Portrait Photography

Here are some portrait shots that I have taken recently. These are the best ones and I would love a critique on some of them. But it you dont have time for critique than just a simple comment would be great. They aren't the most awesome ones I have ever taken, but most of those are of younger kids and I don't want to upload those to the internet with out the parents permission. As I said. I would love a critique on them if you have some time, and I have a website too if you want to check out some more of my pictures.

Some of these picture are good, but here are my critiques:

#1: The setting doesn't really match the outfit and look the girl is wearing. It looks like some model standing in the middle of nowhere looking lost...

#2: This would be a very good photo if it didn't look like the girl was swinging her head so that the hair would show. Maybe wait for some real wind next time, 'cause it almost looks like it hurts her neck. Other than her posture this picture would be really good other wise.

#3: This picture looks very original and it's nice. Good job.

#4: Really cute picture.

Good job on these though, you only needed to work on positions of the face and body (parts) and settings.

Well, I've need review pictures before but... here goes

#1- She looks confused... and she really doesn't belong, her outfit is kinda city-ish and she is out in the woods it seems...

#2- the shadows on the girl kinda took way from the picture, drawing your eyes to the shadows, and the angle of her neck makes my neck hurt, so, ya... Other then that it is a pretty good picture...

#3- This one looks like she is posing for a school picture or something... but also, after the second time I looked at it I kinda thought of a girl running from a boy, leaning against a try, and smiling at him:) I like it... Although, if she had a little bit of light on her face to bring out her feature I think I would look better...

#4- This one was my favorite... Looking at the girl, you can see that she looks happy, her holding up the necklace or a caged bird makes me thing that maybe she can relate, because at one time, all teenagers, adults, or kids feel like a caged bird... Although, in her glasses you can see the photographer... Not sure if you meant that or not, but that is the on thing I can find that I don't really like about this picture...

Hope I didn't critce wrong, the only thing I have reviewed so far have been poems so...

1. I like the pose and I really like the outfit, super cute. I like her hair and she had the whole 'imma model' thing going on and it's totally cool. But as mentioned, honestly the background doesn't match her style.

2. Super neat, with the hair all flowing and all. I do think her lips should have been closed though >.<
But I like her make up and the direction her eyes are looking

3. This is a cute picture and I like the smile. I think this background fits her better than the other ones.

4. This is by far my favorite picture out of all four of them. I love her big glasses and the hairstyle. I especially like the concentration on the necklace, it's neat.

Overall, they were good shots. The background was the main problem but it's hard to find the perfect one, I speak from experience haha Okay, well that's all! Keep taking pics!

Heyy, it's me, Tamara, Tabitha!

First off, it's an interesting idea. I haven't seen much like this on YWS, so I'm interested in seeing ow you do.

The first one, I don't think that everything matches, either. I like the look in her eye, and how it looks like she doesn't care. The way she is walking is very model like.

The second one, even though this girl is blonde, the hair doesn't show up much. You kind of need better lighting for it too work, and another setting. Also, other parts of the photo seem blurred.

The thrid one, this time I the the background works. But, there is no lighting on her face, and you should try taking another picture where she is head up touching the tree.

The fourth one, my favourite. I have no major critiques apart from it's really blurred in the background, though for this it kinda works. I love the necklace!

Hey there, Tabitha!

Well, I love how you've added something new to the photography section. In general, we don't see many portrait photographers, for numerous reasons, but anyways, love this.

Picture #1
I like this, but the light and the shadows seem too harsh. It seems like you should have shot this photo in a different area and background. Also, her head seems a bit blurred, like you didn't focus on it. Still, nice work.

Ha! I love this one. The only nitpick I have is that you can't tell her hair is blonde, because of all the shadows. Make sure to choose the right time to go outside and take photos. Certain lighting can be very flattering, and others, the exact opposite. D:

This one happens to be my least favorite, dear. Her face just is too darkened and orange because of the shadows and highlights of the picture. Plus, I've seen the 'tree pose' a thousand times. Spice it up and make it yours.

Actually, this is my favorite. She's just so positively dorky and the pose is well organized. I love how you blurred the background on this one. *love*

Overall
You have some things to work on, but still, you have a definite potential. Portrait photography is my favorite kind, so we might have that in common, yes? Anyways, keep practicing!

Thanks for all the awesome critiques every one! I was blown away with how cool this was! The lighting is hard and as I am still only 16, its hard to get a decent background besides my backyard, but I think I may try and scout out some local locations next time. Also in the second picture she was swinging her head because I wanted to see if I could capture it with out it being blurry. And I am glad everyone liked the fourth picture. It was really my favorite. But thanks again every one!
