a blanket around my shoulders.

Thanks again for all the help! I will keep you all in mind when I have questions

Duuuude! I've become obsessed with trashy romance novels lately. I mean, yeah, sometimes the descriptions are ridiculous (how can you shimmer with someone???) but they're awesome. XD What sort of romances do you especially like? :)

Hey lau! Welcome to YWS!

It's great that you are feeling welcomed, so let me invite you to join a storybook! Not sure what storybooks are? It's basically a story created by a large group of people, each writing from a character's point of view. Griffinkeeper has started a new one recently and we are looking for people who are interested in joining... it looks like it will be great fun and pretty much anything goes, so it's a great way to flex your creativity muscles! here's a link if you're interested. Hope to see you around!

I know what you mean Snoink, romances can be absolutely ridiculous, but so hot that they can't be resisted. I like to read young adult romance with a paranormal twist. Twilight (even though it's taboo!), Evermore and Eyes Like Stars are my favorite romances.

Thanks for the offer Nutty! I would love to join. I'm not quite sure what exactly it's all about, but it sounds like a ton of fun :smt001.
